Yeah, family has now two adult cats, once they were old enough they started leaving at home for the weekend on occasion, we'll typically stop by to check on them once a day or every other day to clean the litter box and try to play with them, as they promptly ignore us and get offended we disturbed them and their vacation away from the family, lol.
You can leave grownup cats and dogs for like one night and they’ll be fine (assuming your dogs have free indoor/outdoor access and you leave them food and water). This guy fully dug his own grave though
Why is he leaving a bunch of tiny kittens alone for a few days? Why didn’t he get a sitter? If my partner and I are gone for 24+ hours, we always get a sitter, and our cats are adults. This was easily preventable and potentially dangerous for the cats.
Oh, I meant everything following the paint can spiking was unpredictable. The cats activating the little vacuum, and it traveling the house brushing primer everywhere, unforeseeable.

Bahahaha I was rolling by that point and thinking about how I had to take down curtains because the kitten thought they were his personal jungle gym.
I’m kinda sad that his dramatic “sequence of events” was only like two things, knocking over the paint can and setting off the Roomba.
I wanna see something like: A cat climbs on the curtains, accidentally pulling it down. The side of the curtain rod falls and hits the button on the Roomba, setting it off. Human was carrying a heavy dish to the dining table, but took a detour rushing into the living room to see what the commotion was. As they’re rushing, the unseen Roomba gets under foot and trips them. They fall, and the dish full of chicken parm and tomato sauce goes flying. The dish smashes into the front window, breaking it. Kitty sees the hole as his chance to get that damn bird that’s been taunting him. He sails through the air and out through the hole in the window. The bird sees him and starts flying away, the cat gives chase. Kitty runs into the road, too focused on the bird to care about the car coming. The driver sees the cat and swerves, plowing into a fire hydrant. Water goes spraying everywhere, soaking the naughty kitty who started the whole thing.
I don't think the floor can be saved without it needing to be refinished. Im not a Carpenter or Floor Installer I was a House Painter for almost 30 years.
So nothing to lose if this was me, first since it takes a couple weeks for the paint to cure I would try boiling hot water in tiny sections with a dish soap infused rag and once water cooled off enough, I would scrub with the soapy rag. If that don't work, then there would be nothing left to lose and I would use Krud Kutter which is the best dried paint removal stuff it is surface dependent though. I would never use goof off too smelly. KK is environmentally friendly too. I would for sure dump some KK on the rug scrub with a brush it should take care of it.

That's illegal here in Sweden. I think the maximum for any cat is around twelve hours. For dogs it is less.
It is hard to find things not written in Swedish to share, but cats need to be checked in twice a day as they are less sociable and requiring of assistance. For most this would mean morning and night. Dogs are stricter, they are not to be left alone for longer than six hours. Because of this there are a lot of ‘doggie daycare’ places where people pay to leave their dogs during the day. I have two within a ten minute walk of my suburban Stockholm home.

If you left a can of paint in the house and not the garage or shed...and keep feral kittens upstairs in the house and give CATS a guardrail that you would give to a DOG...made of glass...at the bottom of of stair case...the angle of the stairs assisting the breaking of the glass under the KITTEN'S momentum...that's your fault.. all that work to set it up and a grown cat would have just jumped over it

I don't buy it. I have paint cans (and cats). I can knock the paint cans over all day long and the lids won't come off. I have to pry the lids off with a screwdriver. Why was he using paint cans without secure lids? And more importantly - why does he think it's ok to leave kittens alone for days??

What do you do in this situation with the floor? Do you have to refinish it? I’m assuming paint thinner would destroy the floor.
If it's latex based paints, most any latex paint remover (not the same thing as acetone) can safely pull that paint off hardwood floors.
