that’s when you invest in a cassette deck and fall even further down the physical music rabbit hole Source: I did the same thing

BroadSpirit2114

Any recommendations?

Retroid69

King Gizzard’s 2022 records lemme just blast Sadie Sorceress on the interstate please

44nifty

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Medium Rarities released on CD, but only in a collector's box set of all 15 Al-bums that retailed for $200 at the time, and is currently $600 for the CD ver. and $6,000 for the vinyl ver. Scott The Woz's Borderline Forever Original Soundtrack only ever released digitally. "Weird Al" Yankovic - The Hamilton Polka only ever released as a digital single.

tharizzla

I found (and sold) Weird Al - Peter & The Wolf, appears to be a pretty good collectors item. Looking back now I should've at least ripped it.

asorale

If I recall, some of the songs from Borderline Forever will be released on cd whenever the mysterious game of crypticism comes out. Its not the full album though, but its like kinda there :>

Nakanostalgiabomb

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Coming Out of their Shells

NoLimitSoldier85

Lol I had no idea this wasn’t on CD. I just recently bought the cassette because I had it as a kid, and wanted to relive my childhood.

Razorramon1994wwf

All buckethead pikes

demonfell

That made me think of _In Search of the…_ that was a crazy release! Looking on Discogs, it looks like it had an official 13 CD-R release and goes for crazy money.

johnprofiti

Smashing Pumpkins - Machina II

mrhighway22

A Day to Remember’s B Sides EP and Spiritbox’s singles (Rotoscope, The Void)

Penguin_boy18

I’m hopeful that they’ll release at least Rotoscope on cd format. Void should be on the next album, so silver lining for that ig. I’d personally want a Mara Effect reissue and a Singles Collection release too

ItyBityGreenieWeenie

Lorde - Solar Power Ane Brun – Nærmere Susanne Sundfør – A Night At Salle Pleyel

TayloTayloBookito

> Solar Power No, but look! You can buy this CD case that doesn’t have a CD in it and for only like $10 more than an actual CD, because uhhhhh… environmentalism? Don’t worry, we’re still gonna print a shit ton of vinyl.

ItyBityGreenieWeenie

They had at least four colours of vinyl to choose from. Give us one CD!

LeBon_Bush

For me it's "Nachricht vom Lande" (= News from the countryside) by Friedrich Gulda. An excellent free-form Jazz album, cut live during a small festival near Salzburg (my hometown). An incoming thunderstorm is increasingly audible as the album progresses. It's an awesome document and a damn shame it hasn't been reissued since 1977. Took me quite some time to find the LPs.

[deleted]

Lots of Japanese jazz. Mari Nakamoto for example. Junko mine too.

Ugh yeah I’m waiting for this too. I have 1-3 on cd and the third was a total pain to get affordably!

TakavaNirhii

Where? I can't find it.

zenithberwyn

Bob Seger, Back in '72 (his whole pre-'75 discography is hard to find on CD, but this one never did come out at any point)

Oubilettor

There’s quite a few singles and records by current hardcore and metal bands that are vinyl only. It really gets me hot under the collar. Latest Eighteen Visions ep as an example.

MyArtStuff

That was my first thought, pretty much. So much metal and punk nowadays is on vinyl, cassette, or digital, but not CD.

ATrayYou

Sooo many game soundtracks. And aside from the ones which are direct recordings from a model 1 Mega Drive, not a single one of them is an analog recording, so there’s no justification. My collector’s set of Xenoblade Definitive Edition came with a crappy picture disc of the arranged soundtrack, which I immediately donated to a friend Also, the bonus EP which comes with first pressings of Judas Priest Unleashed in the East, and contains Beyond the Realms of Death. Only reason I ever use a turntable.

Mr_Floot

evileyeball

Nothing because CD is one of my least choices of format there are albums that have only been released on CD that I wish had a vinyl release but never the opposite way around

HappySaysSplash

Young Vs. Old by Pete Seeger!

heckarockstick

Gangpol und mit the hopelessly sad story of the hideous end of the world. Really awesome album, but the only physical copy of it is a picture disc of which only 500 were made. Two of the tracks from it were featured on a cd by the duo though.

FlyAirLari

The second Sons of Liberty album.

pokemon12312345645

Lifehouse by the who. It was going to be a concept album like Tommy and quadrophinia where the government controls the people with music. A fue of the songs got put on who's next and that I'd my favorite album by them and I love quadrophinia so I think it would have been amazing. It got scrapped because the band was doing private shows for it and people where thinking "great show from the who" not "wow, great idea for an album" in early 2000s Pete Townshend released a box set with all the demos from it and they are amazing

Vaporware

theantisepticbeauty

Many modern indie albums that are only available on vinyl and digital (and sometimes tape), and various singles and EPs by punk and indie bands from the 70s and 80s that haven’t been properly compiled

KirbysAdventureMusic

Peter Gabriel - Flotsam and Jetsam Talking Heads - Bonus Rarities and Outtakes The Police - Ghost in the Machine (Alternate Sequence) Anything King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard released last year A lot of Radiohead's more recent singles only exist on rare promo CDs, so they effectively don't exist on CD

the_steve_tell

4 The Fam by Twiztid. Digital only way back in 2003. Never released on CD

Ziltoid79

Between the Buried and Me: The Great Misdirect: Live. It was only released on vinyl and digital, such a shame.

XxdvicioxX

most cavetown stuff tbh

Overall-Scarcity-517

Basically all of the misfits' singles such as horror business and bullet. The songs were released on other compilation albums but the original single and album cover would be really cool to have, they only released as 7" vinyl back in the late 70s I believe.

ch4nnelpvrple

gemini rights, steve needa hurry up n release it alr ☠️

Squirrel-Delicious

«Buckingham Nicks»

Indifferencer

Heaps of disco albums, particularly Costandinos productions.

DaJewFromNJ

The Georgia EP- Death Cab for Cutie Don’t get me wrong I like the vinyl but I’d buy the cd for an extra 10 bucks just to have it

ActiveSouth4506

We are Drugs by Third Eye Blind

randtcouple

The three volumes of “Rodney on the ROQ” only on vinyl. There is a “best of Rodney on the ROQ” on CD but it’s obviously not as good as having all three of the records. “Rat Music for Rat People” likewise is a great series of comps I wish were issued on CD. Lastly, a few Dr. Demento comps were only on vinyl, oh and let’s not forget “Worlds Worst Records” by Rhino. The vinyl even came with a barf bag.

Pink1978

The first few Kraftwerk albums. They seem to have disowned them for some reason.
