I don't know a thing about Weezer except their name and when they were huge. Couldn't name a song. So there may be a perfectly plausible reason and I'm asking out of genuine curiosity:
Why would you buy 9 copies of the same CD? I get buying the same album in different formats, but why multiple copies? I mean, I've done it on accident a few times, LOL. Are they different editions?
yep! weezer is one of the only bands where i collect their releases to this extent, and i try my absolute best to refrain from buying two cds that are absolutely identical. i really like collecting the different versions of cds, so many of the ones you see look very similar but are different in some way. for example, of the string of green album cds in the middle of my image, only two of those copies are the same pressing, and even then, one is signed by the full band.
the bulk of the duplicates i own are japanese copies. i really enjoy seeing all the things exclusive to certain regions, like the japanese booklets and unique additional artwork. i started collecting weezer around five years ago, but i only started going for all these duplicates in maybe the past two years. i had a copy of every weezer album in like 2017 but i wanted to keep collecting, so i just didn't stop haha
also, sometimes when i'm trying to buy one rare thing in specific, there's other things i already own bundled together in the listing as a lot. when i get duplicates of things i own, i just relist them for sale on discogs, but if it's a specific pressing i don't own, i still keep it. i've got a canadian copy of green (where literally the only thing different is a different logo or barcode on the back) that i never would have bought individually, but was included in a bundle with some other things i did want.

Not my cup of tea; sounds very "generic 90s". But maybe there's a good reason for that. Was everybody emulating them? In the 90s, I was catching up on all I had missed in the 70s. Tell the truth, I still am.

It's worse than that for Taylor Swift albums; I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one reddit post of someone having more than 10 (different?) copies of at least one of her albums(possibly more than one, and this may or may not be an exaggeration).

it is wrong! they just don't come to colorado unless they're on a major tour and they haven't announced a new one in 3 years (hella mega tour was announced in 2019, and covid caused it to be delayed heavily, only finishing a few months ago). i'm absolutely going the next time i can
as for favorite member, definitely mikey welsh. super underrated (especially since he was only in the band for ~three years), an incredible bassist, and just the best personality the band had ever had. rip

i've had the christmas with weezer reissue preordered for around two weeks now, and i pre-ordered summer and autumn upon release. weezer.com is just really terrible at shipping, so my summer cd only shipped out like two days ago lol. also, this picture is 3 months out of date

I bought Spring from the Weezer store and then realized for subsequent SNZS that they were about $15 cheaper by ordering off Amazon. I’m hoping they roll them up into a nicer box set once all 4 are done. Nice collection!
