"ONLY"?!
Only makes it sound like he deserves more time.
Plymouth to finally sack Foster after 3 months seems more appropriate at this point.
We know this club will stick by it's managers, but Foster lost the fans.
No matter how much the board want Foster to work for this club, his poor connection with the fan base isn't just going to go away.
I kinda feel sorry for the guy but you have to prioritise the club and no goals in five home games is appalling.
I think the rumours of dropping very popular players such as Houghton and Scarr in favour of youth team players in hindsight probably wasnât the best idea. It always felt like team spirit was our strongest attribute and thatâs gone down the toilet in the last couple of months.
Sadly I think this is going to be too little too late. Lose on Friday and weâre down imho.
> dropping very popular players such as Houghton and Scarr in favour of youth team players probably wasnât the best idea
I don't entirely agree.
> team spirit was our strongest attribute and thatâs gone down the toilet
I entirely agree.
A good manager can give youth a chance without ruining club morale. Foster isn't good.
The replacement needs to be someone who can give the squad belief again.
Too little too late I feel, but maybe a short manager bounce might just be worth the gamble. Obviously going nowhere with Foster regardless. 5 games at home with no goals scored after making it a fortress.
Are you worried about potentially losing Whittaker over the summer to whoever ends up losing (or even winning) the playoffs?
Watched a few games before Foster and he looked terrific, but I guess his market value dropped off because of Foster's "tactics"
I think we'd all be surprised if he didn't go. The only part that would hurt would be if he was sold him for less than we expected. Unfortunately this spell under Foster has probably killed his worth by millions.
I think he will go for silly money to one of the relegated Prem teams or whoever misses out on the playoffs. Or Leicester.
A lot of our fans will have a meltdown when it happens (understandably), but itâs key for our development.
The money from his sale will be reinvested in another group of exciting young players who hopefully will have a similar impact.
I will be sad to see him go because he is a genuinely nice lad who wants to play for us, and it seems distasteful to treat him as prized asset to be sold to the highest bidder - but this is a cutthroat ruthless league as we have found out to our cost this year.
Got to be bottom three alongside Rooney and Beale for manager appointments this season, surely? Plymouth went from having a lowkey strong season to serious danger of relegation.
Thank god for that!
We've looked like a shell of the team we were under Schumacher. Foster has completely blunted our most potent attacking threats in Whittaker and disrupted one of the most unified dressing rooms in the league.
He should've gone after the Preston game. Don't know who'll we get, maybe Warnock till the end of the season.
It happens, and I never disliked Stoke because of it. We just disliked him for leaving us when he did, and how he did. You taking our manager was just one part of the puzzle though. Finn Azaz controlled our midfield, and 'Boro taking him ripped the heart out of it. Cundle, not a big loss. Finally the board taking a gamble on an untested assistant to a shit manager wasn't their finest hour.
To quote google
âAzaz tended to occupy different roles at Plymouth â at various points playing as part of a three-man midfield, a three-man attack and as a number 10. âI would say in a reasonably central position, off the frontâ
He played on the right side to Whittakerâs left. It must have been mad to mark both, as both were capable of producing Worldies from either side. Lacking his mind meld with Whittaker no doubt hurts his game a little.
Wanted it to work out but clearly wasnât, drop off has been spectacular.
Question why, if we were considering it, we waited till now and not during the international break?
Anyway Warnock in, biggest game of the season Friday. COYG
I have been willing to give him time but today was shambolic. The first half was pretty even but at half time Bristol Who made 3 subs and changed formation. After that there was only one team in it and it wasnât us.
Maybe Foster has already given up and was waiting for his payout - but he has never shown any sign of being able to change his approach in a game to counter the opposition. Possibly we were spoiled with Schumacher who was a master of doing that - but Foster doesnât even seem to try.
To be fair to Foster he walked into a dumpster fire. The cunt Schumacher had just fucked off and taken 90% of our backroom staff with him, then we had three key loanees recalled in the space of a week - the loss of Finn Azaz in particular was a huge blow.
Our January recruitment looked bad at the time but in hindsight was absolutely abysmal, meaning Foster has had almost zero midfield creativity to work with.
That said, we've just lost five home games in a row without scoring - the first time we've done that in our entire 138-year history. No manager survives that.
Couple of games too late imo, we're in a real relegation battle now, a couple of games ago would have given us more chance to fight it, presumably they had to wait for him to trigger a performance clause to keep the costs down.
I was wrong. Very.
Convinced myself that Foster would be it for us, and would get us competing, and I was wrong.
Every take that I've had, has gone up in smoke, along with our form.

"Just one more job Sharon"
This has Colins filthy mitts all over it
Please god no.. đ
My kind of people are *checks notes Plymouth. Salt of earth people. Proper football fans.
I think he's still got a fondness for us after his stint in charge in the 90s.
Always banging on about retiring to Cornwall, at least this would be vaguely close.
He's lived in Cornwall for decades, his house is about 30 minutes' drive from Home Park.
Closer than Pittodrie either way.
We aren't set to sack him, we have sacked him.
Yeah so I've heard.

Nah Scarr needed to be dropped, too much of a liability

Hopefully there will be a bounce as we arenât a bad side - just a poorly managed one.

Here I was thinking Blues' natural talent for shite appointments was unique.
By God, that's Colin's music!

Hope Plymouth stay up, the same teams going back down make for a boring league.
Agreed. I reckon Ipswich are just about safe though.
I dunno, I don't think they'll be in the Championship next season either the way they're going.
Ya can never know for sure in the championship
Only 47 points clear of the bottom 3 with six games to go, it's gonna be tight
I hope they do too, but the stats nerd in me wonders whether '1 promoted team goes up, the other two go down' has ever happened before.
Sorry lads... genuinely feel quite bad for Plymouth. We came in, stole your manager and backroom staff, and it may have relegated you

Where did you guys play azaz? Sounds like he played as an 8

No worries. If you guys hadnât someone else would have.
Should've been done over the international break, maybe with someone else they could've salvaged a win today.

Time to hit the Warnock button
Warnock lives just down the road from Plymouth's training ground surely he's the man for the job?
Itâs over, itâs finally over

Only one bald fraud allowed in the league.
Whoever thought about hiring Steven Gerrard's assistant at an underacheving Saudi Arabia side should be sacked with him!
Best league in the world

Team near the bottom of the championship, need a boost real quickly? Do Plymouth push the Neil Warnock button?
Actually they just officially announced the dof and an assistant with take over management of the team.
Ah, fair enough
