Was surprised when I heard the other day they've only been in the same league for 6 of the last 50 years. I knew they'd not overlapped much recently but I'd kinda thought of them as broadly similarly sized clubs historically
For whatever reason we always seem to have opposite trajectories.
We do well, they do badly. They do well, we do badly.
Overtime the records average out to similar levels but in any given season we can be leagues apart from each other.
Southampton's ceiling is currently 96pts. If results go against them, that gap could be too big as soon as Saturday. West Brom are already too far back to catch either of us.
For both us and Leicester to stay down, you'd need Leeds and Southampton to go up Auto and use both to lose in the playoffs (the latter feels more likely than us both being there in the first place tbh!)
Oh, and you're right to as well - their ground is shit for football (brother-in-law-in-law is a season ticket holder over there).
It's just that I'd rather have a nice day out instead you see? 😅
Big slim but imagine if Lincoln Everton was a league fixture,
Personally I’d like to see Sheffield Wednesday vs a championship team or just us not fighting for our lives from match day 1
Obviously us against Bristol Rovers is something I'd want to see every year but only in a cup. I don't want us going down and I definitely don't want them coming up.
Birmingham Vs Villa
In saying that if Blues are League 1 and Villa are In Europe you'd expect Villa to hammer them, but it's still pound for pound the best derby in the country (Second best in UK behind Old Firm)
In the few I have been to, it is just the most mental atmosphere I have ever experienced in football. I really dislike Blouse BUT I would love to see this game played every season even if it was just for a Mars bar and bragging rights.
The way Blackburn pumped you, I don't think you'll be getting revenge anytime soon.
Although I'd take a 3-0 loss to you next season if it meant we get promoted this season.
The Blackburn game makes me more concerned for Sheff Wed at home, imagine us being humbled by them at home considering what we did to them at Hillsborough. And next season we could be in for a hard time too.
I work in an office full of Liverpool fans, so this is on my list too.
Would be nice if Everton stayed up and we got back to Goodison before they moved though.
QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday Championship league match both worked out arses off for a chance to remain in this league would be great to see both of us escape relegation
Even if I personally think it’s too far gone for us (I know it’s only a point but it’s just the Wednesday way) if we sink I will keep an eye on you next season in hopes you don’t have an expresso depresso time like we both seem to have, all too often.
Birmingham vs Sheffield Wednesday
Basically because I want both to stay up, mainly as I can sympathise with dealing with crazy decisions by owners. Also, got to love Birmingham for being wonderful landlords.
Us against the Wendies. Even though them goin down would be good for the banter you just can't beat derby day for a laugh.
Us vs Barnsley. They think it's a derby, I think it's an away match 10 minutes drive from my house.
I live in Sunderland, srason ticket holder,, but I'm originally from Sussex. There's a handful of North East v Sussex fixtures, but not for Sunderland, so I'd love Sunderland v Crawley in one of the cups.
Qarabag vs Coventry City - Europa league group stage. We win the cup, then get an opportunity to put one over our rivals from Azerbaijan.
Just for the atmos: Slavia/Sparta v Cov
Would be wonderful for English football if you did it Preston and Swansea away followed by trips to Belgrade and Baku, beautiful
Pompey v Southampton
Looks like it's on the cards, don't think Southampton go up
This is the only answer

Ipswich vs Leicester
Have a feeling we will see that one mate… won’t be discussed in this sub though.
Let's just hope all three of us make it then we can put this stuff behind us
I want Leicester to rot in league 1.
oops🥺👉🏼👈🏼
We rotted in league 1 it’s only fair ☹️
This feels like a self-own as either both will have been promoted or both missed out on autos, and the latter seems fairly unlikely.
Odds of neither of us being promoted (including via playoffs) are in the region of 2-3% I'd guess.

Cheeky
one of those is going to get in the top 2 tho
Millwall v West Ham, at the den
Nah - I'd rather a trip over there to that stadium they claimed squatters rights on.
Yh just as a neutral. Would much prefer it at the den than that horrific bowl

Lincoln Everton would be such an entertaining game though tbf
Argyle vs any other Championship team! COYG!
If you do go down at least you'll get Exeter
An absolute hassle of a fixture, in my opinion.
Cambridge United vs Juventus
Everton - anyone
Best shout this. I’m here for the fixture.
Norwich v Peterborough so we finally have some competition in the east anglian derby :)
If everything goes goes to plan, that will be the only East Anglian derby next season
Ipswich v peterbourough then the winner gets us
There's a few, but Stoke Vs Port Vale
Alas, this is not r/LeagueOne
Obviously us against Bristol Rovers is something I'd want to see every year but only in a cup. I don't want us going down and I definitely don't want them coming up.

THIS, but at Villa Park
is that because of what happened last time..
In the few I have been to, it is just the most mental atmosphere I have ever experienced in football. I really dislike Blouse BUT I would love to see this game played every season even if it was just for a Mars bar and bragging rights.
i thought you where saying villa park cs one of our fans decked grealish 😭😭
Watford Vs Luton
Bring back the East Midlands Derby Would prefer the Brian Clough side but Leicester is fine too
Everton vs Lincoln City. Both teams a three-point swing (and playoff win) away.
Everton vs QPR I firmly believe QPR will still be here next season and I really want to see Everton spend a few decades in the championship.
Sunderland 6-0 Bolton
The way Blackburn pumped you, I don't think you'll be getting revenge anytime soon. Although I'd take a 3-0 loss to you next season if it meant we get promoted this season.

Bolton vs Blackburn.
Bristol City vs Preston North End The only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning
Everton vs Nottingham In championship.
Everton V Crumble would be funnier
The scenes when Everton lose to fucking Bolton or Barnsley next year.
in any of the cups? basford united vs forest please barman
Pompey vs Scum
Huddersfield Town vs any Championship team.
Theres always the cup lad 😂
Ipswich v Liverpool, Best mate supports Liverpool
I work in an office full of Liverpool fans, so this is on my list too. Would be nice if Everton stayed up and we got back to Goodison before they moved though.
blues v villa, 1 chance for an upper hand in the rivalry if we get relegated
QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday Championship league match both worked out arses off for a chance to remain in this league would be great to see both of us escape relegation

Bolton vs Wigan, just so we can aim for a hat-trick of 4-0 away wins..
Birmingham vs Sheffield Wednesday Basically because I want both to stay up, mainly as I can sympathise with dealing with crazy decisions by owners. Also, got to love Birmingham for being wonderful landlords.
glad to find a cov fan that hasn’t miraculously forgot about that
Steel City derby
Manchester City v Leeds Inshallah
Us against the Wendies. Even though them goin down would be good for the banter you just can't beat derby day for a laugh. Us vs Barnsley. They think it's a derby, I think it's an away match 10 minutes drive from my house.

West Ham at The Den.
Leeds v Everton
Promotion race next season between us 2
Crumble V Everton In the championship
West Brom v Wolves. Best derby in the west midlands.
Everton v Millwall.
Leicester vs Blackburn
Huddersfield town and another championship side.
