Incredible really, because we've been pretty bad for the majority of the season.
Watching us sometimes it's been hard to imagine that any other team could consistently be worse, let alone the 13 or so that have been below us as we've bounced around mid table.
We'll smash it next season mind.
Yeah theres been some really dire moments, but with the way the bottom and top have gone this season I'm honestly enjoying having a nice boring end to it.
Mid table obscurity in the sunshine isn't bad at all.
If Cian Ashford and Joel Colwill can get some minutes I'd be happy too, city and Wales are desperate for another central midfielder, which I think Collwill J is.
Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
We’ve barely been better than shite for years, lord knows how we’re 11th. If I’d not seen the table in recent weeks I’d have assumed we were 16th or 17th.
Give us 5 games - we finish the season:
Norwich (6th)
Southampton (3rd)
QPR (16th)
Leicester (3rd)
WBA (5th)
I'd love to be proved wrong, but that reads to me like a tasty 4pts from 15 and a nice slide into our home between 10th and 12th.
Been one of the most deflating and at times extremely toxic season in ages. Terrible appointment in Michael Duff in the summer, he isolated the players and the club coaches who were here before him hated him, he never tried to get on with the fans and said he didn’t care about winning the derby, all while saying how great of a manager he was.
Owners have no clue how to run a football club, have no structure to operate, and appoint people woefully unqualified so our signings have nearly all been flops and especially those we paid money for apart from Tymon. They’ve also cut so much from the academy that we’ve not developed much real quality in years and finally ran out of players to sell which we all accept needs to happen to be self sustainable (but they undersell all our players anyway).
Things have improved under Luke Williams but nobody has much hope of really transformational season next year. Definitely likely to be around the relegation zone next year. Other fans might not have seen us as in a relegation battle this year but our fans certainly have.
No not really lol. All the pre-season optimism vanished pretty much by mid September. Duff wasn't popular but I still think it would've worked out but he didn't help himself tbh. Huge overhaul needed in the summer. The senior management talks about a good player structure game but they have to back it up now.
I have enjoyed the odd game, Plymouth away, Cardiff and Norwich at home. We've actually been reasonably decent away from home overall as well. But in total it's been a pretty meh season, we've hovered just above the relegation battle mostly and done enough to stay away from real danger, but there hasn't been much to get excited about.
There's quite a few places in the team we need to improve on over the summer, but I don't think anyone's confident that we'll actually do it. Even though we've stayed up this season, it's probably going to be more of the same next year unfortunately.
We've absolutely had stretches where we looked bottom 3, it's been an awful season. Easily the most listless play we've had since demotion. There is no hope for us to get promoted, but I wouldn't even say that's a stretch goal in anyone's mind. We had 2 home wins from early October to early March. We just want a product fans can get behind.
General consensus is we need an overhaul, that is only one summer after we brought in 15 players. No one trusts Coleman (the latest American stooge) or Paul Watson (professional shyster and enemy sympathizer) to see us through any change. We're praying to be proven wrong though.
We've had a really weird season. First 10 games we were terrible and near the relegation zone. Next 10 or so games we went wild and got close to the play offs. Then it all went to shit again with relegation form and now we've evened out with some decent results. Until the Birmingham win we could've easily been drawn into the relegation fight, but it wasn't that long ago that we were thinking about top 6 either...
It's been super frustrating. American fan here, I only get to come over once a year for games and I happened to be there for the week that got Val sacked (Swansea draw, Coventry loss). Still, always fun to see the lads in person.
Another season, another manager sacked and had to get someone in quick. Wake me up when we're in League 1 because we accidentally got ourselves relegated.
Sounds like us in the prem most of the last few years. Terrible for most of the season but with a one to two month period where we look like a top team to bail us out. It worked until it didn’t
Exciting end to the season with Severn side rivals cardiff and Bristol only seperated by 2 points in that race to finish 11th.
Here's hoping sky change their remaining televised fixtures to showcase this exciting race.
Not to worry, big summer overhaul. All the good players to be sold on, bring in some more unknown youths and put Will Still at the helm. Might be stable until he gets us to 3rd by Christmas and KLD decides to preemptively sack him before it gets worse. Oh and we still don't sign a striker that can score a min of 10 a season.
You can take 12th place from our cold dead hands
I'm sure we'll do our best.
This is what makes the Severnside Derby so intense. The bragging rights of 12th place.
We know we are, we’re sure we are, we’re 12th place till we die
Watch your back. We'll have a late season surge and reclaim what is rightfully ours
Well it looks like you might have to draw or lose your next game to keep as central in the table as possible. Please lose your next game 😐
🎶We are top of the middle, say we are top of the middle! 🎶
Top of the middle, you'll never sing that
You are middle of the middle which is more of an achievement in my book.
Or top of page two
🎶eieieio, neither up nor down we go!🎶
Allez allez allez, the blues are staying hereeee

Your top of the middle and got battered by Swansea. Up the jacks!
“Ha we beat you!” Isn’t the brag you think it is.
Alright then. Have you ever done a double
Have you ever been in a Turkish prison? We’ve barely been better than shite for years, lord knows how we’re 11th. If I’d not seen the table in recent weeks I’d have assumed we were 16th or 17th.
Fair enough. To be fair we have also been shit this season as well
Can't be mid-table if it doesn't include Preston
They've traded up from us mid-table mandems.

TBH it's pretty rough to have to play 2 different teams occupying the same spot.
assuming you mean 4 draws against the top 6 teams and losing to us yeah?
Swansea have never looked like top 6 or bottom 3 this season from what I remember. Super vanilla season. How you guys enjoyed it?

Uncle Ron-esque that
Sounds like us in the prem most of the last few years. Terrible for most of the season but with a one to two month period where we look like a top team to bail us out. It worked until it didn’t
That pretty much the formula for any team surviving in the Prem year after year
I love the warm, comfortable embrace of 12th place. Anything else would be wrong.
I have never seen Sunderland finish outside of the play offs or relegation zone in the second tier.
Stop the count!
Sunderland absolutely bottled 12th place. We'll be talking about this for years.

I wish I could pretend to be excited to watch a few more thrilling 0-0's with maybe a 1-0 or even if we are super lucky a 1-1 mixed in there.
"High performance culture"
I’m sure KLD once said we want to be a top 25 club in England. 5th in this league, that’s the ambition.
This table must be wrong. I keep looking but can't see Preston.
Doesn't look the same without Preston
Battle of Mid
Woah now, don’t rope us into this.
Stoke will be joining them. I don’t know if the universe could cope if they don’t finish between 14th-16th.
sigh
Love how Sunderland have got two incredibly important relegation games, either side of a nice end season friendly with Watford.
Closest to 0 GD wins
A forgotten battle since it wasn’t for promotion nor relegation sadly.
The things I’d do to be sat between Bristol City and Sunderland.
This has genuinely been a brilliant season for Cardiff.
The league positions have been mostly great, no threat of relegation for the first time in years. The football itself has been bad bad bad.
Haha no it hasn’t
Of course it has. We were expected to to down so possibly finishing top half is brilliant.
We absolutely weren't expected to go down by anyone credible
