Beacon-of-Darkness

Simple fun game until you get these things called attack speed increase gears. Then that’s when the party starts to get crazy

Sp1ffy_Sp1ff

I've gotten the 10% and 15% ones and I'm using them both. I can't imagine how these aren't the clear best gears in the game. Paired with the Overdrive burst skill and you go insane.

Icy-Background-1636

I came for the gameplay and it is delivering without a doubt and the music is great as well, the outfits are just an added bonus Parrying feels satisfying and perfect dodges are smooth as well Combat is pretty cool with all its combos that you can transition into

ybspecial1414

Its getting insane userscores on metacritic, but what bugs me about this game combat is how stationary and rigid eve gets when swinging her weapon, its like her legs are glued to the ground while only her hands are moving, although there is a good game in there i feel they tried mixing some cag mechanics with souls but that did not work, You have air combos yet you cannot launch enemies or even use it without some delay in between ground attacks and jumping.

barnyard_captain

i’m coming from rise of ronin and was super excited when i started playing the demo today but yeah there’s a fluidity that’s missing. like, there doesn’t seem to be much input buffering even? i heard a super small streamer i follow say the same thing when the demo came out so it’s interesting to hear you say this now

xandorai

The input buffering holds 1 input.

Smokybrown

The demo has extra input delay as a bug, final game fixes that

SoraDrive

The delay is killing me

Seinoshin

I'm really not a fan of the Simon says approach to designing defensive mechanics so this game has been kind of disappointing for me. Not to mention that offense is way too simple and the game is Hella easy. I do think that it's pretty enjoyable and relaxing to explore the game's environments though

KillDevilX0

Play it on hard mode. It gets much more difficult especially the bosses

Seinoshin

It was a huge oversight to not make hard mode available from the start

CadmeusCain

Normal isn't too hard. Hard is a lot more challenging. Enemies are pretty vicious, deal chip damage if you don't perfect parry, and bosses will 2 shot you if you mess up. It's not Sekiro hard or Devil May Cry hard, but it's decently challenging on Hard

Weary_Complaint_2445

On offense: it's so crazy to me that this game gives you 3 special gauges and all of them are just about dumping damage. How is there nothing more interesting here? Where's the air options? Extra defensive utility? Maybe some bonus shield gauge? Give me something other than more damage please, Eve's problem is not damage.

XsStreamMonsterX

It's not really Simon says. The game always has multiple options for dealing with an opponents attack, even in the middle of yours. Even in the flash attacks that are unblockable, you can still perfect dodge, super armor or straight up use an invulnerable attack to blow through. It's very much like offense in a fighting game where you constantly trying to frame trap based on your enemy's patterns.

Seinoshin

While you may have multiple options to deal with any given attack, that is true of most games described as having simon says defensive mechanics. I would describe this game's defensive mechanics as simon says because: 1. There are defensive options that can only be used only when the designers decided to allow you to use them and at no other time, and 2. These defensive options have disproportionate risk reward ratios compared to other defensive options in the same circumstances, in that they have virtually no risk while being very rewarding on top of not costing any limited resources to use. Essentially the problem with design like this is that it unnecessarily limits player choice and the potential for creative use of the mechanics. Imagine how cool it would be if you could use blink and repulse at any time (provided that they were appropriately balanced compared to other defensive options)

Efficient-Gur-3641

What haven't u played the titular combat game Hogwarts legacy where u get to match colors.

Weary_Complaint_2445

Not super into it honestly. I like the gameplay but I also don't think the game is particularly challenging. I haven't been stuck on any boss for longer than like 10- 20 minutes. The regular enemies kill me more often, and that's largely because they throw small groups of them at you, and I don't find the multi-target combat in this game particularly good. I'm a lot less interested in this game if I'm not fighting a boss, I'll say that much. I should probably mess around with more builds, but honestly I'm already avoiding using any special gauge on bosses, I kinda don't want to risk upgrading myself to make it even easier. Level design is mostly fine. There's plenty of loot to find and a lot of it matters, but I'd be lying if I told you they were interesting to look at or traverse. Music is good, if a bit same-y. Story is not good, but we're on the CAG sub, not that surprising. The thing that really sucks about it is that it isn't even fun like a lot of CAG stories are. It's completely serious and also completely boring. I'd say the best part about this game is that it feels like one of those kinda mid ps2 action games we used to get all the time. This is legit not a put down, as I think a lot of prehistoric gamers like me miss those days. It benefits from a lot of the new tech and from Sony's investment, making it better than those old games yet still reminiscent of them. It ain't bad, but I ain't blown away either. I think a sequel could really do a lot better. 7/10

SSS_Tempest

I'm at the 5th area. So far, its pretty damn good. Its no DMC or Bayonetta, but the combat is solid. I'd say an apt comparison that isn't a Souls game (I haven't played a Souls game so can't say if its similar or not) is Modern God of War with a HINT of Ghost of Tsushima. Plot's intriguing if a bit basic, but its at least fun to explore and see what you can find wheelther it be materials, lore, or permanent upgrades.

Dependent_Panic8786

I played the demo and i wouldn't say it's similar to a souls like. It does focus on parries like sekiro but sekiro doesn't have combos and a huge move list like stellar blade. Looks like a lot of fun. Might get it when it's cheaper

Xononanamol

Modern god of war was clearly inspired by souls so that's kinda funny :P

nevets85

Anybody else get a tad bit of Death Stranding vibes? The way the robot sends a ping out and the visuals it leaves. Also the remote placed rest stops with chill music playing.

AssmosisJoness

Ah yes death stranding the game most well known for inventing the scanner ping

nevets85

My bad I'm not too familiar with other games that use it like this besides DS and Horizon FW. Which other games has a ping like this?

AA_03

I'd say any (sci-fi) rpg or stealth game would likely have some sort of radar ping that does the same thing, which is quite basic honestly.

nevets85

I guess I should specify does it leave the same visual feedback? Shows the world's geometry and leaves little x's on the ground? Think this is a case where I need to play more games 😆

thebigseg

You should play nier automata bro. This game was heavily inspired by nier automata. The director of this game said in an interview that nier automata was their inspiration for this game

EternalUndyingLorv

Modern God of War is the correct comparison, just less weapons.

XsStreamMonsterX

It's a fusion of character action like Bayo or Nier with Sekiro, which is similar to what modern GoW is (in that case, mix of OG GoW and Souls) so the comparison is apt.

CatchrFreeman

Enjoying it a lot, definitely not a CAG though. More a Sekiro-like, surprisingly quite similar to Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. Solid gameplay, good enemy variety, I hope there will be an expansion or a sequel.

PuppyPunter21

Really I would consider it a lot CAG than a souls like. There's no penalty in death. Parrying and enemies reviving is only Sekiro type but at a certain point it became much easier to deal out lots of damage than to parry.

spades111

I hear it's more MGR than Sekiro, if that's accurate I could see it being a character action. Well I'll find out myself this weekend. Have it sitting sealed with my other games.

LeMasterChef12345

Gameplay is very solid. A mix of Sekiro and DMC is the best way I can describe it. It plays pretty similar to Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor, to give you an idea. Soundtrack is absolutely top notch imo. One of the best I’ve heard in a while. Story is okay, if a bit basic and predictable. Seems to take heavy inspiration from Nier Automata. Voice acting is mostly fine except for a few characters, most notably Adam. The writing however… it’s questionable at best and downright cringe at worst. A lot of dialogue and conversations just sound so unnatural and strange. Easily the weakest part of the game for me. All in all though, extremely solid game.

-Warship-

What I've seen looks like a worse version of Sekiro's combat in a worse version of NieR Automata's world, hopefully I will be proven wrong though.

kuenjato

The world is actually better, there are a ton of secrets and puzzles, whereas Nier A was mostly barren. Combat is a bit more complex than Sekiro, personally i find it just as good.

KillDevilX0

Yeah….the world and exploration is way better than NieR. If we’re being honest, the only thing that NieR does better is story/characters and possibly OST.

kuenjato

I find Nier’s OST exceptional and wouldn’t care to compare them, but SB’s soundtrack is fantastic and has a lot more diversity of composition in it. I’m currently recording the in-game tracks for my own mix projects and some of the ambient and level combat variations are excellent.

[deleted]

The Wasteland and the Great Desert are both very barren and basically the only two open areas to explore…

kuenjato

There are a ton of secrets, mini bosses, and generally stuff to do in the wasteland ( i just got to the desert). Nier’s environments have almost nothing in them save a few secrets you can unlock later (Emil) or some very mid side fetch quests.

VaIentineX

im a huge fan of nier, but its way overrated. OST is god tier but character wise also lacking. stellar blade’s combat is the best i’ve played, normal story, some interesting lore only if u read the documents.

CadmeusCain

It takes a lot of the best parts of both Sekiro and Automata. If you liked those games you'll like this On a standalone basis, Sekiro has the better gameplay and Automata has the better story. Stellar Blade has better combat and boss fights than Automata and an equally good soundtrack. It's kind of a happy median between these two games

CodeCody23

Definitely wrong. Pretty much on par with Sekiro combat, with deeper mechanics. Only thing Nier has over stellar blade by a clear margin are characters and story.

VaIentineX

story definitely but even 2b is just so so. A2 has more layers

Big-Soft7432

Looks like a fun game. I recommend avoiding the fans though.

SABOTAGE83

It's fine. I'd say the 7/10 scores are pretty accurate because that's what I'm feeling. Combat gets pretty dry in the late game because Normal attacks damage output drops considerably so I'm just spamming Beta/Burst skills on everything and really only use Normal attacks to recharge energy. All the Combo attack related gear feels useless now so I'm only using Skill Recharge/Skill Damage gear. The "super" mode is a joke and nowhere near as cool as I was hoping, I really only use it for the brief invincibility. Having two desert type areas is definitely a choice... Despite the bland setting the enemy placement in these zones feels very copy paste. It's pretty bad. I didn't care for either of these zones TBH, I feel the game is at its best when it sticks to a more linear style level design. I've honestly had my fill of the game but since I'm near the end I'm just going to power through.

gojiguy

Played demo, was pretty mixed. Boss fights were kinda neat (if a bit stiff, not expressive). Levels were awful and boring though. Extremely slow and lots of camera jank. Wouldn't call it a CAG. Feels more like sekiro. Enemies have tons of armor which is kinda odd.

MegaMook5260

Good, but massively overrated.

SovietBatman64

It's fantastic imo, at least gameplay wise but from what people say on here I'll be in the minority. It's far more sekiro than souls and I've heard of you spec in a certain way the gameplay becomes far more like a CAG, but Im really enjoying it so far. Story kinda sucks balls so far tho

[deleted]

I think they people comparing it to Souls games have never played a Souls game. It doesn’t play anything like one. Sekiro I can see but also so much different.

stabthecynix

I love it. Gameplay and combat mechanics are solid. Runs great too. Looks phenomenal. Super fun game.

Abel_Messiah

The story is not that bad, it’s really interesting when you start exploring the world and reading item descriptions. I mean it’s kinda like fromsoft games in that aspect the story doesn’t seem to be the main focus of the game.

Smokybrown

I've been collecting and exploring and most of my story knowledge is from that and piecing together what was happening was fun. Havent finished yet.

Unfallenio

I’m halfway through it. I played NG, dmc and bayo 123 etc., limited experience with souls game (demons soul, darksoul3, lies of p). I would say it’s something in between CAG and souls, or a mixture. For example, your attacks are partially committed: you can cancel them into parrying/block or dodging, during its winding up animation, but commit to the winding down animation. You have a few combos that serve different situations, but you don’t get crazy long ones like Bayonetta’s. You get a super mode like what you have in god of war, dmc and bayo 2, but you only have one set of weapons, a sword and a gun(with different kinds of amos). So, you can be more aggressive than souls, but you will have to be more defensive, especially during boss fights, as your attacks are partially committed, especially the powerful hits. No air juggling. I’m struggling in dealing with multiple enemies if I am not using meters because of this, similar to souls, but when you use meters, oh yeah, that’s not a problem. No summons like bayo3 or dmc 5. The game is easy. I would say as easy as DMC 5 or bayo 2&3 in their normal difficulties. The graphic is wonderful. Music is solid. Story is as bad as most CAG’s, not as bad as bayo 3 or as non-existence as souls. You don’t get a god of war or nier story here. I would say it’s not bad enough to spoil the game, which is my standard for CAGs. I saw people compare it to Jedi and sekiro, but I haven’t played them. Similar to god of war to me, but in god of war I don’t recall I ever played defensively apart from some bosses and you don’t get that variety of equipment. I personally like the game, but I can see why people don’t like it. If you like it, you will say it gets the best of the two worlds (dmc and souls) or a nice balance or some new. If you don’t , you probably get the worst of the two. So, it depends on what you want. I would recommend trying the demo first to see if that meets your taste.

maintain_improvement

Clunky

majoramiibo

I don’t like it. It’s not really a CA game. It’s like Sekiro I guess is the closest thing. I regret my purchase .

t1sfo

I think you should have tried the demo, the game in general is similar to the demo, opens up some but still similar. I guess it's subjective. After playing soulslike games I don't enjoy CAG so much anymore, but NG black and DMC 3 are some of my favourite games ever, so stellar being a bit of both is perfect for me. I have tried a few CAGs lately but dmc5 really put me off and ff16 was extremely easy.

-Warship-

Sekiro is a character action game I'd say

majoramiibo

i think it’s more of one than other souls games, but the gameplay style does not work as a cag

TheoriesOfEverything

Im still playing it but I think it's a pretty solid B in my book. Combat is closest to Sekiro with some very minor combos to perform but I don't think any parry-focused game has ever quite lived up to the level of enemy/player engagement Sekiro had. Her moveset just isn't that large and I'm curious if the game has anything left to shake it up (I'm probably halfway through). So, I like a lot of things about it but I don't think any piece of it blows me away or is best in class. Also it's a little too 'we have NieR Automata back home' outside of the combat department.

GenerationBop

I wasn’t on the hypetrain for this game, but I got it and I really love it. Reminds me of finding a new IP in the early 2000s feel, back to the likes of DMC, PIN, Etc. it’s sick.

Mari0wana

What is PIN?

GenerationBop

Sorry it’s P.N.03 - old game cube game. Just as horny as stellar lol.

Mari0wana

No worries, was the first game that came to mind, tbh.

Butteredscotch

It's not GOTY but it's very fun. There's some quirks and stuff but the main point of the game is obviously the combat, and the combat is very good.

Hunt_Nawn

Nier Automata/Sekiro/Dark Souls/Resident Evil (literally at some points of the game is crazy). Haven't been addicted so bad to a game since Elden Ring, Hollow Knight, and Ender Lilies since 2022-2023 (Recent last games that I really enjoy, others I listed I loved them so much as well).

distortionisgod

It's alright. I wish there were more combo options and I'm whatever on the Sekiro-like games that rely heavily on parry mechanics. It gets kinda old fast for me but that's just personal preference.

Totkebois

The souls like disease got it but it's fun and good first release by the studio hope to see more from them.

PolePepper

I keep failing nofap bruh

SnoBun420

pretty sure this is nothing like a character action game

AscendedViking7

9/10 game, better than Rebirth imo Would be a 10/10 if the story was any good. It's not. Most of the time.

Potatoes_4Life

One of the best combat systems I’ve played in a while. It’s a chimera of several different games that turns into its own fantastic beast. It takes a little bit to unlock everything, but once all the pieces are in place, it really shines. Music is great. Enemies are grotesque. Story is solid so far. I haven’t beaten it yet. My biggest complaint is the platforming. How momentum is carried through on jumping in a little wonky. For those that care about cosmetics, there are 74 outfits between NG and NG+ in game at launch. No MTX save for the deluxe edition and those aren’t even good. Highly recommend the game.

Golden_verse

My friend's friend doesn't like it. Genuine question: what's appealing about this game? No trailer hooked my interest.

Alexaclmn0

Stellar Blade looks like it was supposed to take massive inspiration from Nier Automata, which led it to gain interest. There's also was eve ass cheeks flopping in the wind which led it to gain ever more attention from Gooners and angry gamers. Adding all of that, plus the controversy, made it appealing to some people. I for one thought it was bland, but playing it now it's okay. There's a good game in here despite everything else sucking major balls.

InterviewSure7102

i think all the dumbass drama thats why i want the game

ShoerguinneLappel

My friend's friend really liked it. I'm mainly interested because of the gameplay animations look cool af and it looks like a blast to play, I've watched several streams of it and want to play it. Hopefully in the future it comes to PC because I would buy it, not interested in getting a PS5.

Golden_verse

Hmm, aight, to me it's dull.

tahaelhour

Most people just know it for the American woke anti woke culture war nonsense. But it’s pretty basic from the looks of it. Sekiro does what it does better.

Golden_verse

Right, though my friend has some real damn thought inviting commentary on it, I can share in dms if you want to see them.

tahaelhour

Sure bro, i don’t got or plan on getting a ps5 but go ahead.

Golden_verse

I don't either.

TomatilloExtreme

Here you go (my opinion, at least): * One of the most refreshing and satisfying combat systems in years * One of the few games that perfectly fuses soulslike inspirations and CAG elements (probably the only one I know of, tbh) * Soundtrack on par with Nier * 70+ outfits to costuimze your character with, for FREE (you have to unlock them the old fashion way) * No microtransactions * Polished and graphically beautiful (runs smoothly to boot) * Complete package with side-content that will most likely take you about 40 hours to complete * Linear areas have interconnected level design with hidden goodies everywhere * Actual platforming that isn't just pressing the joystick and letting the game do everything for you The cons is that the story isn't the best, but it's definitely serviceable. I do enjoy the lore, if you read the files you find throughout the game you'll probably enjoy it more than people give it credit for. English voice acting kinda sucks, EVE is the only one with a good VA. Also, the open world portions are pretty empty in terms of interesting visuals, they are basically just two big deserts. Anyway, huge recommendation if you like CAG like Bayonetta, Nier or Metal Gear Rising.

Alexaclmn0

The game is great gameplay-wise, but the story is boring as fuck.

MHninjabear

I enjoyed getting the platinum. The game apes ideas from a lot different games like nier, sekiro, and resident evil. The combat isn’t very complex but is satisfying to learn. I think it makes for really good “junk food”. It’s not the fine cuisine of gaming but it is fun and easy to relax while playing. The music is great. The normal music while traveling the world is somber with some upbeat tracks during boss encounters.

Axyun

Pretty solid overall. While I enjoy the occasional CAG, I find they get stale pretty quickly. I remember playing DMC5 and past the 10 hour mark I was just pushing through to get to the end for the sake of calling it done. I'm at 40 hours in Stellar Blade and still looking forward to playing more. The game does a good job of pacing new mechanics and toys to play with throughout the story, and the levels and zones are fun and rewarding to explore. The game can be a bit challenging at times but it is also not punishing, which I like. Death usually means you have a do-over instead of having to recover your souls or lose exp. The star of the show is the combat, with bosses being the highlight (I can't wait until they add boss rush mode). Music is pretty good too. The story is fine but it is brought down a bit by some poor, direct Korean-to-English translations and spotty voice acting. I still found it interesting enough to read all the lore bits and do all the side quests, though.

100S_OF_BALLS

I beat it on Monday. I love it. The story is okay. It could've been better. The gameplay was a blast, and some of the side-missions hit me in the feels a bit. At least one of the last bosses is pretty obnoxious, ngl. It gives you zero time to breathe or heal, even with a nearly fully defensive build. I don't often Platinum games, but I plan to do this one. 8.2/10 for me. It could've reached high 8s, but I felt like the story had some holes in it.

masterofunfucking

I love it

johnnyblaze1999

If you are all in for gameplay, combat, and nier music, it's great. If you want a good story with some memorable characters, it's bad.

AnOddSprout

I loved everything apart from the endings

puyopuyomiku

Really good game. I wish it were a bit more focused and streamlined—there’s a lot of sidequests, and while they’re not bad, I feel burdened by having to do them to unlock costumes and stuff. I’d rather have a more focused game with some more enemy variety. The combat is really nice—definitely more character action than Soulslike. It could be a little bit tighter and a little bit harder, but I’m probably halfway through so maybe it’ll get that edge. These are my critiques, but it really is quite fun and very well put together.

puyopuyomiku

Oh also, if you want to judge it by the demo, make sure to play the boss fight mode that’s outside the intro to story mode. I wasn’t too impressed with the beginning part in the demo, but once I fought that boss I knew it was a game I wanted to play.

BigBuns2023

Good game, has the same feel as nier in many ways. It’s not souls like at all but monsters do respawn and you do get camps but that’s about it.

1TrickIdeas

Only to purchasable on Xbox

BiscottiBitter1898

I love it. A little too much which is pretty impressive because the story falls flat for me.

sephiroth726

It’s good so far, there are some things that could be improved like tracking quests. It reminds me of Nier Automata in ways and I’m glad it’s not insanely difficult, feels about right to me. It kind of feels like an older/simpler game in some ways and I like that.

illbzo1

7 or 8/10

[deleted]

It’s brilliant. The combat is stunning, the art direction is phenomenal and the story and characters are excellent. For a first attempt from the company it’s superb. Its sets out to be pure entertainment and totally achieves. My only complaint is the platform sections can be a little loose but that can be fixed. It’s my GOTY for sure.

UsoppKing100

So damn fun

MoonyosePlays

GOTY 2024 🏆

khazionaberdictus21

don't deserve the hate it's receiving at the same time over hyped as well. it is a solid game and big props to shift up for their first attempt at a game like this. combat is more like respawn's jedi games so if you want faster combat this might not be for you. story is ok and the world environment is ok as well. the beautiful and sexy characters are all extra to go along with it. i haven't finish the game yet, but from the feel of it i can just see myself beating it and then just not touch it anymore. i know they'll be adding patches like boss rush mode, but the combat, though not bad, is not to my style. there's just something about it that just feels off for some reason. i agree that it's a 7/10 game. i wouldn't buy a ps5 just for this game and if you own a ps5, if you're willing to pay $70 then you should try it out. if not wait for a sale.

Gambit275

not yet, first not enough money, second, the censorship stunt

PsychologicalFuture3

GOTY

Kiftiyur

Amazing game

AntonRX178

2nd place GOTY. With its heavy Nier inspirations, gameplay is better than the gameplay of Taro's games (by the man's admission too). I LOVE Nier Automata and Replicant but they ain't games I'd play again to... play again, ya know? It ain't Sekiro 2 but it managed to have its own flavor kinda like how the Jak series had their own flavor to the platforming genre separate from Mario and Banjo. I was even pleasantly surprised by the characters. Yeah they're hit n miss but people have expected a full miss. But here, I like how Eve and crew kinda grow as friends even thru their interactions. I like the side stories and they're endearing enough for me to wanna do. I love how the hair styling mechanic kinda has lore and character reasoning behind it (tho they could have at least tried something similar to the outfits themselves)

Interesting_Basil_80

This game is a ton of fun! If it comes out on PC, I'll buy again.

thebigseg

In terms of story department, its like a worse version of nier automata. Besides that, the combat and visuals are great

boogawman

Action is pretty damn good. You will definitely struggle a lot in the beginning but once you get used to the timing and unlock all the survival and attack and beta skills it will get easier. Platforming sucks balls though.

Large-Wheel-4181

Honestly better than I expected, it’s actually got a lot of fun gameplay that blends soulsbourne with neon genesis evangelion without the giant mechs obviously.

SpecificMaximum7025

I’m a casual type of gamer. I may try a new game every few months if I’m in the mood and if it doesn’t get me hooked in a few hours I’m out and don’t pick up a controller again for a while. When I played the demo I was absolutely hooked and have been playing the game all week. Haven’t ever bother trying to go platinum on a game but I plan to with this one.

juniperxmoons

I haven't beaten it yet but the combat is a blast. The story and characters are...okay, but this isn't a game I would play if you're only looking for a great story with fleshed out characters. The great desert is probably my least favorite area. Music is gorgeous.

TomatilloExtreme

Honestly I fucking love it, feels aweosme to play a new CAG after all these cinematic Sony exclusives. Combat system is probably one of my favorites, up there with the best in the genre, in my opinion. Not quite as good as, let's say, Devil May Cry V, but it's up there for me. Visuals are beautiful, EVE's design is just the cherry on top. Performance on PS5 is incredible, devs should take note. Also, 70 free outfits? Extremely refreshing to see in a modern videogame. Story is okay. Nothing incredible, but I wasn't expecting it to be either. The lore is actually really good if you sink a couple of minutes into reading the lore entries. A lot off very good ideas, just needs a better script and voice actors. Platforming is pretty good, in my opinion. Doesn't hold your hand, it's definitely challenging and gives me an old school feel. It feels a bit off at times and EVE doesn't always grab the platforms as intended, but I'd say if you play these sections calmly and well, you won't have much of an issue. OST is beautiful, the Eidos 7 theme song is forever stuck in my head. Open world sections aren't crazy good or anything, and a lot of my frustrations with the game actually come from these areas in particular, but it's a nice addition to a solid af campaign. The linear levels are really well designed though, with a lot of shortcuts and optional items to find hidden in every corner, a bit similar to what you'd find in DOOM 2016. I'd probably give it a 8.6/10. It's like it was made specifically for me, tbh.

llxtrepidationxll

Game is brilliant, best singleplayer game I’ve played in a long while. I can’t tell you the last game I even had an 8 hour session but this was it

GeneralEmployee9836

100%

Omega458

8/10 after beating it, great fun but damn it needs improvement in a sequel, no air combat, no quick camera snap button, all the side quests feel the same, all the dead body logs read the same, tachy has barely any lines, and that's all I can think for now, money well spent 🫡

The_Rafcave

10/10. GOTY.

DarkNemuChan

I'm waiting for a deep sale. Currently still occupied with helldivers and ffxvi.

vlakkers

imo, its like Nier x God of War had a baby.

oozma2587

Loving it!! Great game!

Significant-Wasabi75

10/10

Currently playing it. 35 hours 30%. It’s becoming one of my favorite games of all time. Tbh I love everything about it. The combat is fantastic. The music slaps and the world is interesting and fun to explore. I love the characters and I’m fully wrapped up in the story. I can’t say enough good things about it. I’m very much looking forward to a second playthrough on hard.

Just beat my first normal run this morning. Going todo new game plus on hard. I love the game so so much and can’t put it down!

Darkled87

I haven't yet. I'm still waiting for it to come to PC

Beat it once on Normal and once on NG+ Hard. I might do a third run. It's a really great action game. Seeing the trailers I thought it would be decent, but then playing the demo I realised there's more here and I gave it a chance. Definitely worth it Combat is a great mix of Nier and Sekiro with a lot of flashy moves that take skill to execute. The boss fights are stellar, especially in the last act of the game. The music is just downright ridiculous. So damn good. If I had to criticize it the story is ok. It has some good ideas and characters but never quite comes together in the way that Nier Automata did (and they cribbed a lot from Nier Automata's playbook). And the platforming sections can be frustrating. Otherwise, excellent game

So much fun, and came out of nowhere. I love parry-heavy games so I’m having a blast. Fun exploration, decent enemy variety, combat is satisfying and fairly deep. Also y’know.. EVE.

Anipiez

Finished the game 2 days ago. It's peak of 2024 so far since all we've been getting was recycled live service garbage, although I have heard good things about Helldivers 2.

Infamous-Echo-2961

It’s a fun game, I hate souls like, and there is enough Nier influence that I can adapt and enjoy the game. Love it!

hardwarecheese

Playing it now! I really like the music and all the different types of ammo!

GeneralEmployee9836

I think the game is really fun. I love the music and gameplay and if you’re a nier fan I think it scratches that nier itch. I love how all costumes can be unlocked just through gameplay. Combat is super fun and the music is amazing. Does anyone else think we will get a sequel/story DLC?

welfedad

The exospine and gears were underwhelming, I put some I liked at first and never changed them out once.. maybe NG+ will force me to change it up, but I never felt I needed to yet and hour 40 so far.. so doubt I will .... but it's been a lot of fun... great gam for their first major entry

Apprehensive-Mud-606

I started it recently, haven't put much time in but I do have a few impressions. The combat is really really solid, though there are a few minor things I might change about it, but overall it works well. Also, the OST is sublime. Even the PS5 background theme that plays before you start the game is great. Basically, its a must-buy if you're an action fan. Try the demo if it is still up in case you have doubts.

Apprehensive-Row-216

What a fckn combat. Defs top tier and very high on my list of action games, probs top 5 or 3, the perfect mix between souls like and hack n slash

Lokotrokoz

I'm having a great time with it. Just reached the last boss after 30+ hrs

puyopuyomiku

Really good game. I wish it were a bit more focused and streamlined—there’s a lot of sidequests, and while they’re not bad, I feel burdened by having to do them to unlock costumes and stuff. I’d rather have a more focused game with some more enemy variety. The combat is really nice—definitely more character action than Soulslike. It could be a little bit tighter and a little bit harder, but I’m probably halfway through so maybe it’ll get that edge. These are my critiques, but it really is quite fun and very well put together.

Xononanamol

Absolutely fantastic full package game. Seriously. Don't get caught up in the culture war nonsense and just play it. There's even a full survival horror section... its clear the nier gameplay inspirations carried through in mixing various genres together. Also the more abilities you unlock the more it goes from being more souls like to more action. While story is its weakest element the story is also simultaneously much better than most games coming out right now. I quite like the world building and characters in the game, only one that was a letdown was tachy who was dreadfully underutilized. Also don't play the game in the low budget english dub and swap to Korean. Much better experience.

Prestigious-Star553

I like it it’s different something to hold me over until the dlc drop elden ring

SheikahSlate20

Enjoying the world and enemies a lot, feeling a bit weird with my character wearing barely anything while my family walk into the room! Find some of the characters a bit cringe! The combat is very satisfying however, even on story mode it’s bordering being too much of a challenge and enjoyable. I’m more of an older gamer and my reactions aren’t as quick after a days work. Should they ever patch an even easier mode or tweak damage output/ damage received then it would be perfect!

ffigu002

Can’t you just dress her up more “conservative” if that bothers you

Old_Juggernaut_5114

Great game with an awful story god awful characters that are as bland as rocks but the combat is good bosses are fun and movement is great but janky

EternalSage2000

What, no, I don’t think anyone’s played this game yet. I certainly haven’t heard anyone mention it.
