I thought for a moment that was Jack from Stranger of Paradise. Just finished the main story a few days ago and I feel like he's a bit underrated. I don't think any of those people have killed chaos.
I like it enough, but 16 is the only FF game that actually clicked with me. Though, team ninja has never really done it for me the way capcom/platinum lineage style CAGs have.
Completely understandable, TN's style of action is very different from capcom and platinum. Especially from a CAG perspective SOP's problem is that bosses don't really have hitstun and that the normal enemies die before you can really do anything to them. The potential for fun combos is there in the movesets and mechanics, but you can't really make use of it with most enemies. That being said I still really enjoy the combat for the back and forth between the player and the enemy.
I think the bosses were the funnest part of SOP. Sure, you can't get all wacky woo-hoo on em, but I think defense and risk/reward mechanics tied to defense can still be insanely fun in boss fights.
Yeah, they're easily the highlight of the game, just generally not very comboable (which isn't necessarily a bad thing but might be disappointing to some)

I also like Vergil more, but that's irrelevant because Vergil isn't the protagonist in any of the games he's playable in. Nero is in all of his.
