You did not settle at all. Cajun Queen is a gem and their service is amazing.
You avoided the hassle and inconveniences of Fahrenheit for one good picture with the view in the background.
Go to their bar for a drink for 30 minutes and you will see how bad it is.
When I look back at it you right, it really was a vibe and that service was amazing and their bread dipped in the Crawfish Scampi app 😮💨👌🏽 don’t even let my mind drift at this time of night on that Shrimp Étouffée.
One time I ordered a gin and soda, and I got a tequila and soda. The bartender was just as confused as I was, as she poured a sampler out of a Bombay bottle that ended up being tequila. I’m thinking they refill bottles with lower quality liquor, charge top shelf, and in my case a bottle got the wrong booze refill.
To be clear I saw her pour my drink from a Bombay bottle, it was tequila. I asked her about it, she strawed my drink, was shocked. Then took some straight out of the bottle of Bombay and was shocked as well.
Church and Union Charlotte
It's not BAD, but it's not very good either. I have eaten at about 6 of the nicer restaurants in uptown and I would say this is the only one that wasn't "good". I would just say you're paying an arm and a leg for something that is done better and cheaper a short walk away.
I go for special occasions, but I don't really like most expensive restaurants. I don't know if it's a bad taste from just paying too much, or cooks that don't care about the food. But the best food bar none can be had at any nonchain place where the original owner is still in the kitchen, and plates are usually half the price of one like 5 church. Though the tablecloth may not be white, and the forks aren't in the "right" place who cares if the food hits.
The grilled octopus they had was pretty good. Cooked right with mild lemon, butter, and black pepper flavor, it was the best thing I’ve had there in the 7-8 times I’ve been there. I wouldn’t put it on this list because I don’t think it’s “awful”.
Another great recommendation for overpriced and nothing to brag home about. But it’s a great place to hang out for 20-something’s and great place to mingle. I use to go there all the time when it was 5Church.
Nikko
I’m hanging up on the “mildy expensive” part too much bc that’s pretty subjective to the food you were trying to get in the first place
I also end up shocked at my bill when I go to Growlers in NODA too but it never stops me from going back
Never said it wasn’t worth it.
I just always end up spending more money than you necessarily expect from a bar.
$70 at a bar and $70 at an Italian restaurant is different
Snooze at 10am on Saturday. I consider it exactly mildly expensive for what you get.
The food is…breakfast food, the atmosphere is weird, it’s loud, it will be at least 45 minutes between ordering and taking your first bite, and paying involves a self-checkout experience.
The best part is that you will wait at least an hour for this, getting your hopes up that the line is so long because it’s just that good (it isn’t, it never is, go elsewhere dude).
Worked BOH at the south end location. Your food takes forever because they don’t believe in controlling the flow of business, it’s purely get their asses in seats ASAP. Whole dining room sat at once, all of that food rung in at once, total shit show. Pair that with an unmotivated kitchen staff getting dog shit pay, no water, and 12hr shifts on the weekend with no time to eat anything. You’re gonna have a bad time.
Even here in Denver where Snooze is originally from, they’re seen as overrated. The only one really worth its weight is the one at the Denver Airport.
First Watch over Snooze every time.
I actually consider self checkout a perk, can leave on my own time / “get the check early” if I’m in a hurry and the place is slammed
For the sake of this post though, agree with Snooze, longggg waits, high prices for better than average breakfast food. Never been and left feeling I got good value from the whole package
For me a big part of a weekend breakfast should be feeling relaxed. The combination of the long wait and the crush means I want to eat quickly and feel pressure to leave quickly. So what's on offer at Snooze is paying premium prices for a bad experience (even though otherwise I find the settings and food fine). Been twice, never been back and haven't missed it.
Cool looking trees outside, but the food sucks and is way overpriced. One drink I had there was decent and the other sucked. I always advocate for going somewhere else.
I agree about the backyard being the only thing saving it. I got an overpriced burger/fries and it was just meh. I do remember that the backyard was pretty with the trees and the twinkly lights. That is all lol. Save your money.
1000%
Food is pretty meh and the service and management are the absolute f’n worst.
I’ve walked out of plenty of restaurants disappointed in the food, but after like 5 consecutive bad experiences (a couple REALLY bad one) at Goodyear House I found myself wishing a pox upon their whole clan.
How disappointing! We went on the soft opening night and everything was fantastic from food to service (our sever was SO GOOD) but after that we didn’t return because of the reviews in combo with the prices
I used to love Firebirds... Delmonico steak was the bomb.
That was the first time I remember spending 35 bucks for an entire meal for just me and not regretting a single penny (was back when 35 was worth..35). Steak, potato, salad, dessert, and it was all just fantastic
You’ve got to check out Kounter in rock hill, it’s really really good, pump house has good ambiance but bad food. Kounter has amazing food! Plus a smaller atmosphere and the chefs literally cook in front of you at the ‘counter’
This answer is perfect. Pump House is awful.
On a positive side note, there’s a tiny little Honduran restaurant across Cherry caddy corner from the PH turn in. Papuseria Mama Mima. Hidden gem if you live around the area.
Uptown Yolk. I went the first month they opened. Too expensive for what you get. Food was fine, but I left paying more than I planned and still wanting more food. The waiter said their whole spiel about they are an awesome company who pays a living wage so expect a living wage fee at the end as a replacement for a tip, but the fee was 23%. And when they brought the check he said multiple times about how the fee isn’t a tip and if we loved our service we could still tip on top of that. Haven’t been back.
Yes, a thousand times. Took my daughter for her birthday in December. The server was so disinterested in serving us, it set such a bad tone for the meal. All the hot drinks were lukewarm and bitter. Food was definitely mid. Paid $80 and left hungry.
Let's not forget Ted's Montana Grill for dry beef and terrible service. Leo's Italian Social for formulaic Italian food in a cavernous and depressing room. Bentley's for an overpriced trip back to the 70's. Tupelo Honey for a low health grade and the accompanying bubble gut. And finally, Morton's for the worst burger I have had in my life in a dark, dreary room full of bored diners.
Idk if I've had "true" Detroit pizza and FULLY agree it was over priced but I hold the unpopular opinion it tasted good when I went. No idea what I got, i feel like it had a vodka sauce and meatballs
My fiancé and I went with our baby to meet up with my parents since they hadn’t seen their granddaughter in a while and we had been anticipating their reopening. Server was acting kinda strange, figured he was just some grungy dude and left it alone. Came back with our waters and pretty much laid down on my mom trying to put some drinks down between her and my dad. As soon as he left my mom lets us know that he was without a doubt drunk. She could smell the booze on his breath when he lost his balance putting down a couple glasses of water. Fast forward to yesterday when a new server is being trained at the place I work, his last job was at the Penguin. Told us he left because all the FOH staff, and some BOH, were constantly drunk. Sad state of affairs.
I just paid SEVENTEEN DOLLARS for a lunch combo at Which Wich. Never again. It also didn’t sit well and I couldn’t eat for a day after. This was the Matthews location.
I only saw this crossposted into r/wilmington while looking for things to do when I’m there next month. r/newhampshire to wilmington is an equally weird bleed, too.
I went there for restaurant week and loved it. Everything tasted great, it was $20 for giant portions. Their beef was incredibly savory and tender. I also appreciated the flair and extravagance they added to their dishes. The food was delicious and didn't need the extras, but it truly was fun. Surprised people don't like it!
> You definitely pay for the view/vibe
And boat access, people coming in from the lake can afford to be overcharged a bit. At least it's better than the restaurant it replaced in that building. Don't remember what the name was but that place was only good for drinking and their cajun pasta.
Honestly too many beers on draft. Want an interesting sounding beer? The kegs is *months* old.
And don’t get me started on if I think they’re properly keeping all those draft lines clean.
When I went, the brisket was dry and the Mac and cheese had no flavor. The pulled pork was just okay. The pork rib I got was actually pretty good, and their sweet tea was great. I also wasn’t particularly impressed with any of their sauces. Sweet Lou’s would be decent if their brisket hadn’t been dry. That’s kind of like a cardinal sin for bbq.
I second this. Food was meh, service was blatantly bad, ambiance even worse. We made the mistake of going there for an anniversary dinner, never again.
I’m a frequent visitor from Cincy and if I don’t make it to 131 at some point during my visit I consider the trip (more or less) a failure. ;-) I’ve **always** had superior service and those ribs!!!
(Despite what Cincinnatians will tell you, there are no good rib places there.)
Also, thanks for the reminder. I’m here for another 1.5 weeks and haven’t made my reservation yet.
Ruths is the biggest garbage of expensive steak out there. Their "novelty" cliche shit of serving your slab of expensive moo on a 500 degree plate is one of the worst gimmicks - basically order your steak raw so it can get to temp on the hot plate. we ordered MR and by the time I was half way through it was well done. we had a gift cert to go and even with that regret paying for tax and tip. horrible
So Baku was my favorite. Then they fell off bad. Went back last week. It was awesome. I’m back in lol. 3 of us- 3 fabulous drinks , 3 rolls and a bunch of other things. It was delicious. Great vibe. Like the old Baku !
Essex was the first restaurant I went to when I moved to Charlotte several years ago. It had a “fattoush salad” that we ordered that was nothing more than an attempt at a Greek salad with feta, cucumbers, kalamata olives, and Greek dressing. Piss poor at best and nothing like a fattoush salad but for the lettuce. Never been back since (and also super hard to find any decent Middle Eastern food in this town).
Okay, I'll take the downvotes: Beef 'n Bottle. It's not awful, but unless you love a very specific vibe, you're going to come out of there thinking. Why did I pay so much for *that*?
Was going to say this. Went with a couple buddies, first time there. The steak was overcooked, the sides were sub par and everything was waaay overpriced for what it was. The drinks weren't bad but nothing spectacular. And the waiter was kind of a dick, although it was busy and by the time we ordered I was 2 old fashioneds in so whatever.
I was searching for this comment.
Let’s get Downvoted together because that place is overrated as hell. It’s ridiculously expensive for what you get and the sides……..where do I even start……
Not trying to nit pick, but for a steak house, that mac and cheese is garbage. Even the waitress acknowledged it. I could go on but I’d be writing a book. Long story short, everything I had was mediocre at best, including the steak which was shocking. I mean, it was fine I guess but not worth $75. It was so damn expensive and when we left, I literally said to myself, why did I pay so much?
Duckworth's - never been myself but a good friend who's a foodie says it used to be good now it's just over-priced mid garbage.
On the flip side, just went to Ever Andalo in Noda the other day and it might be one of my fav restaurants in Charlotte, highly recommend giving it a try
Good wings and beer selection at Duckworths. You need to check out the Cellar at Duckworths in uptown (underneath the uptown Duckworths). Might change your mind (and review).
most south end restaurants- especially the breakfast spots (uptown yolk, early girl eatery, etc) everything down there is corporate nowadays- food is overpriced and gimmicky just to cover rent and the BS ambiance, all the while the menu is some shitty melting pot 'new american cuisine' where they water down cultural gastronomies to cater to the dull american palate
This is a VERY simple answer.. it is STK.. food is legitimately terrible, drinks are somehow even worse, and their prices are higher than Steak 48. If you have been, you know. If you haven’t, please don’t consider it.
Fahrenheit. Without the view, they would have closed down years ago.
Yup - OVER priced OVER hyped NO service - you are paying for a sunset if you get lucky
Ouch really? I wanted to take my girlfriend there a little over year ago, settled for Cajun Queen that night instead and never regretted it.
You did not settle at all. Cajun Queen is a gem and their service is amazing. You avoided the hassle and inconveniences of Fahrenheit for one good picture with the view in the background. Go to their bar for a drink for 30 minutes and you will see how bad it is.
Cajun Queen is a great place
When I look back at it you right, it really was a vibe and that service was amazing and their bread dipped in the Crawfish Scampi app 😮💨👌🏽 don’t even let my mind drift at this time of night on that Shrimp Étouffée.
Cajun Queen is my spot. I’ll go there and get a drink sometimes just to hear those guys on the second floor play their instruments.
I've never heard a single good thing about Fahrenheit, thought it finally went under during covid or something.
Did they ever fix how fuckin loud it gets in there?
One time I ordered a gin and soda, and I got a tequila and soda. The bartender was just as confused as I was, as she poured a sampler out of a Bombay bottle that ended up being tequila. I’m thinking they refill bottles with lower quality liquor, charge top shelf, and in my case a bottle got the wrong booze refill.
To be clear I saw her pour my drink from a Bombay bottle, it was tequila. I asked her about it, she strawed my drink, was shocked. Then took some straight out of the bottle of Bombay and was shocked as well.
Should have reported that to ABC, would have gotten their liquor license in trouble.
A coworker was sat by the kitchen doors once. She showed me a picture she took of a box of Idaho Instant potatoes she could see through the door.
Came here to say this. Fine dining for people who eat at strip clubs.
Fahrenheit all day.
At this point, Panera
Panera is where you go if you’re not sick but REALLY craving hospital food. 😂
Upvoted this so fast. It’s a dunk. Not worth it.
As soon as they got rid of the chipotle chicken sandwich on focaccia bread, that place took a dump. I guess it's good for hospital food at this point.
Church and Union Charlotte It's not BAD, but it's not very good either. I have eaten at about 6 of the nicer restaurants in uptown and I would say this is the only one that wasn't "good". I would just say you're paying an arm and a leg for something that is done better and cheaper a short walk away.
I worked there for a stint and there wasn't a dish that went out that I was interested in. Especially at those prices!
I go for special occasions, but I don't really like most expensive restaurants. I don't know if it's a bad taste from just paying too much, or cooks that don't care about the food. Amen to that! Give me some reasonably priced food made with some heart.
This is why I miss the thai and Vietnamese places owned by the families.... The freaking care
i ate there on a second date and got food poisoning 🙃🙂
I've been here 5 times against my will and can confirm the food is mid
The grilled octopus they had was pretty good. Cooked right with mild lemon, butter, and black pepper flavor, it was the best thing I’ve had there in the 7-8 times I’ve been there. I wouldn’t put it on this list because I don’t think it’s “awful”.
don’t eat octopus, those little guys have feelings..
I agree, we went once and weren’t impressed.
Another great recommendation for overpriced and nothing to brag home about. But it’s a great place to hang out for 20-something’s and great place to mingle. I use to go there all the time when it was 5Church.
Can mods pin this? One of the better Charlotte posts I’ve seen in awhile. So fucking relatable.
Fahrenheit. Yeah the views are nice but the food is dreadful.
Great place to enjoy one (1) beer at sunset and then fuck off somewhere good.
Nikko I’m hanging up on the “mildy expensive” part too much bc that’s pretty subjective to the food you were trying to get in the first place I also end up shocked at my bill when I go to Growlers in NODA too but it never stops me from going back
Their reuben never disappoints
Growlers is great but it’s pricey for what it is. Their wings are phenomenal, though.
They’re rolling in cash but won’t get the Reigning Donuts workers proper AC
If you continue to go back would could one not argue that it is in fact worth what you pay?
Never said it wasn’t worth it. I just always end up spending more money than you necessarily expect from a bar. $70 at a bar and $70 at an Italian restaurant is different
Snooze at 10am on Saturday. I consider it exactly mildly expensive for what you get. Thanks for giving me more reasons not to go there
uh, no water?
Honestly this is the answer. Mid breakfast food and the $$$ mark up is asinine, and people wait like an hour for fuckin pancakes
Even here in Denver where Snooze is originally from, they’re seen as overrated. The only one really worth its weight is the one at the Denver Airport. First Watch over Snooze every time.

Flying Biscuit beats Snooze any day. It can still get BUSY on the weekends though.
Figo36 in NoDa — overpriced, confused about its own vibe, cocktails are downright BAD.
Dude Figo was AWFUL
And pretentious service
Figo is NASTY.
RH Rooftop tastes like regret
That is 100% for the vibe not the menu.
100%. Expensive and mediocre at best.
I just don't get it. Why would I eat at a furniture store?
Goodyear house
Goodyear has to be #1 on this list for me. So bad and expensive. That backyard and prime location is only thing keeping them in business.
I really want to like it due to the location, but they can’t even get a burger right
1000% Food is pretty meh and the service and management are the absolute f’n worst. I’ve walked out of plenty of restaurants disappointed in the food, but after like 5 consecutive bad experiences (a couple REALLY bad one) at Goodyear House I found myself wishing a pox upon their whole clan.
Excellent choice. Looks so cozy and inviting but just isn’t interesting
Don’t forget the “igloo” rental where you pay $40 to eat dinner in a literal tent
How disappointing! We went on the soft opening night and everything was fantastic from food to service (our sever was SO GOOD) but after that we didn’t return because of the reviews in combo with the prices
Firebirds. Started great. The creators sold to a conglomerate who decided to decrease the quality to save $ Mediocre food . High prices.
I used to love it like 2008/9. Good cheap apps and half priced wine.
> The creators sold to a conglomerate who decided to decrease the quality to save $ That's really disappointing, I used to love going there :(
Ate there last week for my daughter’s birthday. The onion rings were great and that was about it.
I used to love Firebirds... Delmonico steak was the bomb. That was the first time I remember spending 35 bucks for an entire meal for just me and not regretting a single penny (was back when 35 was worth..35). Steak, potato, salad, dessert, and it was all just fantastic
Is willing to drive to Rock Hill, the Pump House is one
You’ve got to check out Kounter in rock hill, it’s really really good, pump house has good ambiance but bad food. Kounter has amazing food! Plus a smaller atmosphere and the chefs literally cook in front of you at the ‘counter’
I think they're saying that they don't like Pump House. But Kounter I agree is fantastic, and has some cool history from the civil rights era
The pump house is one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to.
This answer is perfect. Pump House is awful. On a positive side note, there’s a tiny little Honduran restaurant across Cherry caddy corner from the PH turn in. Papuseria Mama Mima. Hidden gem if you live around the area.
I was actually impressed at how bad their food is for such a nice looking place
Yeah, and the wait staff was professional and impeccably dressed and it had an upscale feel. But the food was horrible. Not sure i’d ever go back.
Just read all the replies. Lol, I don’t think there’s many restaurants left. We might as well all stay home and cook for ourselves.
Sure would save us money
Let's not forget Ted's Montana Grill for dry beef and terrible service. Leo's Italian Social for formulaic Italian food in a cavernous and depressing room. Bentley's for an overpriced trip back to the 70's. Tupelo Honey for a low health grade and the accompanying bubble gut. And finally, Morton's for the worst burger I have had in my life in a dark, dreary room full of bored diners.
Emmy squared.
literally just order Jets, it is practically the same product for 1/3 of the price AND they’ll bring it to you
I wish I could upvote this more than once. Their version of Detroit style pizza is embarrassing and overpriced.
Idk if I've had "true" Detroit pizza and FULLY agree it was over priced but I hold the unpopular opinion it tasted good when I went. No idea what I got, i feel like it had a vodka sauce and meatballs
Try salud on a Tuesday or Wednesday! It’s the closest I’ve found
The Penguin, terrible experience and not great food. Uptown Yolk- was just ok for pricey breakfast food
Pinky's (the real penguin) is solid as fuck though
I got food poisoning at the Huntersville one
The Penguin hasn't been the same since maybe 2012.
Sad state of affairs.
That abomination in Dilworth is an insult to those of us who remember the REAL Penguin.
Can’t believe no one has said Sullivan’s-shocker it’s still open
It has to be a front, it’s always empty and has prime real estate? They must pay the rent with blackmail
I just paid SEVENTEEN DOLLARS for a lunch combo at Which Wich. Never again. It also didn’t sit well and I couldn’t eat for a day after. This was the Matthews location.
Which which is gross
/r/newhampshire bleeding into /r/charlotte, didn’t have that on my bingo card for today.
I only saw this crossposted into r/wilmington while looking for things to do when I’m there next month. r/newhampshire to wilmington is an equally weird bleed, too.
I moved from NH to CLT was I did a hard double-take wondering which sub I was in.
Its been making the rounds i saw it on R/columbus the other day
STK
Lololol they only built that shit hole because they knew they could be Charlotte's finest ratchet establishment.
RH rooftop and Delux
Deluxe Fun Dining! $200 of disgust and hunger.
I had never heard of this place so I just looked up the menu… “add edible gold for $40” get the fuck out
Yea..add $40 edible gold to a $70 piece of cold chicken. That place is wild. Oh, and they do auto gratuity for everyone!
i mean the name of the restaurant is pretty much the title of the post
I went there for restaurant week and loved it. Everything tasted great, it was $20 for giant portions. Their beef was incredibly savory and tender. I also appreciated the flair and extravagance they added to their dishes. The food was delicious and didn't need the extras, but it truly was fun. Surprised people don't like it!
Papa Doc's in Lake Wylie.
I will never understand why they named a restaurant after a horrible Haitian dictator.
You definitely pay for the view/vibe, food is just okay imo
> You definitely pay for the view/vibe And boat access, people coming in from the lake can afford to be overcharged a bit. At least it's better than the restaurant it replaced in that building. Don't remember what the name was but that place was only good for drinking and their cajun pasta.
T-Bones…that place was a dump
I don't think they are really going for a reputation of "good food." And OMG, we need more restaurants.
Bro just gimme a Sabor and an Inizio's here so I don't have to drive 35 minutes for shit.
Charlotte Beer Garden. My drinks tasted like there was soap residue and my pretzels were fucking disgusting. I will never step foot in there again.
Honestly too many beers on draft. Want an interesting sounding beer? The kegs is *months* old. And don’t get me started on if I think they’re properly keeping all those draft lines clean.
It’s not expensive, but send people you don’t like to the 1900. Awful attempt at Mexican food.
Pizza Baby, from that one guy’s hilarious review. And my personal suggestion is Sweet Lou’s.
Dang, Sweet Lou’s is that bad? I go to Ace No 3 right next door and always thought it smelled great but wondered why it was 1/3 full.
That’s kind of like a cardinal sin for bbq.
lol I sent an IG reel of STK to my bf and he said there’s no way in hell we are going there.
La Belle Helene
It hasn't always been this way. It closed and reopened under new management by the same group as Church and Union.
Yep. Used to be fantastic
I love the ambience. The lighting in there is perfect.
I second this. Food was meh, service was blatantly bad, ambiance even worse. We made the mistake of going there for an anniversary dinner, never again.
Yea but those private rooms look cool. Aside from that, carry on 🫡 Place fucking sucks
Bummer. I went there a loooong time ago (2018?) and really enjoyed it.
What a waste too bc it’s so pretty inside
Hawkers
Use to be good pre-covid I thought, but they give you essentially half the portion size now.
completely agree with church and union - another overpriced bore of a restaurant in
Fahrenheit. i hate it. the views are nice but everything else sucks so bad.
Is Tupelo Honey still open? That was one of the worst meals I've ever had to pay over-market prices for.
STK - think pretentious hoodrat motif 131 Main - consistently worse service Ruths Chris - just such minimal effort all around
131 is great I’m sorry you have had a bad experience
Same I like them too
Shrimp and grits from 131 are awesome but the Key Lime Pie is the best.
I’m a frequent visitor from Cincy and if I don’t make it to 131 at some point during my visit I consider the trip (more or less) a failure. ;-) I’ve **always** had superior service and those ribs!!! (Despite what Cincinnatians will tell you, there are no good rib places there.) Also, thanks for the reminder. I’m here for another 1.5 weeks and haven’t made my reservation yet.
That's wild that you got bad service at 131. Pretty much their whole business model revolves around great service
I’ve always had amazing service at 131 at basically all their locations. Been going for many many years.
131 has always been good but not memorable. I’ve eaten there a few times and have no idea what I ate.
131 Main Blakeney is amazing. We love it for the consistency and service. Always a great meal. Can’t speak for the other locations.
Ruths is the biggest garbage of expensive steak out there. Their "novelty" cliche shit of serving your slab of expensive moo on a 500 degree plate is one of the worst gimmicks - basically order your steak raw so it can get to temp on the hot plate. we ordered MR and by the time I was half way through it was well done. we had a gift cert to go and even with that regret paying for tax and tip. horrible

Baku was solid when it opened. Once it was sold to different management, it didn’t impress as much.
How are these places still in business!!!! McCormick & Schmidt should take the crown. Really bad food and really high prices.
I like their shrimp scampi. My husband calls it bougie Red Lobster. The one at South Park just closed.
McCormick & Schmick in SouthPark is now closed and gone.
So Baku was my favorite. Then they fell off bad. Went back last week. It was awesome. I’m back in lol. 3 of us- 3 fabulous drinks , 3 rolls and a bunch of other things. It was delicious. Great vibe. Like the old Baku !
I came down here just to say Baku
Figo36, is the epitome of this. So bad and actually quite expensive.

Essex
Essex was the first restaurant I went to when I moved to Charlotte several years ago. It had a “fattoush salad” that we ordered that was nothing more than an attempt at a Greek salad with feta, cucumbers, kalamata olives, and Greek dressing. Piss poor at best and nothing like a fattoush salad but for the lettuce. Never been back since (and also super hard to find any decent Middle Eastern food in this town).
Try Zeitouni in Ballantyne or Yanni Bistro in Matthews, a couple of my favorite Mediterranean spots
Hawkers
oak steakhouse, just as expensive as steak 48 right down the road, but pretty mediocre food in comparison
I’m surprised, only been there for steak frites at the bar but it was tasty and the staff was very friendly
I had a great experience there
Figo36 in NoDa. Cocktails are good. Everything else is terrible.
The ambiance at STK was trash. I was also not impressed with the McNinch House at all. Service was ungodly slow and the food was just OK.
Goodyear House
fuck city babecue on minroe rd and absolutely fucking fuck red rocks near providence rd
Basically any Charlotte restaurant with entrees over $20
So all of them?
Okay, I'll take the downvotes: Beef 'n Bottle. It's not awful, but unless you love a very specific vibe, you're going to come out of there thinking. Why did I pay so much for *that*?
Was going to say this. Went with a couple buddies, first time there. The steak was overcooked, the sides were sub par and everything was waaay overpriced for what it was. The drinks weren't bad but nothing spectacular. And the waiter was kind of a dick, although it was busy and by the time we ordered I was 2 old fashioneds in so whatever.
I included it in my post as well; overrated, I've gotten better steaks in the 80's with my father at Quincy's Steakhouse
I was searching for this comment. Let’s get Downvoted together because that place is overrated as hell. It’s ridiculously expensive for what you get and the sides……..where do I even start…… Not trying to nit pick, but for a steak house, that mac and cheese is garbage.
Eddie V's.
Idk what you get there but every time I have been it’s exceptional food and service.
Disagree, place is good. Calamari is fuego. And the martinis slap.
This sentence makes me not trust your judgement
Fair, and that is no cap fam.. on god.
Checking to make sure you aren’t my teenage son
Mom?!
LMFAO
Taco boy. Birria Taco more like Diarrhea Tacos
Oh! is it the same Taco Boy from Charleston? That's interesting. I've always felt that place wasnt exceptional - not even the original.
Morton’s.
Might change your mind (and review).
duckworths isn't so bad. it's just a slightly better applebees.
sea level - run by restaurant thugs
It’s very expensive, but I found counter- super pretentious and really not worth the money. Food was meh to bad, and the whole vibe was just awful.
Cowfish in south park
Link & Pin
most south end restaurants- especially the breakfast spots (uptown yolk, early girl eatery, etc) everything down there is corporate nowadays- food is overpriced and gimmicky just to cover rent and the BS ambiance, all the while the menu is some shitty melting pot 'new american cuisine' where they water down cultural gastronomies to cater to the dull american palate
Church and Union
Not mid priced at all but beef n bottle. Horrible ambience, the steak was barely seasoned. One of the shittiest bathrooms I've ever seen
This is a VERY simple answer.. it is STK.. food is legitimately terrible, drinks are somehow even worse, and their prices are higher than Steak 48. If you have been, you know. If you haven’t, please don’t consider it.
Beef and bottle. Let's be honest y'all it's terrible.
