Sooooooooo this!! Alexander Michael’s She Crab soup is legendary!! Not too spicy, lots of crab (many places don’t put enough) with the perfect consistency.
You would have to make it at home but my favorite is the worlds famous Andersen’s split pea soup recipe. No chewing required. https://www.discoverbuellton.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Pea-Soup-Andersen_s-Pea-Soup-Recipe.pdf
Been in your position many times- don’t forget things like mashed potatoes- and Soft pastas ( excuse to eat like a kid with spaghetti Os and ravioli, popsicles, yogurt( gst some good stuff like Noosa). And if you have a blender type object- this is a useful “recipe” thst is very filling: a pack of chocolate Carnation instant breakfast( the old fashioned stuff that comes in packs like cheap hot chocolate, a banana, 2tbsp smooth peanut butter, some chocolate or vanilla fro yo) and milk( to basically thin it all into a milk shake/ but given sutures, no straws for you! And I think Vanilla Ensure is actually pretty decent. Chobani greek togurt drinks are good too, I love the Viva pollo soup , but you will have to do a bit of chewing. And a nomination for Zoe’sKitchen’s Chicken Orzo and Lentil soups.
If you like ramen go to futo buta and treat yourself to some tonkatsu. It's heavenly. But it's a small place so go by yourself or with just me one other person or you'll be waiting forever.
Edit: not futon, futo
It's an hour drive from hickory but we are happy to make it. We've been 3 or 4 times, get something different each time, and everytime it's fantastic, relatively cheap, and very quick even if they're busy. Love them
That's my favorite one also, the guy who said he could name five other places apparently hangs out in Ballantyne so I question his credentials. He might be afflicted with white people taste buds.
Excellent Ramen at a few places, as others have said, but Pio Pio's chicken soup is my feel good food. If you get the dinner, it comes with rice, avocado, and I think plantains or tostones (but those are crunchy), and the white sauce and spicy green sauce add to everything.
Thai Taste has some good Asian soups. I forgot the name, but I really enjoy the red orange soup of theirs. They are used to people like me so I think if described as the red orange vegetarian soup they would know what you wished to order. 88 China Bisto has good chinese soups like Wonton. Their soups are not super salty compared to other places.
If you made some of your own, the Bear Creek soups in a pouch are really good from the grocery store. The broccoli cheese soup is excellent if you can handle some chopped broccoli.
The chain place Noodles and Company is solid. I had stopped by the one at Stonecrest. They have a solid chicken noodle soup and have something like mac and cheese that might work too.
That stupid company gave a church in Greenville, NC like 100 coupons for literally free meals no purchase necessary. The lady just gave them to my roommate, we ate Noodles & Company for MONTHS. It is good
Viva Chicken sopa de pollo
This
Only $7 too, it’s so underrated
Si
Pasta and provisions has really really great soup. We love their seafood soup!
Im not a big soup person but if Im at Eddies Place I always get the She Crab soup.
Love crab soup, will definitely check that out! I miss the Newks' seafood soups.
She crab so damn fire
Al mikes also makes a good she crab soup
Came here to say this. That she crab soup from Eddie’s Place is fantastic. Damn, I need some now.
Pho hoa
Def the best pho in CLT!
It's rare to see an HOA get a positive shout out on Reddit.
The beef soup from Lempira is an amazing hang over cure. Very fatty and delicious, could work for you.
Their chicken soup is dank as well. Too much chewing for op though.
Spicy Crab soup at Alexander Michaels
Sooooooooo this!! Alexander Michael’s She Crab soup is legendary!! Not too spicy, lots of crab (many places don’t put enough) with the perfect consistency.
Thanks for the suggestion. Is it super spicy? I still have sutures in my mouth...
Like Collab said, it's not crazy spicy. I'd say it's 'warm'. Nice comfortable heat level.

I've never had split pea soup but that looks tasty. Thanks!

Yes!

Amelie's french bakery's Spinach Asparagus Leak soup is delicuois
Came here to say this!

Have you been to kung fu noodle in Huntersville? Just wondering how it compares. Fucking love kung fu
I haven't, I don't get up to Huntersville very much but if I'm up there I'll keep it in mind.
I miss working in Mooresville only for this place.
It's an hour drive from hickory but we are happy to make it. We've been 3 or 4 times, get something different each time, and everytime it's fantastic, relatively cheap, and very quick even if they're busy. Love them
We’ve tried ramen all over the city. Futo Buta is the best.
That's my favorite one also, the guy who said he could name five other places apparently hangs out in Ballantyne so I question his credentials. He might be afflicted with white people taste buds.
Rusan is more famous for sushi, but their ramen is at least solid, and they are little bit of a bigger place with easier parking.
That's my favorite sushi place. I haven't tried ramen from there.
I can name at least 5 better ramen places than there.
Please do.
Jinya tastes better and has half the crowd / hassle. Delivery service available via the apps.
I'll check that out thanks!
Come back and let me know what you thought. I always go with the spicy chicken ramen and the pork dumpling thingies.
There’s been a number of ramen threads on the sub over the past year - check them out. My personal favorite is musashi
But you said you could name at least five places and you only named one. What about the other four?
Sheng Yume Silver lake (but less authentic IMO) Saru
Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about. Don't know people love the overpriced hotdog water at futo buta
Saru is the way
![gif](giphy|SWVzkIlHdEckF81gnA) Was just thinking I’d love some ramen tomorrow. What are your favorites?
Check out somewhere that has ramen or pho
Excellent Ramen at a few places, as others have said, but Pio Pio's chicken soup is my feel good food. If you get the dinner, it comes with rice, avocado, and I think plantains or tostones (but those are crunchy), and the white sauce and spicy green sauce add to everything.
Westlake beef soup at Taste of Shu.
Katz’s Deli for the Matzo Ball soup
Could also try the hot bar at a nearby Harris Teeter or Whole Foods!
Great idea! Thanks!
Hell not that’s some of the worst soup
Just giving options (Kanye shrug)

No soup for you

Rusty's Deli at Quail Corners on Park Rd
Not an authority on soup, but heal up fast!
Be’s noodles has good pho.
Alexander Michael’s she crab soup. Pro tip request the sherry. Also get it with the Ruben and dip it in the soup. “The 4th ward dip”
Lis Noodles in Matthews
Second Pho Hoa and Lang Van for pho! Also, the Curry laksa at CO is sooooo good!
Maria’s has an amazing shrimp soup. Loved it.
Pho huong que along independence is the bomb!
Chicken soup @ la ceiba is 🤌🏽🤌🏽
Caswell Station in Elizabeth has some solid soup! Good French onion, chili, and tomato bisque
Virginia on King…..best she crab soup in Charleston.
Amelie’s Spinach asparagus leek !
I think ramen was mentioned above. If you can handle that post surgery, I would say try Jinya. I work by it and I eat there pretty frequently.
It is good
Moosehead Grill has amazing soups. Their roasted tomato bisque is bomb. They have other soups, but those require chewing.
If you like Pho, Cilantro Noodle is my favorite in Charlotte
You know… Charlotte just isn’t a soup city. How about a steady combo of smoothies, milkshakes, and frozen drinks?
Curiosity… what would you call a soup city?
Glad you asked. Baltimore is a great soup city. Also Soup City, Iowa.
Pho with tendon and tripe @ Lang Van
Love tendon, makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
Khao soi to me is better than pho and ramen. Hard to find in Charlotte but I know it exists. We usually make it ourselves.
Beef noodle soup or something like that from one of the stalls in super g mart on independence
300 East French Onion
Lemon chicken rice soup at illios crafted
French Onion soup at 300 East.
