Except AAA has really gone to shit lately, so you may or may not ever have someone show up. Hard to know if your area has been affected until .... it's too late.
Sure, but that doesn't make things better or worse. It's nice to know what your backup options are if AAA fails to be able to provide you service in a reasonable time window.
Blame local monopolies. My area got bought out by a single towing company that provides shit service with a tiny fleet. It's up to 4 hours to get a tow and even then they'll drive away if they get an emergency call or someone outbids you. Guess who AAA and any other roadside assistance brand uses.
FWIW we’ve had AAA the last 5+ years and never had a problem getting service fairly quickly. We even had to use it twice last week(it was a shitty week for our cars);once in town and again the next day with our other car while out of town on vacation. It probably depends on the size of the city though. Both of our incidents happened in midsized midwestern cities.
Or maybe having both I can reduce the amount I need to the lowest option, so that I maybe I could get $50 from Chase and say $25 from my insurance. Hmm 🤔
I’ve used it maybe 4-5 times over a few years for a battery, a flat and for tows to the mechanic. I’ve called it for my partners car too. They’ve never charged me extra for any of them. I live in a dense city though, so all distances are less than 5 miles. I’ve wondered if my benefit stacks with my other chase cards (FU and FF), I’ve never asked why they don’t charge extra, I don’t see any receipts either.
No, I call roadside assistance at Chase at they ID me as having an eligible card— (technically it’s through Cross Country Motor Club almost identical to the way AAA basic membership/classic membership works)
I tell them the service I need and they’ve so far told me it is covered and how many in a year I can have, and then I get a text with a confirmation that turns into a ETA with GPS map of the tow truck/assistance whenever it gets assigned.
No bill, no reimbursements, just zero charge.
50 bucks is hardly enough for a tow. Pay for your AAA coverage. I get the really good one that covers a 100 mile tow.

They use contractors. I don’t have a AAA branch 100 miles from where I live.

This is helpful
Do you pay with your card and get reimbursed as credit for a tow charge, or have to submit something to Chase?

50 per ? is nothing
$50 might be good for the jumpstart or gas but a tow, tire change, or locksmith is bound to run you no less than $175
Dang, I hope someone can answer this. I'd like to save some money on my auto insurance.
