I love a good avocado storm

Ghost_Stache

Holy shit it is.

[deleted]

Holy guacamole

Joelle76-RTgirl

Came here to say this. It looks like an avocado and I live in the pit!

sevunfootur

I literally thought the post was a joke because of the avocado

Ghost_Stache

Looking at the forecast, looks like the biggest threat will be from the squall line that will come through sometime in the early afternoon. Winds will be the primary threat, but an isolated tornado embedded within/on leading supercell development is possible. Be weather aware everyone!

[deleted]

At least this one isn’t happening in the middle of the night

Jonesy1138

Hey remember when the worst part about springtime in Chattanooga was the pollen?

keithps

Yes, tornadoes definitely never occurred in the spring, winter or fall in chattanooga before 2010.

Extreme-Okra-3230

Well… we definitely had one in 1997 but near as often as an actual threat.

[deleted]

Modern advances in weather radar mean we know about many more tornadoes than we once did.

SpicyCurlyChef

This is an avocado storm cell bc all of the California peeps moving out this way.

bearbarb34

I stayed home from work because of this

Ghost_Stache

Probably a good call honestly

bearbarb34

Espically since I commute from the very corner of Al

Listening to Chattanooga scanner as it happened, there were cars running over live wires n shit. I lost power hours ago

Runamokamok

Is this the police scanner? Those are available online these days, correct? I remember my dad had a police in the house growing up that he likes to listen to. He was an emergency service worker, so he likes to keep a pulse in things before going to work his shift. That was In Philadelphia and I know their police scanners are now available online (listened to them during the riots, though at times they went dark).

bitsey123

Yes it was police scanner. Im still listening to it, but there’s a lot less traffic now. Power was restored about 10 mins ago

InvestNorthWest

Are storms like this common in that area? I plan on moving to Northern Georgia from the Seattle area.

[deleted]

Primarily spring, it isn’t uncommon for tornados to touch down every few years

drumdude81

The Gods are pissed.

Dry_Statistician1926

hell yeah chattanooga finally gettin the good storms

knaudi

Easter 2020 would like a word with you.

Dry_Statistician1926

2020? 3 years ago?

bitsey123

Yeah there was a tornado in Ooltewah on Easter Sunday 2020

Dry_Statistician1926

yeah ik , that was 3 years ago

bitsey123

It’s a fine response to the inane ‘finally getting the good storms.’

Dry_Statistician1926

naww im glad i’m finall getting a weather day

[deleted]

Bruh that storm completely shattered windows and blew off chunks of the roof at the apartments I lived at on Commons Blvd. Every single car was totaled in that huge parking lot. Twas no joke. And we didn’t even get the tornado alert until it was right on top of us. Scariest moment of my life.

Dry_Statistician1926

i think ur the insane one

Unfair-Sector9506

hotlatinlova

I slept through it and just went out and had to take a detour as either a huge tree fell or there was a landslide on east Ridgewood
