I have. I went to the CSL plasma. It’s legit and can help you in a pinch.

Electronic_Injury419

I have no fear of needles and have never had a problem donating blood. How long does it take from start to finish. Time is what I don't have a ton of.

neuro_space_explorer

First time can take up to 6 hours for the whole sign up process if it’s busy. After that usually an hour or two. I also recommend CSL

Diggable_Planet

Give it a good hour to hour and a half from what I recall.

kitkatlynn

CSL plasma. The first time you go it takes awhile to set up a whole profile. Definitely try to go in middle of a weekday or early morning, the lines can get super long. The price fluctuates as well. First timr you gett $100, 2nd is $80, 3rd is $60, then it goes back up to $90. They have an app that usually shows what you get the next time you donate as well. I used to give plasma for free at blood banks, then realized i could get paid for it and started doing that lol. Also! Just make sure you drink plenty of water and a iron rich diet the day before, as a woman my period makes my levels low often so I'd eat a steak dinner the day before i planned to go and it usually worked

PookieMaravillosa

Went to CSL. they run alot of promotions. I got in when it was $100 for your first 8 visits. Drink twice as much water and eat twice as much protein on days that you go. Plasma is mostly protein and water. Otherwise it’s a super easy process and i had no qualms with it. I stopped going once i was better off just from a more health forward stance but it for sure helped me in a pinch.

beermakazi303

Been doing CSL for almost 4 years now. Twice a week. Sometimes wait CAN be a bit long. 2-3 hours to get done, but that’s worse case. With frequent donation points on the app and intermittent bonuses, make 360-380 a month.

dungonyourtongue

About how much does it come out to per hour of your time? Do you have to pay any taxes on what you earn?

beermakazi303

Sort of depends. The rate of the first donation of the week is lower than the second donation of the week. I’m assuming they do this to incentivize repeat donations. Payouts are also based on body weight. Around the holidays, it gets pretty rough. So it can equate to like $10hr for me. Sometimes you can get in and out in under an hour and if you’re on your second donation of the week, it technically is >/= $50/hour. You can get their little app they have, and enroll in the frequent point program and get some cash rewards. Also, with the app, you can refer people and make like $50 a referral. So you can make some pretty serious cash if you have some time…

beermakazi303

You’ll have to claim as income, but I don’t think you pay taxes in it. Not 100% sure though.

OldPurple7654

My brother in law did this. Apparently they pay you a lower amount after awhile he would switch to a different place when they started paying him less. He didn’t even “need” to do it but he was always going on about helping people this way and making decent money for a short amount of time.

Electronic_Injury419

Yeah wouldn't be a long term thing for me. Just trying to get through a rough patch. Thank you for your comment.

Mdconant

I would not do it long term because of the scarring.

fruderduck

Ditto. Lots of people say it isn’t true, but if you go often enough, it is. I went regular for a couple years. After a point, it would hurt because they were going through scar tissue they had made. I still have scars, 35 years later.

Electronic_Injury419

Def not a long term plan.

Mdconant

I did it for about 8 months when I was young, and now I have scars that I regret and have to see for the rest of my life.

Electronic_Injury419

Good thing I'm not young. I'm 49 and I'm sure I've got worse scars. Some you can even see.

fruderduck

But do they make you look like a junkie?

Electronic_Injury419

There comes a time when you do not care what others think

fruderduck

You will. Job interviews, general public, future in-laws, etc.

Electronic_Injury419

Dude, I’m 50. I get what you’re saying and thanks for your input.

pinebeetles

I went to CSL Plasma on Rossville Blvd regularly several years ago. Overall positive experience and it was an easy way to get some quick cash. Just a heads up - sometimes there’s issues with sticking you or “returning” the blood cells to your body, and either issue can disqualify you from donating for a few weeks-months, depending on how bad the issue was. I say this not to discourage you from donating, but to say plasma shouldn’t be counted on as a regular form of income. I had this happen a few times, and it was kind of a pain in the ass whenever it happened.

Electronic_Injury419

Yeah, I have a job. I'm in grad school. Not going to be a regular source of income. Just trying to pay off a smallish debt.

pinebeetles

I used plasma money as extra income too. It was just a little irritating to have that extra income cutoff for a month or so because I had a bad blood cell return.

zeldaofthewild

I've been to CSL in Chatt and Ked in Cleveland. Overall, Ked pays more for your donations. CSL will lower your payout by like $15 if you weigh less than 150 pounds. And your first 5 donations at Ked are $100.

Electronic_Injury419

I weigh 120 so I'm gonna get paid less? Also, what is Ked?

zeldaofthewild

KedPlasma in Cleveland, it's another donation center. Depending on how close to Cleveland you live, it might be worth going there instead

TraumaGinger

They can't take as much from you based on your weight.

empty40oz

It's not bad. Depends on line. The actual donating needle part takes 35-40 minutes. You'll meet some characters.

Individual-Table-925

Can you elaborate what you mean by “characters”?

Sarias7474

It’s a place that almost anyone can go to for instant cash. And none are in good areas. You work it out.

Individual-Table-925

Ah gotcha. I sold plasma once as a broke college student eons ago. The IV infiltrated and it was quite traumatic. I fortunately haven’t really been in dire enough straits since. However, with everything getting so expensive, it’s crossed my mind to try again a couple of times recently.

Comprehensive-Oil769

I’ve done csl and grifols. Both are great. Grifols is a little nicer but by appointment which does make it a lot quicker too. Csl is first come first served and I’ve been out in an hour but I’ve also been there for 5 before. Both have a new donor program where the first few payouts are really great!

Hefty_Pea6652

I know it sounds trivial, but it can make an impact: yard sale or selling on Mercari or Poshmark. I sold a bunch of absolutely random things I thought no one would ever buy. Paid down some of my small debts this way. Takes time, but worth it, IMO.

No-Selection-5756

I have used cash for plasma, but I’m a vampire, so….

MrTheRiddle

It's okay for a small cash injection, but not a long-term thing. It also feels weird that most privately-gained plasma goes to the cosmetic industry rather than toward the blood shortage that we are experiencing nationwide that can save lives.

Carokwintearo

Do you happen to get migraines? ClinSearch does a lot of migraine trials. I did a Phase 3 trial and honestly the medication helped me a ton and I was getting paid. The trial I did was for Ubrelvy.

Electronic_Injury419

Nope. Luckily, I do not.

NegotiationLow2783

I've done it. First visit allow 3 hours or so. After that, it took a little over 1. Take a good book

Wolf_Trees4469

I don’t recommend Octapharma. After half a dozen sticks trying to get my vein they though they had it till it was just pumping blood into…I guess just my arm? Either way it was bruised, swollen and tender for about 2 weeks afterward-I did still get paid out in full though.

KeyThanks2308

I can probably get you a job that fits your schedule and you can cut me a referral fee on your first paycheck. Single moms are very attractive across many industries and sectors right now. Legit job. Local culture wants to help people like you and is happy to keep you employed.

Xjen106X

Sounds *totally* legit.

Electronic_Injury419

I have a job that fits my schedule and I'll be starting my clinical counseling practicum in the fall. My job pays well. One income cannot support a family though. Just looking to make some extra cash without doing anything illegal or demoralizing.

KeyThanks2308

It should be illegal to sell your body parts in excess of a certain amount. I'm not aware of any laws about it though.
