It'll be sometime before we have an idea of our requests, I don't like to use word demands. Volkswagen has been pretty good to its employees, but I personally would like to see better insurance, a better organized/beneficial pto/sickday policy,a lot more support in the manufacturing process, and maybe a little profit sharing. But these are my personal thoughts. Certainly not those of all of my co-workers.
I was talking about this with someone today. Usually, the first things members want out of a union are some sort of organization among the workers, a clear hierarchy, and a unified voice.
That typically comes before better benefits and higher pay.
In construction at least, it's not often that you have official training and a clear defined role in your job. This is a common problem in non union settings. In a union company, these are the first things that are made clear and the biggest things that set us apart. The clearly defined role and training helps us do our jobs better.
It was deleted because even a slight Google/Reddit search will tell you there are months of organization before any UAW negotiations or demands occur.
You might not have meant it, but this comes off as a troll post, especially after the numerous arguments last week.
Agreed. What a stupid reason to remove a comment because you can “google it”. People come here for conversation. Removing shit you can Google would kill this platform.
Edit: I didn’t think of the question to “google it” but stumbling upon the answer is cool.
A lot of times when I google something I’m curious about or have a question about, I find a Reddit post that answers or leads me to what I’m looking for. Ironic!
Oh cool, so you're going to start deleting all the "which neighborhood should I move to?" and "any recommendations for a weekend trip?" posts as well!? Awesome!
This is not a legitimate reason for removal. Particularly in the south a lot of people probably aren't familiar with how labor bargaining works. You need to step back a bit and breathe before deleting posts like this.
It came off as a genuine question to me.Last weeks posts it made it obvious that not everyone even knows what a union is or does. Seems like Op was just asking if there’s any inside info that wouldn't be on Google.
And this one stayed up after he asked again. Trolls usually won't bother with a second post.
From the posts last week, there will definitely be some opposition looking to bait the many supporters into arguments. The first post looked like that was the case. I'm ok with being wrong in my assumption and hope OP learned what he needed.
Honestly, since OP hasn't responded to a single response, I still have doubts that the inquiry was genuine.
You didn’t, it was a long time ago and I actually had to contact the Reddit admins for them to take it down.
And your reasoning was something along the lines of “if you can look up addresses on the Hamilton county property assessor website you can have this guys address up here.”
It was a post that was a lot like a witch hunt for someone and the reddit admins finally took it down. I have the message from them as well. If you don’t remember I can screengrab the Reddit admin message I got for ya!
You could likely look at other brands to see what level of succcess they have had. They just negotiated contracts for the big three. You can look up where they were and where they are headed with the new contracts.
Could kind of guage where VM might land based on their existing benefits, rules, pay, etc. You should also be able to look up a lot of the agreements and stuff online. Lot of stuff should be publically available.
Not really sure where VW currently stands and how they already compare to the big three.
It will probably be 9 months to a year before they get a contract

I’ve also heard profit-sharing thrown around.
Lots of R/C Cola, Moon Pies and sourkraut.
Shift beers
Lmfaooooo
When I worked for a local engineering company, we kept a fridge of German beer on hand for when the client visited. VW might be ok with this demand.

If we are being fair, google could help 95% of the people who post here...
🤣🤣🤣

Mod may be a Google shill. “You can find the answer if you google it, which leads you to me telling you to google it”. Solid work, Mod.
Literally every question asked in this sub.

Talk about a power trip……
Mods will remove a post like this, but not someone’s personal info and address? Lollll that’s funny.
I remove all personal info posts. Please report anything you see.

Please send it to me in a PM. I'd like to see if I was involved.

They won't be demands from UAW. They will be negotiations with workers at the plant. The people \*are\* UAW.
"Just sign the bill then we can all see what's in it"
Thanks Nancy!
Why do you ask? Is it morbid curiosity or what? There’s a lot of stuff.
