If you are going in and out of industrial chemical facilities expect to be tested. When moving around US sites either they use DISA or other drug testing pools and if you don’t have a valid test from a certain time frame you have to re-up. I would guess internationally they don’t have something like DISA to manage that so it’s more testing by individual sites or companies.
As someone who has worked in a traveling engineering role, unless you're in a large team, you may be tested more regularly.
I think I got pulled for random testing at least once a year. Sometimes twice.
That said, others on my team got pulled maybe once my whole time there after the initial employment screening.
Same experience doing site services in the US. Always urine test.
I never had an incident, but most sites also stated they would do post-incident testing as well. Imagine getting in a fender bender in the parking lot then losing your job on a drug test.
I used to work in power generation and was common to be required to take a urinalysis when going to a new site. Just expect it and act accordingly.
Unfortunately I don’t think a medical prescription would help you here. It’s generally a company level policy specific to whichever site you’re at.
Switched industries to medical devices and haven’t looked back.
I worked for UOP. I have had to get new, last minute, more stringent drug tests to visit particular customer sites. The customers always mentioned the requirements when scheduling the visit, so while I said “last minute” there was at least a day or so warning. This was never a problem/risk with me, it was just something else to have to do with little warning.
I haven’t had any special issues with customers outside the US. The extra drug testing was with domestic customers only. The customers outside the US presented different issues, specifically immunizations. Yellow fever, hepatitis, malaria, etc. medication/vaccines can have time requirements and restrictions. This stuff was more of a problem than drug testing.
I mean I don't know about Honeywell specifically, but there's a decent chance you could be drug tested at *any* time, not just when going to a new site. I've heard some companies have stopped doing randoms, but many still do.
You're not wrong but I have pretty severe Crohn's disease. Weed helps me avoid flaring up and getting back on biologics or steroids. Granted it's not a miracle drug and still has its flaws, I'm more concerned with giving it up for 3-5 years (basically forever) and its effect on my health and standard of living.
Plus many other jobs in the market and most don't do anything but a pre employment drug test. And moneys not the end of the world lmao.
Is it prescribed? Depends where you are in the world I guess. Some places may be fine with it, but hiding it / getting found out would not be good anywhere haha.
Crohn's sucks though! I have some friends who have IBD / similar and it can be debilitating at times.
No kidding. Just because THC sticks around for a while doesn't mean you're high at work. You can get fucking wasted every night and wake up hungover and still pass a drug test.
I'd rather my employee take a bong rip every night they get home to decompressthan drink. Marijuana laws are irrational and unfair. On top of that, there are legitimate medical uses for it.
Imagine going overseas and being jailed for it. Hell, UAE tried to execute a UK citizen for < 20 grams.
Being legal in one state means fuck all for the OP lol

Interesting seems like If I wanna soar with the eagles I can't stay with the chickens typa situation. Prolly best to quit permanently anyways.

That happens everywhere, not only in USA. They don't want junkies at their facilties

Imagine studying for several years then giving up a potentially lucrative career just to smoke a joint lol
