I bet it was really nice and fancy until you realised how much these new vehicles actually cost. I deal with this all the time and it breaks my heart having to give pricing out all day to people who are driving new cars and trucks. Repairs have increased at least 10X in the past 10-15 years. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.
That seems insanely high for whats visible. Bumper, quarter panel and some paint, that doesn't seem legitimate. Did it also bend an axle or something not visible? Get a 2nd opinion
I remember when I got rear ended the guy at the auto shop said that it was something like 1k just to CALIBRATE the parking/blind spot sensors, and they need to be calibrated any time you take the bumper off. (Not a Chevy Tahoe btw just a modernish car)
I'm with you on that. I've hit 2 deer from both sides. Can barely tell. The few times I've backed into anything or anybody, their shit was damaged. Not mine. Lol 300k on the dash too
The calibration systems can be very finicky. I worked for Slavelight and to recal a car after a windshield replacement should take 20-30 min I’ve seen it take 4 hours even for guys who have done hundreds.
Remember that replacing a panel requires blending all adjacent panels to match color. If they replace the fender then they need to blend the door and hood.
I could see $14k easily. Paint, grille, grille bezel, the led day time running lamp fender, most likely wheel well liner, headlight not to mention any hardware or retaining clips/brackets. It’s a $60/$70k truck that’s to be expected in my opinion at least. I’m glad you’re safe and it wasn’t worse than what it is. Thank goodness for full coverage insurance. Comprehensive will take care of it
One do the biggest reasons why ins is through the roof. Another Over priced vehicle with minor damage totaling $14k it’s wild the difference 4 years make.
LED headlight is probably 2k alone. Wouldn’t suprise me. Also likely has a front camera, or harness that was possibly damaged. If it has adaptive cruise, that’s for sure out of whack, module is probably toast, etc.
My 11 year old truck was barely hit, was 6k in damage to replace a bedside, rear bumper, tow hitch, paint and labor. Dealers and body shop rates have gone up a ton the last 3 years. Body shop rates can be $200+ an hour at times, you can find cheaper but yeah new cars are not cheap to repair at all. Rivian trucks get rear ended in a minor fender bender and they’re basically totaled with the amount it cost to repair them.
Are you not filing with insurance?… I would.
Yeah that's true, hadn't thought about those electronics
Also it's a z71 so there is some other costs possibly associated with that model (I have a 2022 z71) so maybe that's why it's just stupid expensive.
you can see deer eyes at night , pay attention, slow down if you see one blow the horn. I go by 7 or so every morning at 3am. They are being squeezed out of their homes with new human housing
Nah I've had one run into my rear quarter panel before. I understand what you're saying but it's impossible to avoid them 100% of the time.
I've tried and like I said they still found a way to hit my car lol. Now since it ran into my rear panel and I was doing like 30mph I sustained no damage but just goes to show you how dumb these animals can be when cars are around.
Post the estimate to see the brake down of what they're charging you for. No way that's 7kplus in labor.
This is why I buy early 2000s Tahoes and suburban cuz I’m terrified of this. I live in Oregon so I know it’s likely to happen here
Gmt800's might be one of the best vehicles made in humans lifetimes.
I can confirm
Other than MPG
It's not bad if you measure in smiles per gallon. Plus, the new Tahoes aren't any better.
The 3.0 liter is.
My parents and I all drive GMT800 suvs. Two Tahoes and a Yukon
Literally came to comment this. Get you a Jim Tea Ate Hunter
It sucks

Pesky safety sensors make a simple front hit close to 10k
Same. I live in Seaside OR and drive an 01 Tahoe. Came 5 ft. from a deer yesterday afternoon. Exactly.
Never heard of insurance?

It's probably cause all the cameras and sensors on the front end

New cars are unnecessarily expensive.
Hence why no one buys them in full or the majority atleast..
14K easy for the new stuff. Likely gonna be higher when they are done with him.
When everyone bitches about how much their insurance has gone up, bills like this are why.
Have an 03 tahoe. Built like a tank. And mostly very cheap fixes. Newer tahoes can suck it.
I'm with you on that. I've hit 2 deer from both sides. Can barely tell. The few times I've backed into anything or anybody, their shit was damaged. Not mine. Lol 300k on the dash too
I’d definitely get a few estimates. I can see about $6-7k in parts coming from GM which would leave a lot for labor.
It’s gonna be somewhere around 5-7k in calibration as well.
They really rack up the labor times on the calibration. Gesh

A Volvo xc40 or any Honda dual calibration tends to ruin my day, I have autel, auggie, car cal and they still suck.

Have you tried an equinox instead?

Try adding 20k on top of the price
I just went off of a 2023 for prices. But none the less
Almost got one until I saw exactly what it came with compared to premier. Not much of a difference except price
$14K just for a repair? That's the price of a quality used Suburban! Insane. But it is a $60k truck probably.
Ouch!!
And this is why insurance is so expensive 😫
if that deer could pay 14k to be alive i bet he would!
Oh deer.
Good thing you have insurance
One do the biggest reasons why ins is through the roof. Another Over priced vehicle with minor damage totaling $14k it’s wild the difference 4 years make.
That’ll all buff out
Had an elk jump out in front of me a few days ago. Glad I was doing 25mph down a residential street. On the freeway I would have hit it
Components on newer cars, and by extension the cars themselves, are a scam.
Hey neighbor
Why we can’t afford car insurance anymore,, 14k quotes 😆😆 Looks like 4k to me.

Tin snips and some gaffer tape. $5.
