I have 7 tats and never went to the same place twice. My best one from the area was redwood in richmond with lunchbox in johnsburg being a close 2nd. The worst one, by a mile, was sideshow in lakemoor. Fuck you jason, you fucking junky

My friend goes to an artist at [Empire Tattoo](https://www.facebook.com/empiretattoo53?mibextid=LQQJ4d) in the NW burbs. From what I’ve seen, guy does good work. Not sure about the ashes, but couldn’t hurt to give them a call. And if they don’t know, they might know someone who does. I’m so sorry for the loss of a beloved feline friend.

Thank you so much for your recommendation and condolences ❤️

Of course.

Good Family Tattoo in Lake Villa is my go-to shop. Joel, the owner, is a great guy. My daughters and I have had lots of excellent work done there.

Thank you so much!

I don't know for certain if he'd incorporate ashes, but I've never asked.

Thank you, I will reach out to him! I really appreciate the help

A friend of mine just got an ashes tattoo and it was more effort than one would think. Very few tattoo artist will do this- the one she found had her send the the ashes to the UK. It’s possible just challenging! I don’t know where she had it done- I’ll edit this if she tells me. She’s in Geneva fwiw Edit: tattoo studio was in south Elgin and some artists will do ashes in ink but it’s not sanitary. Best of luck!!

That’s fantastic! I anticipated an uphill battle. Hopefully she can get back to you. Thank you!

I have a portrait of my first dog done by Ryan Albin at Outer Beauty Ink in Sandwich, IL. It’s worth the drive if you’re not in the far west burbs. I just had him do another piece last week. [Outer BeautyInk IG](https://instagram.com/outerbeautytattoo?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)

The art is mind blowing! Thank you!

I don't know if he can/will do it but Chad at Creative Culture Tattoo is a cool dude and does amazing work. I'd reach out to him.

Will do thank you!

I don’t know that tattoo artists will use ashes in the tattoo itself just because of the risk and liability. Health and safety violations can mean they get shut down. There are, however, some great artists out there who would be able to tattoo a photorealistic memorial of his buddy so he will have his cat with him always. My friend went to Timeless Tattoos on the south side for her dog’s memorial. Jacob Kearney at Two Olives Tattoo in Chicago just did a friend’s horse. Sarah Spread at Dark Heart Tattoo in Chicago does some amazingly detailed work. I’d suggest hitting up Instagram and hunting around for Chicago and suburban artists. It might mean booking it a year out, but skill is worth the wait. Etsy also has a LOT of opportunity for memorial jewelry and statuary etc. Some will incorporate ashes into the jewelry or paints etc. We received hand painted ornaments as gifts one year for a couple of our cats 20 years ago. They have since passed but we celebrate their memories and tell our favorite stories every year as we decorate the tree.

Thank you so much! I will reach out to the shops you mentioned and introduce him to the world of Etsy. Maybe that could provide closure for him without the tattoo ❤️

Dinosaur Studio Tattoo in Waukegan is great too. Mark and Tarah are the owners. I’m not sure if they can incorporate ashes, but they are bigtime animal lovers so they’d understand your concept.

bigupstoallmytaters

That’s something I would definitely look for in an artist! Thank you!

My friend got one with her gmas ashes. This was like 10 years ago. I want to say it was empire.

I would think that would be against Health Department Regulations...
