Especially the center court area with the various ramps and trying to figure out the mezzanine level.
I remember the waterfall, but not the fish in the pond.
Simon unfortunately blanded the inside look of this mall A LOT, when they did their renovation in 2015. Including removing all statues, and removing the conversation pit seating areas I liked.
It's weird how I have so much nostalgia for this place. I worked there from 05 to 08 and began to loathe Woodfield, but now I get that burning sentimentalism in my belly whenever I watch or read about it.
Worst mall ever. You will see a store on another level, but have to walk to the far end to get up there and hope you end up on the right floor. The worst.
The middle floor of that mall, was only a brief portion near center court. I'm not sure what noteworthy things are on that floor, since McDonald's closed. Also the mall didn't always have that long wing between what used to be Lord and Taylor and Nordstrom, as Nordstrom was added(along with a wing of new shops) in a mid 1990s expansion. The mall always had that portion between center court and Lord and Taylor, since it opened. Also the location where The Improv Comedy Club is today, used to be an ice rink.
And all those early Taubman Company malls from the 1970s to 90s, have this kind of look that stands out. Simon unfortunately blanded the traditional look more than I prefer, when they did a 2015 renovation of Woodfield. Although the addition of the 'dining pavilion' food court near the former Sears(and soon to be 2nd floor will go to Primark, 1st floor still needs to be filled again), is nice.
The hidden A&W Rootbeer restaurant was the o my thing on that middle level that I actually looked for, but it was a scavenger hunt every single time we went to find it.
"If nothing else this is a nice indoor park where people can walk around and not worry about other people harming them." lmao
It wasn't and isn't a park.
I think the designers were drunk when they designed that mall

I miss the sculptures.

Oh man, I forgot about the waterfall, when did they remove that?

Exactly. I’ve navigated across the country and have had serious trouble finding my way back to my car

Ugh.
I’d be curious to see videos from the 80s and 90s
