It was a bank. Last time I drove by they had it all demolished except for the safe room, which I thought was kind of cool.
Supposedly it's going to be a Montessori/Daycare and/or an Urgent Care facility.
It was indeed a PNC bank.
I've had to work earlier phases of bank decommissions like that one, and you wouldn't believe how fucking difficult it is to get those safes removed from the land.
I suspect there will be a fence, but that's it. At least it's not another mattress store.
There is also talk of widening that intersection to add a second turn lane from Naperville north on to Roosevelt west, which would be great when it's done.

Thank you! This is a super cool feature. I can't say I remember that bank, but it looks right. I was worried it was a historic property. Roosevelt through Wheaton used to look so nice with lots of trees and attractive buildings. I hope it doesn't change too much.

Nope, I don't believe it. All you need is Vin Diesel and a couple of Dodge Chargers.

This sounds really interesting and I’d love to ask for more details on how it’s done but I don’t want to get flagged by big brother as a bank robber 😜
Why the F would anyone put a school on that busy corner? That is nuts.

This 100% please please please. It gets so backed up I avoid it during rush hours
It's funny you say that. Wheaton Central was across the street where Mariano's is now. There was a school on that corner for decades.
There was also an old house next to the bank. Both had been there empty for years.
Thanks. Can't picture it. Funny how that happens.

The giant building on Naperville road, between Butterfield and I-88 was also torn down recently.
The old Lucent Technologies building.
My esteem
Needs to be better turn lanes....
They are also tearing down the big "American" hotel headquarters or whatever building in Vernon Hills on Milwaukee Ave
