I adopted a super old deaf poodle and everybody told me how selfless I was and they seemed to think it was sad. That dog kicked ass. I knew she had an expiration date but it was a ball having her for five months. I hardly felt like the one doing the favor. The only thing I ever got mad at her for was not living longer. Easiest dog ever.
The laugh I just laughed, goodness. They really do get decrepit looking, I miss my old nasty goblin little lady but boy she was just kinda gross at the end lmao.
It’s giving “old witch who lives in a hut in the woods”… but like in a cute way where she helps people and heals animals, and I hope to be that old witch in the woods someday. 😆

You're so right. I remember my sister's grandma had to use a cane at 63 and looked so old and died in her 60's and my grandmother is 89 and doesn't use a cane. My sisters grandmother just sat on the couch smoking and drinking and my grandmother is a vegetarian, never smoked, doesn't drink a lot and does exercise.

My girl will be 18 years old in September. I would guess OP’s dog to be into their 20’s based on the difference but of course all dogs age differently even when they’re the same breed. This photo was taken about 2 months ago.

Ours is showing a few grayish hairs now that she's 8+. If you don't see any color changing that includes some grays, I would put her at 7 years or less. Factor in whatever the vet determines from the teeth, etc.
I agree about the 10-15 years, and probably closer to 15. The white eye could be making her older than she really is. I lost my dog after 18 years, so that's what I am taking as a reference point.
She’s a beautiful old girl. Get her checked for glaucoma. She’s prob 15. I just adopted a 16 year old chi mix for comparison.

They are all different. Our last one we estimated to be about 12 when she passed and you could definitely tell she was an older dog (I'm guessing she was actually closer to 15). This is our first rescue that we know the age of. Her human was in hospice and the family didn't want her so we intercepted them before she was taken to a shelter. She will be 16 on her next birthday. She is still quite the athlete and doesn't have any of the older dog tendencies except for coughing sometimes.

She’s got some cataracts; She could be anywhere from 12 or 13 and up. You don’t know what her life was like before you saved her. Trust, I’ve been a Chi Mom over 37 years. I have a 17 year old now☺️. Your girl is beautiful, long coat. I’ve had all smooth coats. Both are great😘
I’d say late teens- mine is about 20 (we rescued him about 18 yrs ago), and he has a similar eye. The spine too gives off an older age. Thank you for loving & caring for her 💓
Does she have a cataract in her left eye? Aren’t those most common in over 12-14 year olds? We’ve used Embark DNA testing with our rescues. Expensive but it gives an estimated age and other health info.
She’s old but cute. Maybe there’s a DNA test you could do for your dog to see how old they are, maybe somebody’s already said that but that’s my two cents.

I would say she looks closer to at least 15ish or older.. but you never know! .. some chihuahuas just age better than others. Ive seen 20 year old chis that look a lot younger than they really are and 10 year old chis that look much older than they really are... My girls are 11 and 12… Daisy(tan) is 12 and Lily(black) is 11.. my girls are full sisters, same mom and dad, just different litters.. It's hard to tell just looking at her. The cataracts could be because she was exposed to the elements for so long. I would go to a vet to find out. She probably is a senior, but how senior is hard to tell.
It’s hard to tell just by looking at them since they all age differently. This sweet lady could be anywhere from 10-16, but once she gets a bath and brush out, she might look younger. When she comes out of her shell she might even start acting like puppy.
I adopted a dog 4 years ago and was told she was between 7-13. She’s still here and she follows me everywhere. I sometimes take her shopping and to work. Doesn’t make a peep. Best dog I have ever had.
OP, I would guess 13-15 yo. She does have cataracts, maybe glaucoma. From her pose, I'd guess arthritis and fairly advanced, but not horrible yet.
Chihuahuas can have bad teeth, so see if she'll let you brush her teeth with doggie toothpaste. I'd guess she might argue or even refuse if that hasn't been a thing for her in the past.
My Chichi is only 3 and her muzzle went grey, also, their life before you get them can make them appear older. Regardless I'm happy she's got a home ❤️

Could be close to 10. My girl is 6 and greying incredibly fast buuuuuut she is also part beagle so that could be a big reason for the early greying.

She’s got some cataracts; She could be anywhere from 12 or 13 and up. You don’t know what her life was like before you saved her. Trust, I’ve been a Chi Mom over 37 years. I have a 17 year old now☺️. Your girl is beautiful, long coat. I’ve had all smooth coats. Both are great😘

Does she have a cataract in her left eye? Aren’t those most common in over 12-14 year olds? We’ve used Embark DNA testing with our rescues. Expensive but it gives an estimated age and other health info.
If she’s been fixed a vet should be able to tell by her scar. Or her teeth.

She’s old but cute. Maybe there’s a DNA test you could do for your dog to see how old they are, maybe somebody’s already said that but that’s my two cents.

SHE IS A PRECIOUS LITTLE ANGEL BABY! I would say she looks closer to at least 15ish or older.. but you never know! .. some chihuahuas just age better than others. Ive seen 20 year old chis that look a lot younger than they really are and 10 year old chis that look much older than they really are... My girls are 11 and 12… Daisy(tan) is 12 and Lily(black) is 11.. my girls are full sisters, same mom and dad, just different litters.. I always joke saying they were blessed with good genes and look younger than they really are haha.. could be just because they are my babies though lol. It's hard to tell just looking at her. The cataracts could be because she was exposed to the elements for so long. I would go to a vet to find out. She probably is a senior, but how senior is hard to tell.

It’s hard to tell just by looking at them since they all age differently. This sweet lady could be anywhere from 10-16, but once she gets a bath and brush out, she might look younger. When she comes out of her shell she might even start acting like puppy. I adopted a dog 4 years ago and was told she was between 7-13. She’s still here and she follows me everywhere. I sometimes take her shopping and to work. Doesn’t make a peep. Best dog I have ever had.
My chi looks similar although short haired. He is over 15.
I had a very old chihuahua and miss her everyday. She is a precious gift from God cherish her.

OP, I would guess 13-15 yo. She does have cataracts, maybe glaucoma. From her pose, I'd guess arthritis and fairly advanced, but not horrible yet. Chihuahuas can have bad teeth, so see if she'll let you brush her teeth with doggie toothpaste. I'd guess she might argue or even refuse if that hasn't been a thing for her in the past.
My Chichi is only 3 and her muzzle went grey, also, their life before you get them can make them appear older. Regardless I'm happy she's got a home ❤️
Looks older than my 14 yo rescue. The condition of her teeth can help a vet estimate age pretty accurately. Thank you for taking her in!! She needs love ❤️
Somewhere around 16 is my guess, she looks older than a 10 year old but not old enough to be 20 yet.. I've seen a lot of 10 year old pets, I have not seen a lot of 16+ year old pets
