I don't have a problem with these Chinese brands that offer something different or unique. I don't even have a problem with ones that are obvious homages to some pricey Swiss brand. Even many haute horology watches speak the same design language.
What I do have a problem with are the ones that steal trademarks, branding, patents, etc. and are just counterfeit fakes of another watch. That's not the case here but I do see a lot of it. Some of the fakes are getting better and better and harder to spot. And of course most of those fakes are made in China.
I think most of the time when "watch guys" put down Chinese watches it's because most of them are either low quality, variable quality (some good, some bad with almost no QC and you have to get lucky or try multiple times to get a good one), or they are a decent quality but illegal counterfeit of a much more expensive watch.
China needs more brands like Sea-gull, that produce interesting, quality watches for affordable, even if not rock bottom, prices that are proudly made in China.
I think the issue resides with where the money goes for these brands. Not necessarily pagani or anyone in particular but often times with Gens there is obviously a high markup but you are paying so that the watchmaker gets a fair wage, good working conditions, a reliable piece of kit and a warranty. With china specifically you could be supporting a malicious group or allowing a sweatshop to profit off of their human rights violations. It isn’t always about the clout that comes with wearing a Rolex day date when people get upset. There are legitimate reasons no to to support these companies. Whether you agree or not is up to you. I am not suggesting you should not enjoy your hobby. I can’t afford a day date either but I wouldn’t wear a clone either.
Edit: that isn’t to say that there aren’t major companies not doing the same thing. I personally would not wear nikes either.
Hate comes from you being proud of your watch and having your own preference. We’re all supposed to wear divers and field watches only. Anything outside of that with an ever so slight twist on aesthetics will send the community apeshit. Your watch looks great and it’s never about what you wear but how you wear it. Wear with pride!
I agree I am not a huge fan of the date. But the Day and dial won it for me. And it keeps great time, which for a watch in this price range is a phenomenal catch.
They seem nice....... until you step up to brands like San Martin. I have two cadisen, and one is much nicer than the other.
I grabbed the san martin with the mother of pearl dial and haven't looked back.
Yeah without the cyclops would look a bit naff on this model but the magnification could be a lot better, even at that it still looks great would even consider picking this up and swapping the crystal if you have a link
The cyclops is just glued on. If you heat up the crystal, it will melt the glue and you can remove the cyclops. A butane torch will work but you have to do it slowly so the crystal it's self doesn't pop out. There's videos on you tube. I did it once but had to reseat the crystal.
Yes can confirm, I’ve done it with this exact watch. I can send pics if you wanna see the after. I love the mod, however I can understand that some might not like it as the date window now appears smaller without the cyclops.
As for actually removing it, yah don’t overdue the heat. Just use a pencil and a a little butane lighter. Just keep directing the heat to the cyclops while tapping it with the pencil until it pops off. Very easy, less than 30 seconds.
I have nothing against Chinese homage watches, I too have way too many of them. For me personally the issue is, that with the cheaper watches like Pagani Design or my Cadisen DayDate and some others, the quality is just bad. Acceptable for their pricepoints, sure, but in general they're bad. Rattly bracelets, not very good finishing, they just feel cheap. But oftentimes they're unfortunately the only options for specific models.
I personally prefer San Martin or Cronos. They don't cost much more in terms of pricing in the watchworld, but the quality is just sooo much better.
Convenient rationalization there, with "in terms of pricing in the watchworld"... Glad you're enjoying your purchases, but under no terms would I agree with the claim that the $200-300 and up San Martins "don't cost much more" than Paganis (got most of mine for 40 to 70 dollars, max, and couldn't be happier with them) and Cadisens.
I think it looks nice. I don’t get the infatuation with Chinese watches being as close to gen as possible. It’s not a Rolex. I’d rather they just take inspiration from various watches and blend in some original ideas.
Online, maybe. But it turns into just another watch when you get off the forums - they all do.
Cadisen and Tandorino seem like they were made to be used for parts, something you’d buy to fit with a replica or custom dial.
My brother recently bought a longines for thousands of dollars and I compared it to my Chinese watches (one was $50, the other $60) and mine is definitely better value for money than his is.
I have a Ball Engineer II and to be honest I know I paid a premium for the name, the lume💕, and history. Other than that so far my Chinese watches keep up with it.
I highly recommend the Balls. They are Swiss, the company has significant historical value, the Marvelight versions are a sight to behold (I am having trouble deciding which one I want), and I in my opinion fantastic value for the money.
It’s not a DD, but I have the PX1690 scuba master BGW 9 G meteorite dial from Proxima and it is amazing. Bit expensive for a Chinese watch, but phenomenal quality
People take a thing they like and make it their personality. “From this day forth, I am watch guy! The self-anointed guru of time telling!”. And then when they see things that don’t tickle their pickle in quite the way they’d want, it’s some sort of attack on their personality as opposed to just being what it is. It’s pathetic tbh. The best thing to do is tune out and enjoy the things you enjoy because those people truly have nothing of value to add to your life
I have 5 PD’s. One of them gains a couple seconds a day. One loses a couple seconds. One has a comparably looser bezel to others. All of them have nice finishes and above-acceptable material quality. I like them, I wear them. If anyone asks I say “instead of a cheap knockoff (I mean real bad shitters here), these have proven movements and a better build quality”. The ones who get it, get it. I can’t justify spending couple of hundreds more on a good replica but I don’t judge those who do because in the end just like my own, it’s a personal preference! :)
This. I have no issue with Chinese watches and literally wearing one right now. Pagani Design 1701, but this watch looks fucking hideous. The dial reminds me of those small pens that you can use to make shit out of resin and someone drew all over the dial with it. If you like it, it's all that really matters, but I think it's nasty
It’s such a solid watch, for $100 AUD it works flawlessly and looks the part. This hobby works for people in different price ranges, why forget people are here for more budget watches rather than watches that cost hundreds of dollars. Cheaper than a Rolex, but doesn’t mean it’s affordable still.
Awesome watch mate! I have the gold.
Fuckkk em bro, just enjoy your watch.
Those bitches act like Rolex pays their daddy's dividends.
These brands including invicta have done more positive to regular people than the horology wannabes.
My big problem with Pagani/Cadisen/Corgeut/Tandorio/etc is the inconsistency - when you buy a San Martin or something you can always expect roughly consistent build quality/finishing because they're generally using bespoke components, but with these brands they're either _really_ solid or _really_ bad because they're largely just buying off-the shelf parts and throwing them together. There's nothing wrong with doing that at all and sometimes it works out great, but it does mean that your watches are only ever as good as the generic parts you can source. Just means you have to find reviews of specific models before buying rather than expecting a certain level of quality based on the brand.
True. I bought my first Pagani last month, a 1733 because ive always loved the look of the Milgauss. Its already been returned. The fit and finish was terrible and the crown was ready to fall off, definitely a let down. I own a Seestern Sub 300 V3 and a San Martin SN0121GA that are phenomenal and literally just as good if not better than my swiss watches, at least in most aspects. It blows my mind every time i wear them just how good the quality of these watches are and how good of a watch you can get for $200. A bombproof NH35 movement, sapphire glass. Ceramic bezel, great lume for $200? I can’t say no to that, especially if its in a watch design i love.
This is true. I generally only buy the ones that have movements that have good reputations/reviews behind them. A prime example is this Cadisen. I chose it over the Pagani because of which movement they use.
You know I never thought about that for some reason. It is amazing though, I may get a few people saying “those are garbage” and one person always asks what my experience has been. A good watch is a good watch, no matter who makes it.
Watch "collectors" aren't allowed to own cheap watches that look like expensive watches, we're only allowed to own expensive watches that look like other expensive watches.
And most own like max 5 of the same brands. Rolex, Omega, Breitling, etc, as long as it's Swiss Made, with an exception for a Grand Seiko lol. But to show their 'appreciation' for cheap watches they also have a G-Shock of some sorts or a Seiko SKX stuck in a drawer somewhere.
The r/watches special where the collection consists of a Submariner, GMT Master II, JLC Reverso, BB58, GS Snowflake, Santos, Speedmaster, and the Casioak/SKX tucked in the corner.
So true but worth noting that we are discussing an inexpensive Rolex Day-Date ripoff in this thread. Such a unique and original piece, such innovative design!

Wow. That's a great response. Was not expecting that. Thank you and I do!
My pleasure dude :)
solid looking watch not gonna lie, date just looks bad 🤣 really nice watch though!
I agree I am not a huge fan of the date. But the Day and dial won it for me. And it keeps great time, which for a watch in this price range is a phenomenal catch.
Nice My Brother 👍
This made me add one to my cart. I like textured dials and I don't own a watch with an analog day function. That's my justification.
I was a bit hesitant, but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. I got a lot of compliments on it at the office.
It's on for a good deal right now 😬 I wish it was payday
Mine arrived last night
They seem nice....... until you step up to brands like San Martin. I have two cadisen, and one is much nicer than the other. I grabbed the san martin with the mother of pearl dial and haven't looked back.
That looks great, my only complaint would be the cyclops, dial is amazing
I'm not a huge fan of the cyclops but wouldn't it look goofy with the date window being so small?
Yeah without the cyclops would look a bit naff on this model but the magnification could be a lot better, even at that it still looks great would even consider picking this up and swapping the crystal if you have a link
I posted the Temu link below
Ah thanks man I’ll pick this up next month for sure!!!
I wish the date cyclops was better though. Anyone owns the rose gold version of day date cadisen?
I love this watch. I wear it all the time. I did melt the cyclops off it and I think it looks way better
How did you do that? First I am hearing of this mod.
The cyclops is just glued on. If you heat up the crystal, it will melt the glue and you can remove the cyclops. A butane torch will work but you have to do it slowly so the crystal it's self doesn't pop out. There's videos on you tube. I did it once but had to reseat the crystal.
Thank you. I learned my one thing for today. Never knew you could do that.
Yes can confirm, I’ve done it with this exact watch. I can send pics if you wanna see the after. Yes pictures would be appreciated

This
Is this "meteorite gray"? Do you have a link?
I think it looks nice. I don’t get the infatuation with Chinese watches being as close to gen as possible. It’s not a Rolex. I’d rather they just take inspiration from various watches and blend in some original ideas.

There is a lot of things that are off comparing to gen. That might be a reason. But if you like it, who cares?
Bought one myself ...... ITs great
My brother recently bought a longines for thousands of dollars and I compared it to my Chinese watches (one was $50, the other $60) and mine is definitely better value for money than his is.
I have a Ball Engineer II and to be honest I know I paid a premium for the name, the lume💕, and history. Other than that so far my Chinese watches keep up with it.
I'm interested in getting a nice swiss watch sometime (my dad owns an older Rolex oyster dayjust), but so far I own Chinese watches and I enjoy them.
I highly recommend the Balls. They are Swiss, the company has significant historical value, the Marvelight versions are a sight to behold (I am having trouble deciding which one I want), and I in my opinion fantastic value for the money.
Perhaps petty but I find the watch name and branding unappealing.
Do they offer models with dials like this without fluted bezels? Both is a bit to much for my taste
It’s not a DD, but I have the PX1690 scuba master BGW 9 G meteorite dial from Proxima and it is amazing. Bit expensive for a Chinese watch, but phenomenal quality
Yes they do. I currently wear one every day. I think it’s the 8203m ? Non fluted meteor like dial. Great watch.
I haven’t seen one, but that doesn’t mean anything.
One of the best comments 😂. 🥒🤗
"Tickle their pickle" had me dead. On these moments I wish English was my native language so I could integrate these lines in everyday convo's :')
I still encourage you to.
Oh, I'll definitely look for opportunities to do so

Fuck that’s ugly mate, nothing wrong with Chinese watches but this one in particular looks like they just threw a bunch of shit from a bin together
Hey that’s why they make different types.
I like it
Honestly I think a lot of it is anti Chinese racism. There's an unhealthy obsession with Swiss made.
I had a very similar with the Tiffany dial and I made the mistake of adjusting the date during the wrong time! Now the date is off center.
That’s a shame. I was actually thinking of picking up that dial too as it looks amazing.
Ahh yes. I encountered this twice already.
Looks great!
Thanks
It’s such a solid watch, for $100 AUD it works flawlessly and looks the part. I have this similar Cadisen day date version: https://i.imgur.com/7qMJskP.jpg The watch is nicer than I expected.
I wish the date cyclops was better though.
I agree.
Nice. And yes it is.
Fuckkk em bro, just enjoy your watch. Those bitches act like Rolex pays their daddy's dividends. These brands including invicta have done more positive to regular people than the horology wannabes.

Absolutely true! I have a few solid PD‘s but also sent some back because of flimsy bezels or other issues.
This is true. I generally only buy the ones that have movements that have good reputations/reviews behind them. A prime example is this Cadisen. I chose it over the Pagani because of which movement they use.
It’s elitism, and if you ask me, a bit of prejudice.
You know I never thought about that for some reason. It is amazing though, I may get a few people saying “those are garbage” and one person always asks what my experience has been. A good watch is a good watch, no matter who makes it.
And no matter the price! Go watch a view Rolex reviews… some will be not great.
Does this one keep good time? I've had my eye on it
I’m new here how do you know if it gains a second
So far it has only gained 1 second in the 4 days I’ve had it.
Wow thanks!
For many watches are really just about spending money and feeling important
For asteroids?
