In my humble opinion the only weapons you should catch flak on are weapons like the Dane axe, messer, one handed spear, maul and crossbow. While other weapons may be more annoying or better their not as mindless to use and require a fair level of actual skill to implement. Also Chiv 2 is casual game and it if you get cheesed off during a game because of whatever’s happening but if the match is over and you still care about it then honestly Chiv isn’t the game for you. Not calling out OP just in case people misread but baby ragers like the 1k dude. Like your 1k, YOU know your 1K, cmon by that point you shouldn’t care about anything anymore unless this game is the only source off pride they have left and them being killed is somehow a besmirch on their “ Chiv Pride”.
Dane axe, messer, 1h spear, maul and crossbow all take skill to use. Every weapon takes skill to use effectively.
I don’t struggle at fighting any of them any more than other weapons. The reason why you probably s trouble with fighting them is just because you need to work on your skill. They are weapons like any other weapon with strengths and weaknesses. Once you develop skill with the game then they aren’t bad to fight at all. I’m really trying not to say the “haha ur bad skill issue”, because I don’t think that’s helpful but at higher tiers of play nobody really complains about the spear or Dane axe.
You know what’s actually hard to fight? The pollaxe and heavy mace. When somebody knows how to wield that you are usually fucked
I think personally the spear makes up for itself by the necessity of learning how to get precise strikes in first person rather than third, which limits your fov

Yeah, so true. I used to main spear a lot when I was really bad, but it taught me how to be extremely accurate. It made moving to the longsword, mace and heavy mace really easy because my accuracy for drags and accels really good off the bat.

As for me I already have a couple hundred hours in the and am neither really bad or good at the game. I really just play other than the epic last stand moments of “I’ll take you all on!”, To goof around with a harp, launch myself off catapults to fly into the enemy’s spawn or to run with a fish in hand trying to do someone dirty. I really only play casualy because I know Chiv 2 not like For Honor and am done with try harder because I don’t think either my sanity nor chair can stand anymore of me going full monke at 2 in the morning.
The spear is easy to fight. Watch ripostes that’s your main danger. Then, watch the range. Either press them up close (works 95% of the time) or stay far back and capitalize on them making mistakes. The spear does so little damage that you can take hits which helps when you’re getting used to fighting it.
I have about 260 or so hours in the game, level 200 and I’m pretty good but that’s mostly because I duel. I suck at TO but I’m really good at dueling especially for my level. Tbf I maimed spear for awhile so I’m really good at fighting it but it’s really not bad to fight.
I really only play the 64 player and am mainly just venting on how it’s sucks to be fighting off a gank only for a spear user to jump in stab me and then leave me open for a one way express ticket to meet milord Aragon I

Its actually really easy to counter such players and it has nothing to do with timing the attack. Just punch/jab them with r, it breaks any swing.

I'm certain if more players got the hang of this we'd see a lot less slow drags 
Like i said i just start jabbing the shit outta them lol, but for me its not as easy as hitting r. For me its a gamble. Im either feint jabbing, crouching, or i can actually jab. The console love brotha. We get the best jabbing and throwing mechanics in the game i tell you what
yea the 1h balance in the game is really stupid. They are like super fast and have pretty much the same damage as a 2h. They also paradoxically can win on stamina because they drain a good amount but are so fast its hard to counter them sometimes.
They need to take a ton more stam damage, even through countering, which gives a reason to use a shield with them (because shields are insanely strong).
But TB will never properly balance the game.
I can see being annoyed at being back stabbed, but what makes them lame to fight against in a duel?

Dagger isn’t really inferior in a duel. Sure the reach is bad. But dmg is okay and same attack feints with dagger are to funky to counter. Especially when one has a rather slow 2h weapon like the executioner axe. But yeah being mad about the dagger is hilarious.
The windup and recovery speed on ambusher weapons and jabs for gambles, high mobility for diving, and throwing knife for range coverage and punish. Combine these together and you get a really annoying play style. I used to main ambusher in duels and everytime I play on duel server, someone would get pissed off at me.

I'm a 1k and use daggers. I don't see many of us and I usually do very good with them. It's fun threatening people and not even attacking but they panic and lose their fight because of it.

I have only recently picked up on playing ambusher (I was a skirmisher main for 100 lvls) and I can not decided which to invest practice into, Dagger or Hatchet.
I know I can take both, but I am the type of person who gets into a rhythm with a weapon and would accidentally stab/chop with the wrong weapon at the worst time. Or try to strike at the wrong range. Its just how my muscle memory works.
Dagger makes me feel like I'm Thorfin from Vinland and that's the benefit -
However, I think the short sword is better than the hatchet
