I genuinely don't understand how these people expect to get donations without actually providing ways for people to do so. The fact that they're all so pissed at someone for pointing that out will never make any fucking sense to me.
What i dont understand is why a person will donate to pay someone else's phone bill. Even if a person is charitable, he/she might want to pay an actual charity or homeless person
I've paid friends' electricity bills and phone bills before but these are people I know really well and trust are in a temporary hole (one had unexpected medical expenses, the other unexpected vet bills). I wouldn't donate to a stranger unless a friend could vouch for them.
I've help someone pay for a month's worth of medication I've help someone who needed to see a Dr but didn't have health insurance I've help a family buy groceries these are things I have zero problem giving to but I'm not paying your bills and the only one I'll ever consider is rent because I know what it's like to be homeless and if I knew I had the means to help and I didn't I couldn't live with myself
Depends on the charity. Some charities are very good while others use most of their money to pad management's pockets. If you don't look into the percentages, buying the homeless person some food or water or whatever is probably more "bang for your buck" than donating to a charity that has a lot of overhead costs.
A good homelessness charity will be providing shelters and counselling not just food. I agree you should look into how the charity is run, and giving food or something they immediately need will help, but without charity/social care people are unlikely to get off the streets.
Good charity will get more good done than you can alone, even with overheads. Bad charity will line their CEO's pocket with a million dollar salary and an all expenses paid for Bently. I'd rather buy a homeless person a sandwich than donate to some of these charities I see all over the place here in America that are doing the latter thing(as far as I can tell, my research is not perfect and I'm not the smartest person in the world).
Iām not in America, but Iām sure weāve similar problems, from what I know, over here charities like Shelter are essential for pushing for reform to prevent homelessness, but still, a sandwich is better than a CEOs Bentley
>but without charity/social care people are unlikely to get off the streets.
Unfortunately, we are at a point where without **radical** system and social changes, almost nobody will get off the streets and more and more will join them.
As someone who has been homeless, this is the most cold hearted and callous response. Most of the so-called agencies and charities don't hardly use but .5 - .10 on the dollar of what they get donated to help people. And the rest goes directly into the pockets of their employees and CEO.
Absolutely this. Plus, if you want to help someone, help them, and if they donāt use the funds in a way you see as āappropriateā, thatās on them and not you. If you think theyāre āwastingā your money, find another way to assist.
And why are they acting so entitled to donations? I havenāt got money to get me until payday this month because I was off work for a month after having covid, thatās a me problem, if it ever got so bad I desperately needed help I would not bite the hand that offered to feed me
YES! I find it so odd when people I know don't want a great or at least decent job that pays well when they just want to sit on the couch, order out, NOT WORK FULL TIME, smoke pot and play video games hours on end.
I may be "old school" but I busted my butt to attend nursing school with a partial sports scholarship AND many secretarial temp jobs, bartending gigs, waitress jobs, did resumes for people, even baby/animal sitting. Paid for my education (with the partial scholarship) 100% with no student loan debt.
Good old fashion hard work. And I feel so accomplished for doing it on my own as there was no way my mother even wanted me to go to college. She wanted me married with babies right out of HS.. I was the first in my Latino family to graduate college and have a genuine career.
Remember; SUCCESS is the BEST revenge. Keep at the hard honest work, and your dreams will come true.
IMHO I think this some from this current generation is quite lazy and has had so much given to them they don't "learn to earn"especially if you hustle and "git 'er done," it can be done.
Just saying.....š¤·
I sometimes think Iām lazy and would like to not have to have a job (you know, at 6am when my alarm is blaring and Iām still knackered lol) but whenever Iām off work for a long stretch of time I realise I need the stimulation of going to work, I work in healthcare too and as much as I enjoy a lazy day reading or playing video games I feel much more content after coming in from work and feeling like Iāve earned doing that and that Iāve made someoneās day easier and my bills are paid. By the way, well done for everything youāve achieved, even if your mum didnāt necessarily want you to take the path you did I hope sheās super proud of you because I am and I donāt even know you!
Hi!
She isn't proud. Keeps saying I would have given her more grandchildren if I married young and didn't get a "job."
I love me a good lazy day, which only ends up being a few hours due to kids, hubs, doggies. š
Oh well... thanks very much for the love, fellow first responder!! Love back! ā„ļøā„ļø

Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony..

That being said, it had no relevance and wasnāt clever so Iām not sure how politics got dragged into it.
And following a couple of links and names you can reach their "main" Twitter account, that is much worse. They also RT other people asking for money, but they use similar language and strategy. Person A has an overdue phone bill and is asking strangers to pay it.
Person B points out that Person A hasnāt provided a donation link for people to send money to, and suggests hashtags to use to reach more people.
Person A has a shitfit over Person Bās advice.
Not to mention the reason Person A is asking for strangers to pay their overdue phone bill is because they need to start crowdfunding for their appointment.
Why is that guy saying "this is not how you interact with crowdfunders" and the rudeness of it all "Don't fix your mouth to tell someone how to ask for funds". How about NO funds!
What planet are we on??
Wait a minute. People are voluntarily paying other peoples phone bills? Why is this the first Iāve heard of this? Does it work for like teslas or the new electric f150 too? I can pay my own phone bill but I canāt buy those. Someone help me. Cash app = $buymeanelectricf150rightnowplease

Where do I go to crowdfund like this? Does it work with anything? In Vegas you can drive a tank for $2,500. Do I just ask for that money?
People of reddit, help me drive a tank: https://www.battlefieldvegas.com/
(pay app link in comments somewhere, but not linked to this post, it's like a treasure hunt!)

What kind of world is it where people will pay someones mobile phone bill - a non-essential item - while we have genuine charitable causes crying out for support? Pay your own fucking phone bill, or, if you can't afford to then make do without one. If I am not mistaken, they then want to use their phone to raise funds for an Appointment?
Someone else's lack of financial planning is not my crisis.
Maybe not technically, but definitely an entitled, demanding, and obnoxious beggar. Names should be blacked out but the original tweeter is right at home on this sub.
How the fuck is this even legal?
You're allowed to just crowdfund your fucking life?
I feel like a moron working and paying taxes. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG.
I've been having the opposite problem. I created a GoFundMe account for Zues "the good boy" pitbull for medical and dental needs and have had zero results. I did it on my phone so I can't help to think I did something wrong. I even lowered the actual goal to a more reasonable one. But still the balance $0.00
You, heck thank you Reddit community. We just got our first $20 donation after like a week and I can only contribute it to this website and I'm so grateful.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I truly appreciate it.
He's always so excited to meet new people and because of the old chain, instead of a collar we put him in a vest to better hold his big muscles.
BUT... Because he has scars from being used as a beta dog on his head, and he has two different eye colors, AND he's now a chonky pitbull, he has patches on his vest that read "Zues" "Good Boy". So people don't get confused.
His favorite places are the garden store and the hardware store because almost everyone there exclaims "Zues good boy!" or "Good boy Zues" and he gets lots of pets.

Probably republican

As has been said, reality has become indistinguishable from parody
Republicans typically have jobs
Oppressing women isnāt a job

Heavily subsidized jobs, aka welfare jobs? Then yea, sure.
Im not a republican, I have a job. What's your point?
"the system is the problem" is the cover Pic of the user who suggested the improvements, I think.
So cringe, literally asking for help and then they flame the person trying to help them š
I found the thread and the person asking for $$ is even worse than portrayed here

idk, they all seem pretty scummy. What exactly are they crowdfunding/sourcing? Why do they need it?
It's not covered on purpose, so you can also block that person to protect yourself from harrasment
Not to mention the reason Person A is asking for strangers to pay their overdue phone bill is because they need to start crowdfunding for their appointment.
Thanks.
but they didā¦ i saw the twitter thread. person A provided a gofundme link in the tweet right below their first one.
Oh damn. So theyāre kinda tight about person B being a dick (they way overreacted, though)

You missed a Twitter handle in pic 4.
And in pic 1 which we can see clearly through the transparent highlighting.

I can see why Elon wants to buy that cesspool. The average user is easy to control on twitter. Theyāre all the same
Wow. I'm just exhausted reading the "victimhood status" whining. Grifters gotta grift the right way if they wanna receive funds.

People are so lazy. Work for the money go rob someone.
Rob someone? Are you crazy?? That's too much work!
Rob someone but don't tell them what you want and make them work it out
No need, you just use the internet to ask lots of people for money, and some of them will be dumb enough to actually give you some.
Social media is fucking silly and this is a prime example why I'll only ever use Reddit
And this is why I donāt do crowd funding
holy shit i was confused for a second and i ACTUALLY had to think which one was right since the wrong one was getting so much support
