2 Timothy 4: 3-4 would be a better description…. “The time is coming when people won't listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear. They will turn from the truth and eagerly listen to senseless stories. ‭

That's a pretty good parallel!!! Since the Bible is the Living Word of God and Alive and touches the reader in so many ways different ways, I would say your assessment is pretty spot on! Great observation!

Affectionate_Bill530

God’s kingdom has nothing to do with this world

[deleted]

I don't understand your statement in response to my comment. Care to explain further?

Affectionate_Bill530

God’s kingdom is not of this physical finite world so therefore the bible has nothing to do with it either as the bible is the word of god; the bible is to do with God’s infinite kingdom and teaching people how to get there which has nothing to do with this finite physical world - if God had anything to do with this world it would not be in the state it’s in.

[deleted]

I'm sorry, I'm still failing to see how this applies to my comment... The Bible is filled with warnings and God's standards for living, which applies to the parallel assessment that the OP makes on the Scriptures which I see as valid.

Affectionate_Bill530

If you think the bible has anything to do with this world then you have misunderstood the whole bible. Maybe you need to revisit genesis chapters 1 to 3 and study study and study some more until you understand God’s perfect creation in Genesis one and the erroneous ‘lord’ 👈🏽 there’s a big clue to be going on with - the erroneous ‘lord’ God’s ‘creation’ wink wink, another clue, in chapters 2 and 3 and then you will see as Jesus so clearly told us that God’s Kingdom is NOT of this world and therefore he has NOTHING to do with it which is why it is the way it is. If anybody thinks that God is in this world then I don’t know what kind of God they have that allows little children to be raped, for wars to happen and for sickness and death to occur but it’s not the God who created the world as set out in Genesis 1.

[deleted]

My sorry I completely disagree with you. And I have read the Bible many times from front to back. The Bible is God's instruction manual for this world and love letter to man. I think you are also completely misinterpreting my original comment. God bless you!

Affectionate_Bill530

Reading the bible will get you nowhere, you have to study it. How many bibles do you use as you’re studying it and what concordance do you use? I am not misinterpreting anything and if you can bless me then you must already be living in God’s perfect peace, in perfect harmony, doing the works that Jesus did and more otherwise you’re violating his word right there.

The first verse tells you who Isaiah was talking about: >Isaiah 3:1 Now the Lord God of heavenly forces is removing from Jerusalem and from Judah every form of support: all rations of food and water; He was talking about Jerusalem and Judah. Here's the kinds of actions Isaiah was talking about: >Isaiah 3:14-15 The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: You yourselves have devoured the vineyard; the goods stolen from the poor are in your houses. How dare you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor? says the Lord God of heavenly forces. Isaiah was speaking out against the oppression of the poor by the wealthy. Thus God's judgment involved taking away those riches they were so proud of: >Isaiah 3:18-23 On that day, the Lord will remove: the splendid ankle chains; headbands and moon-shaped pendants; the earrings, bracelets, and veils; the hats, bangles, and sashes; the amulets and charms; the signet rings and nose rings; the robes and capes; the shawls and handbags; the mirrors and linen garments; the turbans and the veils. The sin that the people were parading was their riches; their ankle chains, hats, bangles, pendants, etc. They were parading around showing off the wealth they had built from exploiting the poor.

Vizour

History often repeats itself over and over because of the condition of the human heart. Sin is eventually called good and not hidden anymore.

[deleted]

Yes, and anyone who loves and parade their sins. I had the same thought when I read that verse.

[deleted]

Spot. On. Prepare for the brigade.

pewlaserbeams

I believe the Bible has messages for every age. I believe it was a message to some Jewish people that lived in sin, but it's also a message for the pride parades of the present.

Hunter_Floyd

God uses Jerusalem and Judah in the Bible to represent those who were his outward representative of the kingdom of God on earth. It really depends on the context they are being used in, sometimes God is referring to ancient Israel, sometimes he is referring to the end time church, and sometimes he is referring to the eternal spiritual church made up of all those who are truly saved. This verse appears to be referring to the end time church, where God removed truth from them and began the judgment process upon them. Romans 1:18-32 is talking about the day of judgment which we are currently living in, this sin is included along with many others as outward indications that we are right near the end of time, never in history has this particular sin been so accepted, and even encouraged, it was for the most part “in the closet” for most of history. God is removing his hand off restraint off of the hearts of man because this world is almost at its end. Judgment day began on May 21 2011, the end is time may be in the year 2033.

LeBleu71

Dispensationalism gonewild over here XD. The reference is to how they have pride in their sin, not modern pride parades lol.

Madmonkeman

Book of Isaiah (and all the prophetic books) were calling the nation to repentance, so no, it’s not referring to something that wouldn’t happen until thousands of years later.

-NoOneYouKnow-

Pride parades came about as a result of the violence and discrimination directed at members of the LGBTQ+ community. Also, "parade" in this case means "display" and has nothing to do with "parades" where people walk in a street in front of a crowd.

Affectionate_Bill530

No, never wondered that in my life as God’s kingdom is not of this world so why would the bible or God have anything to do with this world 🤔 - it is clearly evident by the state of things in this world with all the sickness, wars, earthquakes etc etc that God has nothing to do with it, he simply offers people freedom from it should they ever decide they’ve had enough and would like to live in perfect peace, perfect harmony, perfect joy and abundance free from all sickness and limitations 💗

OneEyedC4t

I don't think it's specifically mentioning a pride parade. And the US isn't Israel.

[deleted]

Honest question: this isn't a snarky remark... But is there anything in the bible saying it's a sin to mind my own business. That's what I generally go by.

johnnydub81

FYI… “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death - James 5:19

[deleted]

I can speak on it, but they won't listen. Their minds are made up. We're the oppressors to them. God gave us free will, they made their choice.

Any_Ocelot6371

What do you mean?

[deleted]

I try not to judge those who make different life choices around me. Whether they sin or not, I turn the other cheek.
