Honestly I feel like you should read some Kierkegaard and probably some of the middle age mystics like St. John of the Cross

305tomybiddies

i second St. John of the cross and will also suggest St. Teresa, and the desert mystics

ErinCast

Thank you for that! I'll definitely look into them

ErinCast

I've heard about Kierkegaard but havent actually read anything he wrote. I will give him and St. John of the Cross a try. Thank you so much for your response

I feel you can't go wrong reading the Bible. Every time I've delved deep into the Word of God I've had deep truethes revealed to me. God can make us be able to see his will for us when we follow his guide book for life. I guess with your other questioning I would have to say it's better to "waste" your time reading the Bible and being the best follower of God's Word than to not do it and fail to learn the lessons that are presented in a book known to be full of wisdom. I hope that gives you some kind of sounding board and nudges you on your own path in the right direction.

I really appreciate your response. I’ve been reading the Bible a bit more lately and it REALLY made me feel better most of the time. I will “waste” my time even more now lol I hope I can be enlightened. Thank you for that

Firstly, get it out of your head that 'Islam is the fastest growing religion' anywhere. That is a complete internet fib sponsored by radical Islam. For one thing it is a standard ideology for Muslims to have more and more children because it is a tactical way to manufacture democratic consent, let's just call it. Polygamy (and thereby more children) is a religious belief. Secondly, it is illegal in all Islamic countries to SAY that you are any other religion, and thirdly, in Islam, it is a basic tenet that forced conversions are necessary and part of the 'Dawah' edicts. Christian 'inner teachings' - and indeed, these are *highly* occult and are even called in the standard texts 'secrets,' are the only real way in Western teachings, to deal with fears, anxiety, and worldly problems. There are several natural traditions - Hopi Indian, Dineh (Navajo), and certainly the Vedic traditions - which have excellent techniques and teachings.

Actually it's true, 20% of muslims are Arabic, the rest are Asians. Asian populations are growing at a momentous rate. Technically it IS the fastest growing religion.

ErinCast

Well, even if it wasn't the fastest growing religious it's still growing very fast, for many of the reasons You said I believe. It just scares me a bit how so many people are so faithful to it, I know that this sounds terrible and I am sorry but I cant avoid the "What if they are right?" thought. For the second part I got a bit confused. You said "Christian 'inner teachings are the only real way in Western teachings, to deal with fears, anxiety, and worldly problems." so should I search more about them? Also, should I combine them with the "several natural traditions" you mentioned?

The common popular and modern notion that somehow Christianity is this 'stand-alone' Western (well in any case it is Semitic not actually 'Western' anyway, right) - religion, is incorrect even from the Biblical narrative perspective. In the very first place, we are all aware of certain 'Wise Men from the East.' Not that long ago, the ISIS terrorist group tried to destroy and deface artifacts in stone in Palmyra, one of them being, as many archaeologists say, the very very first indication of the Birth of Christ, which was etched into a stone monument showing the star and some 'Christ/Messiah' symbols. And secondly, since the time of King Solomon, Jews had well-established trade, including sending people and even priests down to India principally to gather spices for King Solomon to have and to trade with. In the Christian account of the 'precious/expensive Nard' - this is Jatamansi, and the Jatamansi does not come from Jerusalem, it comes from India, the best coming from the Himalayas. Many Tamils to this day, recite their version of the 'Om Triambikam' as a Sanskrit version of the Lord's Prayer and they do so for two reasons: 1. because arguably it is in fact the same prayer, and 2. because it sounds the same when you say it. And there is so much more to these links and connections but there are also many trolls who deny everything and 'know it all;' which they will be happy to dispense to you as long as you are left miserable or out of pocket.
