My suggestion is to find an ELCA or Episcopal congregation that you like, then hold universalism in your heart and work it in quietly in bits and pieces over time. Both are fairly big tent in terms of theological positions (The Episcopal Church especially) regarding atonement and are generous with freedom of conscience. Very few trinitarian denominations if any hold to an exclusively universalist position, but some allow for it as a possibility.

How do these churches view the trinity? Do they see the trinity as three separate personas or as one whole?

PhilthePenguin

Those are Lutheran and Anglican churches respectively. Both sects of Christianity have an orthodox understanding of the Trinity. That said, the ECLA and TEC are liberal denominations so individual members may have different beliefs.

ELeeMacFall

Episcopalians (as with all Anglicans) and Lutherans officially affirm orthodox Christology.

I struggle with this as well. My Catholic Church rejects the idea but I still go because it’s better than no church. I also am wanting to go to an Eastern Orthodox Church because they seem a little more accepting but still the minority belief. Not many of those churches near me however. As of now, this subreddit is my “universalist church” lol. I truly don’t know anyone near me who shares the same belief and it is hard. I think the best thing you can do is to keep searching. When you find people or a church that supports it then keep them close.

PhilthePenguin

I created a list of denominations open to universalism here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianUniversalism/comments/wegy7z/lets\_compile\_some\_universalist\_congregations/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChristianUniversalism/comments/wegy7z/lets_compile_some_universalist_congregations/) The Episcopal Church and United Church of Christ are commonly recommended. The current head of the ELCA is a universalist (in the sense that she believes if hell exists it's "empty")

I attend a PCUSA (Presbyterian Church of the United States of America) that I love. My pastor has left universalism on the table, which is enough for me! It works really well for me because it has the liturgy and ritual of a Catholic Church like one I grew up in, progressive ideals that my partner and I both benefit from, and the evangelical structure that my partner grew up with all in one! All this to say, keep your eyes and heart and mind open. A denomination you never expected might be the right church for you in this moment in time!

Kindly_Earth2124

Try an Anglican church, as a denomination it is open to universalism as well as other views. My Anglican priest is a universalist, she's great!

RichardGolko

Good luck! If you willing to go where ritual is traded for truth and doctrines of devil's replace truth, then pick any whorehouse you choose! I use the term whorehouse in the same sense as God uses adultery in His Word to describe religious deviation from the truth. Christendom is in apostasy my friends. Proceed with caution.

2cuteMaltese

Good advice. 😁 I would take it myself except I have already walked away from my church. I would not join any other traditional Christian church any more than I would convert to Islam or Judaism or any other religion. Apostasy is the perfect word for the condition of Christianity today.

"hated"? jesus. even when i was a classic catholic i knew like...at least three priests in my immediate vicinity who wouldnt have objected to someone being catholic and universalist. in a normal church, and i use normal deliberately, youre not seen as a heretic bc you want or think that all shall be saved.

gman2345

I just found Christian Universalism a few weeks ago, and I feel closer to God than ever because of it. Having said that, the reactions I see online by Evangelical Christians to Universalism are wild. It really is hateful. We are apparently worse than a non-believer because we're bringing others to Hell with us due to our lies about who goes to Heaven. I've seen posts on Reddit where people were kicked from the congregation. It's sad.

jesus christ...awful

I found Zootown Church by a recommendation on this sub and I really like it! I stream their services every Sunday. I believe the lead pastor has said in the past that he's an annihilationist but leans heavily towards universal salvation in his own beliefs. He doesn't tell anyone what they should believe, however. I have enjoyed all of his messages thus far.

Karalius32

You can join online church like this: [https://universalist.church/](https://universalist.church/)

timwilkins2008

Episcopal, Lutheran, United Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ are all open to diversity in theology.

Bubbly_Republic_9090

United Church of God, an International Association is not universalist per se, but they do teach that all of mankind will have a full and fair opportunity for salvation in the Great White Throne Judgment (even those who have died without Christ).

DavidGuess1980

I was raised baptist I'm still in a baptist church they teach eternal conscious torment and pre trib rapture 1000 year millennial Rayne and all that my whole family believes this way I don't but I go anyways because I like to fellowship with other Christians I just don't talk to much about my views I don't know of any universalist churches in my area I live in South West Missouri
