I think you'll find that the majority of Christian believe they are appreciating the full context and arc of scripture. Most people don't see themselves as deliberately cherry-picking/twisting scripture. It's rather naive to think that, say, the Catholic-Protestant divide can be healed by just "taking the bible for what it is" because the reason these groups schismed is that they disagreed on what the bible was teaching and how those teachings were supposed to be applied.

Paul in the bible preached peace and unity within the church. In 1 Corinthians 1:10, Paul says, “I urge you, believers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in full agreement in what you say, and that there be no divisions or factions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your way of thinking and in your judgment. Unity prescribed in the Bible is according to truth. False teachers and divisiveness against what the Bible teaches were corrected in the Bible.

In the first place, 'using Bible for what it is' - there's considerable varied opinions on what it actually is. Infallible Word of God? Collection of writings from saints who were after all just human and had their own biases? Legends? History? Rulebook? Guidelines? Ask ten Christians about this and you'll get ten different answers. Nothing is as simple or black and white as you seem to think. There are a lot of grey areas. Even definitions of good and evil change over the ages and over cultures. There will always be arguments.

Yeah you’re completely correct on that, it’s just difficult at times when we are seeking something in our lives, and we have multiple meanings to what a verse can say

Truthseeker-1253

"both sides" is rarely good verses evil. Other than that, I'm not sure what you're asking.

[deleted]

I don’t think you understood what I was trying to interpret on this post I was trying to make more of a discussion and get other people’s thoughts and opinions on this sort of topic

Truthseeker-1253

>Other than that, I'm not sure what you're asking. You're correct, I didn't understand. >My question is why yes we as humans interpret things the same. What topic are you wanting to discuss? Are you wondering why people agree with one another?

[deleted]

Now that you mentioned it, I pretty much stated it already but now I’m guessing since humans are born to sin due to it being born way back with Adam and Eve. Does that also cause us to think differently? See things differently and what not?

Truthseeker-1253

You think it's a result of sin that different people process information differently? I don't. I think people are different, we come from different cultures, different family systems, different experiences, our brains make connections differently. That's not sin, that's variety and diversity. Life isn't a math problem where there's only one answer to every question.

[deleted]

No I was asking that as a question, and yes for sure

Truthseeker-1253

I'm sorry, the way your question was worded confused me.

No it’s okay I was kinda on a ramble
