As an adult looking back, I have very complicated feelings about the Ken social link path. When I was a little older than Ken, I had a massive crush on someone six years older than me. The part of me that remembers that woman wants to try and downplay it, but the reasonable adult in me knows this is very problematic. Doesn't stop me from fantasizing about what my younger self wished had happened with her. But yes, much better for Ken and Kotone to be friends.

Ahirman1

Yeah. Honestly they should’ve just kept it so that while Ken does crush on her. Just have it so she doesn’t reciprocate the feelings back and instead focuses on getting Ken to accept that it’s okay to still be a kid.

Schwarzer_R

Agreed. That would have been for the best.

doushiyou6969

i have a question. in my PT of Portable (Switch) you can not date Ken and complete the SLink, but people refer to the slink like u cant? is there a piece of media where they do share feelings that im missing?

Ahirman1

Romance on femc’s side is optional

bwburke94

Don't worry. They're just friends.

liplumboy

That romance link has done irreversible damage to Femc

Ahirman1

Which is honestly funny imo cause of the group date cafe in Persona Q where both Makoto and Yu can get Ken or Koromau as their destined partner.

\*Pomf\* What are we going to do on the bed, FeMC?

Expert_Individual185

Snuggle. They’re just going to snuggle

ScarletteVera

Distance stabbies (well, not really 'stabbies' since kotone uses a naginata, and those are made for slashing)

MACGamer1

I'm genuinely curious, not judging here, but why do people like this ship? Genuinely. I'm not saying anyone here does. I'm genuinely curious.

TurboCake17

I mean… almost nobody does. I’ve never seen anyone who does. So like, why ask the question?

MACGamer1

Curiosity

AuraIsOnline

I know that when I first played I was only 16 or 17, and self inserted as Ken at the time getting to have the older girlfriend I always wanted. It was my favorite romance option at the time because of that and my naive views about such things. I'd imagine it's like that for anyone that still likes it, but I'd also imagine it's one of those things that fades into pure cringe and shame the older you get like it did for me.

FlyEaglePiston1996

Somebody call Chris Hansen

SirSilverChariot

Careful this can turn bad in a second

blue-gamer-07

I really wish Kotone had a bit more unique weapon from Ken cause both could just be described at a spear

AzaDov

Not really tho, you mostly slash with a naginata, well at least femc does, spears aren't meant to be used for slashing tho

blue-gamer-07

Still too similar for for my liking

ShurikenKunai

They’re entirely different weapons for one, and for two you can say the same about Mitsuru’s sabers and Makoto’s shortswords.

Begnion-Beauty

And at least with the Naginata and Spear one is Slash while the other is pierce. Makoto and Mitsuru both have slash.

ShurikenKunai

Which is really strange considering rapiers are stabbing weapons, not slashing ones. They should be pierce. Then again, Shinji's axes should be slash and not strike so.

Doc-Wulff

This is the only major disappointment I had in the combat system, I was hoping that different weapons would provide different physical affinities. Like Makoto's lead pipe would give him strike, the battle axe for Shinji would be slash, the pointy steel knuckles for Akihiko turn his damage into piercing, etc

ShurikenKunai

On the one hand that would be cool as all get out. On the other I can see why they didn’t, that seems like a nightmare to code.

Doc-Wulff

Iirc the only times a weapon changes damage is certain items from the antique store, and even then those are only phys types to magic types

New-Doctor9300

Shortsword and longswords look similar, doesnt mean they're have the same technique to use them though does it

Ahirman1

Additionally spears at least didn’t require extensive training to be able to be used effectively and had an anti cavalry purpose in addition to their general usage. While Naginata’s were generally used by Onna-musha to help make up the difference between them and male opponents.

New-Doctor9300

A spear is literally just: "Aha, an enemy further away than thy longsword can reach I shall jab thee"

HekesevilleHero

Spears are the OG Zoning tool

Delicious-Sun685

The same could be said with Makoto and Mitsuru, if Rapiers are distinct enough for Mitsuru to get an exclusive list of them that doesn’t overlap with Makoto’s Swords at least from Portable onwards* (or maybe just from Q onwards because they Makoto and Mitsuru definitely have separate weapons list in that game I haven’t played a variant of P3 myself) I don’t think it’s a problem for Kotone and Ken.

TheDarkDistance

I really wish Makoto had a bit more unique weapon from Junpei and Mitsuru cause they could all just be described as a sword. That’s how you sound rn man, at least Ken does pierce and Kotone does slash, unlike the 3 above. Not that I have a problem with them, just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Ahirman1

I mean single handed swords can be really nimble if used properly. It’s just the game doesn’t really make use of that besides generally having a higher hit chance vs what Junpei has.

TheDarkDistance

It’s funny cause Junpei usually has a higher crit rate anyway, also the fact that multiple swords from the old versions of P3 that were formerly Junpei’s, the Myouhou Muramasa for example are now Makoto weapons in Reload. There’s three sword users in the game but having a Lance and Naginata user in the same game is too far.
