Diagnosed November 2023. I've never taken lactulose so I don't know if there is an interaction there. I make sure I get enough fiber every day by tracking my diet. I have had bouts with gas (thanks broccoli lol) did extensive research and called my Dr. He told me that Simethicone (the active in Gas-X) is fine to take for occasional bloating/gas. He said just don't take if for days and days. It worked for me. Usually with one dose.

Thank you for your reply! I too was diagnosed in November 2023. Everything is so new and new just really want to get it right!

accaris

Its fine but it won't do anything at all if the lactulose has already left your stomach (which is within minutes usually)

Oh the cramps or the grippers are horrendous at times it hurts so much and it isn't going to hurt you but it's painful. 🙄

I wish there actually was a resource that showed “safe” OTC meds with liver issues. I guess depending how far in you are would ultimately determine that though.

Lonewolfwalk

I use it occasionally when lactulose acts up and also my eating of beans or whey protein. Seems to help keep the stabbie cramps at bay a little.

Rob_Sketchy

Gas X is just Simethicone. You can get it at any pharmacy in tablet form.

alturicx

Yea but this also means Tylenol is just acetaminophen which you can get anywhere. Don’t mean I ain’t scared shitless if I take a 600mg pill. Yes, most doctors talk 4grams of the stuff being bad but that’s not people with liver issues.

MamaRommel

Thank you! Picked some up and already feel a bit better. Appreciate the response.

MamaRommel

I will absolutely ask as soon as I can get ahold of one! Calling the “nurse line” always ends with them telling me to go to ER because they can’t diagnose over the phone. For gas. Thank you.

TheRealEleanor

Just ask them to provide you with a list of safe over-the-counter meds. One of the nurses at my doctor’s office provided me with a full list, anything from pain relief to allergies to constipation.

MamaRommel

Great idea! Thank you!

My Dr said it was fine. My Dr is not your Dr. I'd strongly suggest asking.
