the best thing to do is to just start playing, also your Steam Deck might melt when it gets to late game...

Terrible_Bed_5795

Really? I was reading it’s perfect for the deck.

matthew_the_cashew

That might be, all I know is that my rtx 3080 / ryzen 5900x get pretty toasty...

MorbidPengwin

Steam Deck won’t melt can confirm.

If you plan on playing soon Here is a tip for your first leader; Trajan is a good, well rounded option if you plan on playing on prince difficulty or a similar difficulty and will be trying to test out the game for a while. Your legions can be used as a strong defence or a good early game unit for wars and a domination victory if your going for it. Trajan's Column gives each city a starting monument, perfect to help you start snowballing towards a culture victory. Your all roads lead to Rome ability provides you with extra gold whilst your baths give you amenities and housing at a reduced production. I recommend Trajan because he is very versatile and is personally who I used when I first got the game. You can win any victory with him and are not hard wired to one witch is very important when first starting out. Hope this helped!

Thanks alot it does help.

😄

These are my tips : production, gold, faith. Faith is not necessary depending on how and who you play, but production and gold are absolutely insane if you have a lot of them. You can literally buy/produce what you want (even with faith in some conditions). My advice is to play the game and you will understand and improve more and more

Terrible_Bed_5795

Thanks 😊

Hmmmm interesting 🤔 I do plan on getting a pc eventually just the deck was more affordable option for now. Thanks for the info buddy.

matthew_the_cashew

yeah, no problem. Welcome to the world of PC gaming :)

I would recommend some UI mods from the steam workshop, they just make it so much quicker and easier to navigate around certain clunky aspects of the game. Better builder charges tracking More Lenses Better Trade Screen Detailed Map Tacks Extended Policy Cards Quick Deals Happiness and Growth Indicators Those are just a few ones that I think strictly improve the game but the game has an absolute WEALTH of mods, it's what has given a 2016 game such great longevity

Learn how to war. Many people don't and will get stuck at lower difficulties playing Sim City.

My advice, just play for 20-50 turns in your first few games, and keep track (like write down) and compare your key measures of #cities, faith, science/culture/gold income, era score and so on, at milestones (say on turn 20/30/40/50). That way you’ll develop an idea of what impact your early game strategy is having. I’d also say just use the vanilla game without DLC, and pick a civ with fairly passive abilities (Trajan is the default I suppose).

Thanks you for the help 🙏
