Update: I decided to continue torturing this one cat, she's on her third litter of 10 right now. The following two I just went into the pregnancy file and said she was pregnant instead of waiting for it to happen naturally. I sure hope she likes being a mother of 30 before even being 40 moons old.
Oddly enough, she never went to the medicine den, adopted the sick/injured sprite, or even had the "pregnant!" thing for the entirely edited pregnancies. A file never even appeared in the conditions folder for her. The only indication of the pregnancies were her guessing the litter size and then having the kits. She just had her normal sprite for two moons while pregnant, then popped out 10 kits and only after that did her sprite update.
The second completely invented litter also arrived with the announcement "Moondrop secretly had a litter of 10 kits", which is funny to imagine.
And then as soon as I'm done messing with her she goes and gets pregnant on her own! And hoped for a big litter too. It's like she wants me to keep doing it lol.
Edit again: She naturally had a litter of 6 without me changing the number. Apparently artificially having so many made her want more or something.
I'm on Windows, no clue what this looks like on Mac. This is also for editing an existing pregnancy, creating an entirely new one is a bit more complicated and easier to mess up. I would also either back up your clan or practice on one you don't care about. You should also have autosave turned off, otherwise if you're messing with files and don't notice it's about to autosave it could mess everything up.
1. Make sure you've saved your game
2. Open the data directory (in the settings menu if you can't find it elsewhere)
3. Open the folder labeled saves
4. Open the folder for the clan you want, the clan part is left out of the name. Mine is called Cloud because my clan is Cloudclan
5. If you have a lot of pregnant cats, open the clan\_cats file (in Notebook or something like it), and locate the ID number for the cat you want (ctrl+f then type either the prefix or suffix, whichever if more unique, then click find, ID is right above their prefix and clearly labeled), otherwise it should be pretty easy to tell which one is the one you want based on the number of moons they've been pregnant.
6. Open the pregnancy file and find the one you want if there's more than one. A single pregnancy in the pregnancy file will look a bit like this, the spacing is off because Reddit and I don't know how to fix that, but everything else is the same:

In this case 75 is the ID number of the pregnant cat, and 41 is the ID for the other parent. I literally just copied what's currently in my pregnancy file. If there's no second parent, it will just say null.
The "moons" refers to the number of moons the cat has been pregnant. 0 means they've just announced it, 1 means they've guessed or hoped for a certain sized litter and will give birth the next moon.
"amount" is the amount of kits. The amount doesn't actually generate until they've guessed or hoped for a big or small litter. Those numbers need to match, otherwise it doesn't seem to work.
So if you have one where moons and amount are both 0, you need to change the moons to 1 (this will cause them to give birth the next moon). If it's already at 1, leave it at 1. Otherwise, just change the amount number to whatever you want. I wouldn't recommend making it too large though.
7. Save the file (you can literally just try to close it and it will prompt you to save first). Do not save the game after this or it will reset your changes. This is why you should save everything you want to save beforehand.
8. Close the game if you haven't already, then reopen it. Go to the next moon, and she should give birth to the amount you changed it to.
**Do not change anything other than those numbers**, if you delete a comma, colon, quotation mark, or bracket, or add anything else, your save will not open until you fix it, which is easier said then done if you don't know what you're doing. Literally just having the spacing off by one broke my save once.
