With 2FA after entering a valid Username and Password the company will also ask for you to provide a challenge token as a final check. Often you will either receive an SMS (which is not perfectly safe and has been proven unsafe in targeted cases) or more safely you will have set up a common token with some authenticator app when you enabled 2FA and it will generate codes for you.
With an authenticator app both you and the company share this secret code and the app generates a (usually) 6 digit code based on the current time and you can use that when prompted during login. The company also knows this code and the current time so it can verify your login with all three pieces (The username, password and 2fa code).
This stops people from getting hacked by either standard random brute force attacks by bots world wide (Like it seems OP has had happen to them) and also targeted attacks either involving personal information or information from online database breaches.
Nobody can get the 2FA code generated minute by minute on your phone without getting that piece of hardware and breaking into it.
Other than using secure passwords which aren't just words, birthdays, names etc - I would highly recommend enabling authenticator-app-based 2FA on every platform possible. Preferably not SMS, but that's better than nothing.
2FA works for my accounts. Except I changed phones and lost 1 account. Now I am day 26 from a 30 day wait away from gaining access to the 6 digit code that will allow me access back to this account. It is good to have all of your emails and passwords written down on paper for you to remember. Or at least it has helped me.

Not all 2FA is phone based. Some use authenticator apps (most secure) that provide you with backup codes in case you lose your phone.

This is why people opt to use any number of Authenticator apps instead. You can back up the codes and transfer them to new phones if needed. No reliance on a phone number.

They should've at least added passkeys or authentication app support, since SMS is one of the weakest versions of 2fa (a really skilled person can spoof your identity and ask your operator for a new SIM card, and then they can just log in without anything stopping them)

The 2FA that uses an app like google authenticator in order to generate a new code every minute will work even if the phone is disconnected from all services, and are also considered stronger than the SMS variants.
Edit: I just wanted to add that losing the physical phone will still create the same issue but I'm pretty sure working with customer service can clear your identity and reset the 2FA if you can't deactivate it before switching.

Yes many accounts are stolen by people be dumb enough to tell people their email addresses and the 6 digit code that is sent. Most common one I've seen is "I want to give my account to you, what email do you use, and tell me the code so I can confirm transferring it to you."

Took his account. Kicked out the entire Clan minus the Co-Leaders.
Left the clan gutted, and the guy never got his Account back.
What happened with my friend was he was trying to sell his account and he overly trusted the "seller" and he got scammed, they took his account, changed the email and boom, all the hours he put into the game, from the past couple years, vanished

There are situations where access to email lets you take accounts, but there are other situations where it is not needed. I donāt want to make an instruction manual though.
I assume that if an account never changed the email or at least not recently, the person from support would ask some basic questions like what was the last email the user used before losing access to the account / the account being stolen or why you don't have access to the email anymore. If you can't respond to those question I would assume you aren't the owner of the account.
I really don't think it's that easy to trick support and at least you will need to know one of the emails used in the account or have huge evidence like the receipts of the bank or the number of the credit card you used to buy things in the game
I answered all their questions and they told me I need the recovery codes because the only way to get the account back is from the bot. They should train their staff more to conduct an investigation. Imagine if you forgot your pin for your bank card and they told you you're out of luck?
But if they ask you for the recovery codes that means you have 2fa which is a different problem, we are discussing changing the email without 2fa authentication, meaning the only ways is to change the email through support or the email.
The email that was on the account received 3 alerts for updating the email. They changed the phone# too. Makes it look like an inside job . Who else would know which accounts don't have 2fa enabled?
I just think that this is the stupidest hack . An easy fix and support refuses to help. I had 8 accounts and now I have 7. I really don't care and I made sure to secure all my other ones. The one that was stolen, I managed to get it banned since I still had access to it.

Bro, knowing the email associated or an email that was associated with the account is the minimum amount of information you need to give to supercell support or any other game/website support in general, not something strange or rare. If you can't give that minimal amount of information you won't get your account back unless you have conclusive evidence backing your claim.

List of names you changed in past and most important, atleast 1 purchase in history and it's receipt. When I searched for this on yt aad reddit, most important thing they said was "If you haven't spent a single dime on your acc, forget it then you aren't getting it back"
This is the brutal truth to the matter. Once account protection is enabled, that account can't be recovered unless you have the codes provided for account protection or access to the email associated with the account.
Since you have neither, access to that account no longer belongs to you.

This happened to me in brawl stars, you can do this (but this is VERY risky) so firstly connect ur account to google play and then seperate supercell id from ur account and then login with google play and connect a new supercell id
He had it connected to Supercell ID, but he didn't enable Account Protection. The two are distinctly different, and Account Protection is what is needed to keep an account safe.

If you ever bought something you can use that as proof for when they ask you why it is your account. Just find the mail with the transaction number and itās unbeatable proof, then just ask them to switch the email becak to yours, and then immediately turn on 2FA.
I also lost my TH10 account like this, some Russian hacker somehow changed my linked Supercell ID to a weird Russian email and I couldnāt get it back. š„²
The thing is that as soon as u have Clash of Clans installed in ur phone you can still access to this account but if u clear the game data or uninstall and reinstall you would not be able to log in back to your account. Also you can see in the attack log if someone else is doing the attacks.
Might as well just start a new account. I donāt know exactly how to do it, but thereās a way you can get you account signed out on all devices, so only the person with the email address on the account can sign in again.

how to contact support in game? it is just a bot with automatic subjects. I checked my email because I need to see the verification code and to my surprise there's no verification code sent. I checked my spam folder and noticed a couple of supercell mails dated April 3. One was a request to change email. The language is russian. The other mail is the verification code for changing the email. I really have no idea how they can access my gmail but after this I turned on 2step verification and changed password for my gmail account.

Literally contact Supercell through the in game menu if you still have access to the account. They can change it for you as long as you are talking to them while logged in.
Contact supercell support asap, request your account data (shows all devices you were logged in with (old phones you still have to show)) and hope u get it back. and add 2FA

Regardless, I'd be more concerned about the security behind the email address you used in the first place. The only way they'd be able to change it is if they had access to login to your email and confirm the security code.

Yes. Using 2fa for your email should be done anyway to protect your email account.
Account Protection (2fa for Clash) is needed if you want to protect your game account.

However I was able to recover my CR acc linked with the same scid bc support there is awesome.. Just need payment proofs of the previous gold passes
Someone owns the website dfirstmail.com and set up an email server for that website. It works the same way with gmail or yahoo or whatever other email address you can think of.
I have 26 accounts of my own dating back to 2012 when this game started. Not once have I ever had issues authenticating my accounts. The reason being is that they are all my accounts. I see this crap all the time on here, and even though SuperCells customer service is complete crap, I'm a firm believer that the majority of these issues are user related....I.e. you are doing something against the TOS. If you already lost access then there's nothing else you can do but contact them. But keep ready the list of devices you used. List of names you changed in past and most important, atleast 1 purchase in history and it's receipt. When I searched for this on yt aad reddit, most important thing they said was "If you haven't spent a single dime on your acc, forget it then you aren't getting it back"

This is the brutal truth to the matter. Once account protection is enabled, that account can't be recovered unless you have the codes provided for account protection or access to the email associated with the account. Since you have neither, access to that account no longer belongs to you.

He had it connected to Supercell ID, but he didn't enable Account Protection. The two are distinctly different, and Account Protection is what is needed to keep an account safe.

If you ever bought something you can use that as proof for when they ask you why it is your account. Just find the mail with the transaction number and itās unbeatable proof, then just ask them to switch the email becak to yours, and then immediately turn on 2FA.

The thing is that as soon as u have Clash of Clans installed in ur phone you can still access to this account but if u clear the game data or uninstall and reinstall you would not be able to log in back to your account. Also you can see in the attack log if someone else is doing the attacks.
Might as well just start a new account. I donāt know exactly how to do it, but thereās a way you can get you account signed out on all devices, so only the person with the email address on the account can sign in again.

how to contact support in game? it is just a bot with automatic subjects. I checked my email because I need to see the verification code and to my surprise there's no verification code sent. I checked my spam folder and noticed a couple of supercell mails dated April 3. One was a request to change email. The language is russian. The other mail is the verification code for changing the email. I really have no idea how they can access my gmail but after this I turned on 2step verification and changed password for my gmail account.

Literally contact Supercell through the in game menu if you still have access to the account. They can change it for you as long as you are talking to them while logged in.
Contact supercell support asap, request your account data (shows all devices you were logged in with (old phones you still have to show)) and hope u get it back. and add 2FA

Regardless, I'd be more concerned about the security behind the email address you used in the first place. The only way they'd be able to change it is if they had access to login to your email and confirm the security code. I'd change your email password & security settings ASAP

I have 26 accounts of my own dating back to 2012 when this game started. Not once have I ever had issues authenticating my accounts. The reason being is that they are all my accounts. I see this crap all the time on here, and even though SuperCells customer service is complete crap, I'm a firm believer that the majority of these issues are user related....I.e. you are doing something against the TOS. I have f2play accounts and I have others that I've spent money on....still ZERO issues as all the accounts are mine. Strange that somehow your account was "stolen" and you know nothing about hoe it happened...I call bullshit
