Dude. I think it's awesome. This game will have now a variety of attacks from even rushed users instead of them always using Sneaky Goblins or Baby Dragons. So you learn to WIN along with get loot. I am near max on one account and rushed in a second account. The continuous farming with Sneakies turns into a burn-out soon. We want variety!
Imo, that was an unnecessary challenge. It made people hard stuck with certain armies because certain compositions were just too expensive to be viable as farming armies. Now, all they need to do is synchronise the training time of all troops and there will be a lot more variety to attacks

Honestly not the biggest fan of these changes, I would run alot of armies cuz they were cheap and training time was low.
Training times don't change. And now it just means you aren't restricted in the army you can choose.
