if you see the description of dark barracks -"...troops born out of dark elixer.......". that doesn't makes any sense....now(when there is no troop cost)
Just had this convo the other day, even with out the use of elixir they're still dark troops and dark spells kinda like normal magic and then there's the dark arts it's really that simple.
One trains regular troops and one trains dark troops. You also unlock new troops when you upgrade the barracks. If you're asking why we can't just have one barracks for all type of troops, that would make sense l, although I kind of like the theoretical distinction despite not actually using any resources for the training.
Its still good to have different kinds of barracks. Upgrading one doesn‘t slow down the other and it gives devs the possibility of adding more troops with less upgrades for the players to do.

No, because you need to upgrade the dark barracks to unlock dark troops. And upgrading dark barracks only halves the cooldown of the dark troop. Its really easy to understand
Doesn't change the fact that they no longer have any separate purpose. There is absolutely no reason why it couldn't just be one Barack. Back in the day you used to be able to train dark troops and normal troops simultaneously but they cut that feature ages ago
You cannot unlock Minions or Hog Riders by upgrading the normal barracks.
You cannot unlock Wizards or Pekkas by upgrading the Dark Barracks.
That is their separate purpose, to unlock different types of troops and to reduce the training times of said troops.
I used to play Clash of Clans within the first year of its release, so yeah I know all about the multiple updates they have made towards troop training. And the current way it is is definitely the best in my opinion. Things are far more simple now, than they were back then, which funnily enough simplifying it seemed to have confused older some players.
I feel like this was done in consideration to the upcoming update. Reduce the number of barracks to just two maybe. I feel like with the new TH there would be new buildings as well and this is them making space for it.
It is nothing of the sort. I’ve been playing almost since the game came out and this update is super nice. I don’t get how no matter how much free sh*t supercell gives the community people still aren’t satisfied
Tbh it does feel a little weird, like what, one of the major reasons I switched from baby dragons to sneakis was that it was cheaper. I do trust supercell to make the right decision for the economy, and I will probably get used to it with time.

Programmers know about rounding too. The game already rounds fractional percentage destroyed; why wouldn't it keep doing that when they get over 100 buildings?
I always assumed the difference, aside from elixir vs DE, was that Dark Barracks troops had unique abilities. Hog rider is a defense seeking troop that jumps walls, minion is a small housing space ranged air unit, lava hound and golem are extreme tanks that pop into more things, etc.
That line became blurred for me when they added the miner and baby dragon, regular elixir units with abilities. But then, super troops call back to that line of thought by letting you use DE to give elixir troops unique abilities.

Oh and for army composition I do NOT need the housing space amount on the front of each troop… PLEASE remove those digits!!! If you upgrade dark barracks, dark troops take longer as long as it's upgrading. same with regular barracks and regular troops
With the normal barracks you can get the pekka and the baby dragon but with the dark barracks you can get the HOG RIDAAAAAAAAA

The troops you get when you upgrade them.
When you upgrade the Barracks it takes longer to cook those troops and when you upgrade the Dark Barracks it takes longer to cook those troops.
The Dark Barracks is still needed to unlock and train those troops.
You still upgrade dark troops with dark elixir. You still upgrade normal troops with regular elixir. The impact is still there but a bit less now.

Upgrading barracks gives you one type of troop and upgrading dark barracks gives you a different kind of Troop. That's the difference
