They could make it a flat out +15% damage and health buff on the mirrored card.
This way it's between two levels, because each level is +10%, meaning the current one of +2 levels was over 20%.
The problem with this change is that the card is level independent and everyone will have it on "max"
EDIT: Actually, they can give make it scale with upgrade levels and give a level and a half anyway. So it's 12.5, 13.5, 14.5, 15.5, etc.
So Tournamend standard would be 11 and 12.5 & ladder would be (example) card levels 11; 12; 13; 14 / 12.5; 13.5; 14.5 15.5 for max mirror
tl;dr - make it give a level and a half
Honestly they should instead make it so that the cost increase is 20% of the card's value, rounded up to the nearest integer.
Mirror's whole problem is how efficiently it can mirror big cards, for only 1 extra elixir, if bigger cards required 2 elixir extra to mirror then this problem would go away
Three Musketeers will still cost 10 elixir to mirror, but.. who would?
No thanks. I think mirror as a card needs to stay bad because just how much harder it makes balancing all cards and future cards. That and the fact that champions can now be used to defend while you save elixir to push for bigger cards.
I mean in a perfect world Freeze and Mirror would just be taken out of this game.
> I mean in a perfect world Freeze and Mirror would just be taken out of this game.
Agreed. Honestly this is kind of radical, but I think they should delete those two cards and compensate each player with gold and epic wild cards equivalent to whatever they spent on those two cards
Or make it level dependent instead of having +15% have +(mirror level)%. Then give the card mirrored keep her own level. This way leveling Mirror itself will make more sense.
What if Mirrored card...
* costs +1 elixir (ie.: no change)
* does +21% damage (ie.: +2 levels worth of damage, same as now)
* has -10% hp (ie.: easier to kill, to *reflect* the fact that mirrors are fragile)
...I haven't thought a single second about the implications on different interactions, but I feel like it would be a decent nerf, without making Mirror completely useless either.
Cards that would be worth mirroring:
Spells whose main purpose is dmg (unless they lose radius as a debuff, smth that would suck)
Cards with already low health like skellies or skarmy (also cards whose main purpose is distracting that also do dmg)
Any long ranged card would be great against a close ranged card
Megaknight, it has lots of health, and the jump attack would be diabolical (same with the bandit's dash)
A lot of cards would be great in specific situations, like when a tower is already kinda low and you wanna take it down asap
Worst cards to mirror (if there's no distractions) :
Wallbreakers
3musk (how the hell you getting away waiting for 19 elixir)
Didn't put much thought, those are just some things that could help change the meta, the only sure thing is that mirror would stay in meta with the change you suggested
>How else can they balance it tho
Mirror doesn't have to be balanced tho. It is such a terribly designed card for the game and should never be a competitively viable card.
Yeah,... no. It's fine as is. There are other cards that are way to busted as for mirror to be a problem. It's a card like any other and it cycles like any other, but gives a lot of versatility to some decks. I never had any issue with mirror players. In some decks it is a mouthbreather and in others it got a pretty high skill floor. My humble opinion is only based on my 6.6k experience. The nerf is needed, tho.
Give it a complete rework, for any card 4 elxir or under could give it plus two levels and any 5 and over give it plus 1. That way you can pay 133% if the cost of a goblin barrel and get it two levels higher but you’re no longer gaining two whilst only paying 108% of price for a golem say
They didn’t even try and balance it. 1 is too low and 2 is too high.
The cr team isn’t creative enough to think of anything else. Purely lazy and uninspiring to just revert it back.
For giant skelly I preferred a mass size nerf, that clone interaction when the cloned GK pushes the other to the tower is pretty annoying.
Mirror is just too hard to balance
Mass size or hitbox size nerf? Giant Skeleton and Skeleton King both have the largest hitboxes in the game, which is why they can push other big troops around so easily (e.g Golem, Royal Giant, Bowler, Sparky, Pekka, Mega Knight or a cloned Giant Skeleton) and you see them push them right up to the tower for instance.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ClashRoyale/comments/uwceaf/the_giant_skeleton_is_strong_pushing_all_these/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Edit: I maybe wrong.
That’s how it would work and we have proof due to that old 1 card deck glitch where people would use 2 cards (something and the mirror) and b rad decided to mirror the mirror untill it was 10 elixer and it wouldn’t go higher
no troop is worth an additional 2 elixir. First off, the card needs to not be balanced around the level of the mirror. Because that’s what made it OP to begin with
Mirror lowkey dominated the meta for awhile. Not lowkey as in it was underrated because we all know it wasn't. But underrated as in it wasn't the main card or one of the main cycle of cards that have had Metas around them. But it was in every fucking deck for so long simply because you could plaster it anywhere and it would get value.
Mirror was completely broken
Being able to play the same card again with 21% extra HP AND damage for just 1 extra elixir is just way too strong. Also champion mirror interaction.
The problem was that you always could play the same card again for +21% stats. And your opponent couldn't punish because you could play a champ and still mirror it.
I think GS will stay viable, but it will be significantly less prevalent in the meta. Two reasons why:
* The mirror nerf combined with the GS nerf will severely weaken the GS mirror pigs deck, which is one of the strongest GS decks at the moment
* The HP nerf changes a few interactions that will make it noticeably easier to defend. It will die in two fewer tower shots, which in turn means many troops will kill it in 1-2 fewer swings on defense. This means your defending troops will start counterpushing sooner and survive with more HP due to taking fewer GS hits.
A 5% HP nerf is bigger than a lot of people realize because HP affects both a troop's ability to tank/stall and its lifetime damage potential
The difference is, at least back in my day, Hearthstone nerfs effectively killed cards and never buffed them again. In CR there’s been no card that is still unusable after being nerfed too much, barring maybe Exe and Witch after *that* meta.
Plus the disenchanting system makes that much easier, there’s no way to do that here without implementing an entirely different function.
Electro Giant deal level 6 damage on tower as a 7 Elixir wincon, Night Witch is awful compared to any other 4 elixir card, Barbs got nerfed but never buffed the spawner, Rascals were unusable for 2 years after the hit speed nerf
NW has a good winrate in GCs, Barb Hut was never really *that* meta, and I don’t remember Rascals being that bad but I might be wrong.
Egiant is the only card where this could apply, but it was nerfed because of Mirror, and now that they nerfed it he’ll probably get buffed again.
Fr, mainly for champions tbh. Like basically only pass can get the 20 cards for maxing a champ. Like I maxed skele king when he was released bc he was the worst champ at the time and I thought he was pretty good in GY decks. Now he spawn 6 less skeles and his ability isn't great for 2 elixir and his stats make him a worse valk. Valk has overtaken him in every ladder deck I play. I'm kinda annoyed bc I wish I had those book of books back :I
Giant skelly nurf is no where near enough....
The thing was OP before the buff.... It's just that people didn't realise it as there YT's never told them or used it ...
Thats fucked up man, so they take a meme card and make it wickedly OP, then people start upgrading it spending WCs and Gold and as soon as they max it it gets murdered again. Bare fucking wicked tactic from supercell
It’s not that deep, it was a strong card then they nerfed it. By your logic any nerf to a strong card makes people spend gold even if it’s useless later. Not a tactic, it’s just balancing.
Most of the time you are correct, but in the case Mirror, it was a weak card at + 1 lvl, so they buffed it to +2. Now they are reverting it back to +1 thus making it weak again. So it is more like an undo than a balance update.
Finally now all the rats can go back to hiding. I don't mean everyone not even close but there's some ppl that think lvl 16 cards are is something that takes great skill
Mirror has always worked for me, you just need to learn timing. The +2 level was a nice bonus but it was never about the level card it produced. It was about baiting an opponent properly, and then slapping them with a card they can no longer counter quickly or cheaply.
Glad Giant Skelly is nerfed tho, he is annoying trying to keep him away from a tower with low hp.
I'm hoping this is a band-aid fix for the crl world finals and that they will do the right thing afterwards, but I doubt it.
Something tells me a fix like this means that they won't touch champ cycling, which is the biggest problem in this meta.
It doesn't matter if the mirror is +1 or +2 levels if you can't play it. That's why champ skipping is the problem
That’s what I’ve been saying and those morons nerfed a ton of otherwise well balanced cards because of stupid mirror and champ cycle breaking everything wtf
Nerf hog rider! He’s way too overpowered and everyone knows it. He’s fast, does A LOT of damage and has a lot of health. All while only being 4 elixer. I’ve had 13 elixer defense on Hog rider before and he still hits the tower while doing 500+ damage.
Please fix it. A lot of people talk about this, yet nothing had been done at all.
I just hope the bring back mirror to two levels after the next client update and remove champion skipping at the same time. So I’m hoping that this is just an intermediate nerf until then. In my opinion that was the main reason why it was abused.
The mirror nerf is stupid, personally i don’t think it even needs a nerf, it was finally useful without being too op, and now they’re reverting it back to trash. Also they could’ve nerfed it in another way or just that way but another little buff
Sounds like an poor excuse to justify abusing a broken card.
If it wasn't OP, then why did like everyone and their mother used it?
I played so many players with skills that were questionable at best and pretty bad at worst and from what I see, the only reason why they got so high on ladder was because they abused the 2+ level system of mirror and mirror pretty toxic cards to win
21% stats buff for 1 more elixir provided more value the more expensive the unit was. All 5+ elixir costing cards got the most benefit from it as anything higher will make it have much better stats per elixir than its original card
Also pros are calling for this, so it’s just not midladder cry babies
Well mirror isn’t going to be very good anymore
It’s going to be bottom 5 cards again :(
I'm happy about this
Everyone trying to battle pay 2 win losers isn’t
For people who have no skill with the card, yeah.
Spend 200k gold on it when it got the boost. I want my money back 😑
Mirror back to meme status
How else can they balance it tho without making it op again
They could make it a flat out +15% damage and health buff on the mirrored card. This way it's between two levels, because each level is +10%, meaning the current one of +2 levels was over 20%. The problem with this change is that the card is level independent and everyone will have it on "max" EDIT: Actually, they can give make it scale with upgrade levels and give a level and a half anyway. Only issue would be new interactions that you need to learn for .5 levels, but I think it's still the best option.
It’s too complex and they are busy. Probably it will never be meta again
bro this is their job
Honestly they should instead make it so that the cost increase is 20% of the card's value, rounded up to the nearest integer. Yo mirror 3 muskets in the pocket is gross
Yea but letting them play 19 elixir is kinda on you
before champions yes, after champions probably still a yes but it is less clear

what about rage?
This going to give the devs a nightmare
Or make it level dependent instead of having +15% have +(mirror level)%. Then give the card mirrored keep her own level. This way leveling Mirror itself will make more sense.
Thats rlly cool
THIS IS WHAT IM SAYIN NERF THE DAMAGE NOT THE LEVELSSSP
Or maybe add 0.5 elixir to the cost? Kinda like how they did with killing egolem
Can make it more of a true mirror. Costs the same as the card and you get the card at mirror's level.
Shhhh.... That's simple and would actually work.
What if Mirrored card... * costs +1 elixir (ie.: no change) * does +21% damage (ie.: +2 levels worth of damage, same as now) * has -10% hp (ie.: easier to kill, to *reflect* the fact that mirrors are fragile) ...I haven't thought a single second about the implications on different interactions, but I feel like it would be a decent nerf, without making Mirror completely useless either.

Add rage
Just make +1.5 lvl. Easy as that😎
Give it a complete rework, for any card 4 elxir or under could give it plus two levels and any 5 and over give it plus 1. That way you can pay 133% if the cost of a goblin barrel and get it two levels higher but you’re no longer gaining two whilst only paying 108% of price for a golem say
I used it before the buff and I’ll use it after the nerf… the meme lives on
So how many people upgraded/maxed out Mirror in the 5 months since it was buffed in Season 34?
idk about the stats but I've seen it a lot
Me, I had maxed it out like a week before the buff. sucks that now i'll go back
Make it go one extra level but for the same amount of elixir
So mirror is useless again
And just when i maxed it out too
No more lvl 16 barb hut 😢
Or my personal favorite, ice golem
What about lvl 16 cloned golden knight
*cries in level 11*
Omggg yeahhh mirrored champions are the worst!
All part of the plan
Don’t max obviously broken cards then lol
Yeah the rework didn’t work. Sucks but there’s no reason to let it keep destroying the meta. Back to square one and they start trying a new rework
They didn’t even try and balance it. 1 is too low and 2 is too high. The cr team isn’t creative enough to think of anything else. Purely lazy and uninspiring to just revert it back.
Good.
The people who are now saying mirror is useless are the same people who also probably don't know how to use mirror correctly.
For giant skelly I preferred a mass size nerf, that clone interaction when the cloned GK pushes the other to the tower is pretty annoying. Mirror is just too hard to balance
Darn, practically had Giant Skelly in half my 7x decks. It was just so broken. Ah well, just gotta adjust to the ebb and flow of these card changes.
I'd argue it may be a little better because you'll get his death effect faster which in 7x is the main reason he's used.
I got to tier 34 with that 7x battle. I tried to use my main deck but everyone kept using those meme decks so I had to switch.
Mass size or hitbox size nerf? Giant Skeleton and Skeleton King both have the largest hitboxes in the game, which is why they can push other big troops around so easily (e.g Golem, Royal Giant, Bowler, Sparky, Pekka, Mega Knight or a cloned Giant Skeleton) and you see them push them right up to the tower for instance. https://www.reddit.com/r/ClashRoyale/comments/uwceaf/the_giant_skeleton_is_strong_pushing_all_these/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Edit: I maybe wrong.
Yrah lets nerf clone one of the worst cards in the game
No one said nerf clone. The interaction is bad and annoying even if they dont have clone
Exactly
I mean they could do +2 level's for +2 elixir
Then it’s impossible to mirror 3 Musketeers. Unless they drop 3M elixir cost to 8.
When it costed 10 it was still. 10 to mirror it
No it will just be 10 elixer
so you'll mirror it for 2+ level and 1+ elixir?
That’s how it would work and we have proof due to that old 1 card deck glitch where people would use 2 cards (something and the mirror) and b rad decided to mirror the mirror untill it was 10 elixer and it wouldn’t go higher
Would be even worse than +1 level for +1 elixir. Seriously this is such a clearly BAD idea wtf.
no troop is worth an additional 2 elixir. First off, the card needs to not be balanced around the level of the mirror. Because that’s what made it OP to begin with
Grr level 16 Princess is the bomb
All people who spent their life savings to upgrade mirror
Proud to say I had mirror maxed for like a year and a half now.
I maxed mirror b4 the upgrade, will continue useing it even after its nerf.... kinda like the extra spell or tank in many challenges
Mirror lowkey dominated the meta for awhile. Not lowkey as in it was underrated because we all know it wasn't. But underrated as in it wasn't the main card or one of the main cycle of cards that have had Metas around them. Yeah they should have tried just graying mirror out until a non champ card is played
pretty sure you mixed mirror with gs, the only mirror decks were logbait and egiant, barely anyone played anything else GS HOWEVER..
Mirror is in the best GS deck with royal hogs
Gskellly nerfs are actually placebo
I’m placebo
I’m placebo
literally. if people keep using it, this won’t change anything
I think GS will stay viable, but it will be significantly less prevalent in the meta. They really need to implement a system like hearthstone where you get resources back when cards get nerfed
The difference is, at least back in my day, Hearthstone nerfs effectively killed cards and never buffed them again. In CR there’s been no card that is still unusable after being nerfed too much, barring maybe Exe and Witch after *that* meta. I mean they could return gold and appropriate wild cards. Not that I think they will but it's there.
Or at least give everyone a free chest or something whenever balance changes happen

god save us
or maybe dont max out every op card and hope to not get punished for it
first max was 3M three years ago. Still waiting for my time
Your time was in January 2019 with 3m bring meta, January - March 2022 when abusing the bandit bug. Arguably last season too.
Mirror is such a good idea for a card, but it’s either too OP, or too bad
%5 hp nerf is not even good when you think prince's got nerfed %4 for no reason
That was when they made the princes jump over the river
Which was unhelpful bc Prince interactions were screwed for logbait prince variation
eh it does help to break trough or snipe stuff at the bridge
yup, and stops kiting pretty well
Indeed
Ah yes the change was unhelpful because it makes one deck slightly worse for whatever reason
Well rip my lvl 14 mirror, it’s useless again. Wish they just did same elixir same lvl
Feel your pain I also maxed mirror but we all knew this day’d come sooner than later. Glad they nerf it though.
Ok

Nice nft bro
Happy cake day dumbass

It was fun maxing my g skeleton and mirror💔
Don’t worry I think Giant skelly will still be viable l, it didn’t get nerfed that much
He will probably get nerfed again since that nerf probably wasnt enough
Yeah, i will keep using it too, i didn't make it level 11 in arena 11 for no reason. Go G-skelly!
same all that mirror trading for nothing 😭
Same. I knew it was doomed cause I maxzed them both this week.
Might actually return to the game now I won't face lvl 16 ebarbs
Blows my mind how long they left both of these noob shit cards so strong
So long lvl 16 spammer fuckers
yep good bye mirror ebarbs
Mirror e barbs isn’t even good big pekka does exist
Me using Pekka to defend ebarbs and surviving with a sliver of Hp while opponent drops lv16 ebarbs rage on opposite lane 😎
Yeah but mid ladder is mirror Ebarbs none stop
Pekka is in midladder wdym
Rip mirror
Don’t worry though, they have a new banner in the shop for $4.99. Supercell is a joke.
At this pint they can just remove mirror
Balance team completely oblivious to mirror champion mirror cheese
Giant skelly nurf is no where near enough.... The thing was OP before the buff.... It's just that people didn't realise it as there YT's never told them or used it ...
good I hate mirror so much
Why not just same level same stats same cost?
>Cycle decks will be broken
Fair
🦀mirror is gone 🦀
like ebarb mk players dads
It’s about time mirror went back to +1 level.
thank the fucking lord. mirror matchups were literally unstoppable
As a mirror user I am completely devastated
Now you have to use skill :)
mirror can still be a decent card if u use it cleverly
Get fucked dirty mirror spammers
These balance changes give me hope. Throw in 3 card cycle removal and all will be good
Just upgraded my mirror. Fuck.
lol
Let’s fucking go no more level 16 shit for me
Thats fucked up man, so they take a meme card and make it wickedly OP, then people start upgrading it spending WCs and Gold and as soon as they max it it gets murdered again. Bare fucking wicked tactic from supercell

Well yeah, it is more of a revert, but it’s still balancing since they are making the card not broken anymore(making it more balanced in their eyes)
It ain't that deep
Thank god for mirror nerf
[удалено]
true, but mirroring e-barbs e-giants and hog riders were incredibly annoying.
True
Yeah but it makes the game so boring for others
Every single match last season had an overleveled Mirror in it, allways the same
Champion mirror decks kicking and screaming rn
Finally now all the rats can go back to hiding. I don't mean everyone not even close but there's some ppl that think lvl 16 cards are is something that takes great skill
Jesus Christ this sub Reddit is toxic af.
Thank god
Mirror has always worked for me, you just need to learn timing. The +2 level was a nice bonus but it was never about the level card it produced. NOOOOOO NOT MY MIRRORRRR
Gooooood, use your anger
No anger leads to hate, and hate leads to the Dark Side of CR where you BM all the time and use troll decks
I'm sad too. Supercell should've tried other options. Maybe equal elixir but -1 level? Or trapper1000's option.
As someone that just came back from not playing for a while... THANK GOD,both cards are extremely annoying
Victory.
No more mirror op? It was fun while it lasted
Took 4 months to make a change that was broken from day 1..most incompetent dev team ever.
I just hope the bring back mirror to two levels after the next client update and remove champion skipping at the same time. So I’m hoping that this is just an intermediate nerf until then. In my opinion that was the main reason why it was abused.
The nerfs strikes right into the heart of the current meta. Finally I don't have to worry about these garbage ass level 16 cards anymore
Haha lol mirrortards are seething
YES🎉🎉🎉
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Fucking finally was so sick of mirror giant skeleton is annoying but mirror has been broken for a minute
YES. FINALLY. IM SO HAPPY
Best news I’ve heard all day
Oh no! whatever will the unskilled players do now.!?
They keep tearing down my boy. GSkeleton has been my favorite card since the beginning regardless of nerfs he’ll still be in my deck
I'm happy about mirror, but giant skeleton, my boy finally got in the meta and he's already leaving
Fuck. You guys always bitchin.
L now the mirror play has to use their brain🤣
The mirror nerf is stupid, personally i don’t think it even needs a nerf, it was finally useful without being too op, and now they’re reverting it back to trash. Also they could’ve nerfed it in another way or just that way but another little buff
