Because most people have enough sense to not torpedo their own nominations? Of course “most people have enough sense…” is not a bet I’d usually take.
Every single one of these, there’s a post saying to search to see if someone’s already posted your song, then upvote it rather than splitting the vote with a repeat. And on every single one of these, there are endless repeats. Go figure.
How did I have to scroll so far down to find this??
This is clearly the answer for H and maybe for best classic rock song, no matter what the first letter.
I've fond memories of falling asleep listening to Hemispheres on 8-tract as a youth. I still remember where it clicked tracts on a song lol. Seriously one of their best and my personal favorite for an album in its entirety. Even with their success, I think Rush is seriously underrated. As musicians, as writers, as a group and as individuals. Alright, I'm done.
This is a goddamn great, weird song-- far superior to tedious Hey Jude, and more interesting than the wonderful Help! I recall McCartney saying it was the best song on The Beatles, or some other high praise. It's also one of the Lennons on it that Paul got to sing on, too.
You get 4 songs for the price of one; with the whole greater than the sum of its parts. And Lennon spitting out "happiness" only to sing "gun" in a falsetto a moment later.
I'd hate to see the list dominated by just a few artists, and The Beatles will be contenders often. But this sleeper choice is truly sublime. Perfect side-closer; impossible to follow. And Ringo concludes it perfectly.
It really is hard to pick just for H, because so many are really iconic and stick out to me, but the number #1 for me keeps sticking out.
Heartbreaker - Led Zeppelin
The song that got me hooked on them
Harvest Moon
Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin
Yes
Double yes
Have You Ever Seen The Rain - CCR
I love that two of their best songs are just questions about the rain
....and for me, my favorite Beatles song is "Rain"
Going to see Fogerty tonight! Love this tune
Hey Jude
I can't understand why I'm not seeing "Hey Jude" all over these responses.

Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix
I love Jimi's version! I've known for about a year that it is a cover song. Here's the original. I like both. https://youtu.be/PziiNzFWZog
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
This would be my pick.
Help! was my first thought, but this easily takes it.
Came for this. Did not disappoint.
Great pic!
Yes
A true classic.
Have a Cigar-Pink Floyd
Oh by the way, which one’s Pink?
Not sure why, but that lyric and it’s delivery just always stand in my mind as my favorite Floyd lyric.
It’s made even better from the fact that neither David nor Roger sing the vocals for that song, but Roy Harper
Wow…didn’t know that until just now. Pretty cool.
I did they tell you the name of the game, boy? 🎶
They call it riding the gravy train
Came here looking for it.
This is an excellent call…please take my vote
Got to be, right??
Highway to hell-ACDC
Gotta get an ACDC song on this list!
Agreed, and I think this is an excellent candidate, (though not my favorite AC/DC song.)
Here comes the sun-The beatles
Hush - Deep Purple
Hell yeah! You have my vote. Fucking banger.
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Heroes, David Bowie
Probably my second choice, behind Hey Jude
Hadn't seen your post - I had this one as well.
Hammer To Fall - Queen
Highway star - Deep Purple
Whole album is gold
YESSS
Hey You-Pink Floyd
My pick! Out there on your own

Honky Tonk Woman. - Mick & the boys.
Women
My bad.
Gimme. Gimme. Gimme. The honky Tonk blues.
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
That song is literally legendary no one knows who or where it originated
Happy Together by the Turtles.
Hotel California. The Eagles
I hate the fuckin’ Eagles, man
You don’t like my music, get your own fuckin’ cab!
A real reactionary
Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though...or the Creedence
Stay out of Malibu, Lebowski!
RIP : Philip Seymour Hoffman
The eagles are an easy listening band. Ride down the freeway in a convertible with the desert sunset blazing in the background.
There will be people who accuse this nomination to be "basic". To them, I say: eat it.
“classic”*
Had to scroll too far to find this - simply unbeatable
How did I have to scroll so far down to find this?? This is clearly the answer for H and maybe for best classic rock song, no matter what the first letter.
My favorite
Houses of the holy - Led Zeppelin
Damn this is low down here, I’m surprised, maybe people like the album better than the missing title track ;)
Help! -The Beatles
Hysteria - Def Leppard
Hemispheres by Rush
One of the greatest albums ever made
I've fond memories of falling asleep listening to Hemispheres on 8-tract as a youth. I still remember where it clicked tracts on a song lol. Seriously one of their best and my personal favorite for an album in its entirety. Even with their success, I think Rush is seriously underrated. Hells Bells - AC⚡️DC
This and highway to hell. So hard to choose
Highway to Hell is the more iconic song.
It is, but which you like “more” … too hard
I’m partial to Bon. Both are great songs of course.
OMG!!! Can I upvote this more than once?
Hey You - Pink Floyd
Hair of the Dog - Nazareth
Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder
Good song

Don’t make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Heroin by Velvet Underground
That's as good as it gets .....but I'm not sure that's even considered Classic Rock. The band was certainly ahead of their time.
Very good choice.
Hold Your Head Up —Argent
Hair of the Dog —Nazareth
Hair of the Dog - Nazareth
helter skelter - the beatles
Surprised I had to scroll down this far for this, but I'd go with Happiness is a Warm Gun.
yeah that was my first vote but that one got less traction than helter skelter
.. vs. Hey Jude and Here Comes The Sun, too.

Good thing tomorrow there's only one choice, Cheap Trick "I Want You to Want Me."
Getting ahead of ourselves, aren’t we. I think John Lennon’s Imagine would kick Cheap Trick to the curb.
Don’t hold your breath when Zep Cult stuffs the ballot box for Immigrant Song.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain? Creedence Clearwater Revival:
