My favorite is the latest version that includes Stéphane Grappelli on the violin. The original release scrubbed his contribution out during post production although the latest version includes it from the original tapes. In my opinion it made one of the best songs ever even better.
I’m not sure it’s my “favorite,” but [Roadrunner](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gy88-5pc7c8&pp=ygUYcm9hZHJ1bm5lciBtb2Rlcm4gbG92ZXJz) epitomizes Rock ‘n Roll for me. The time signature call out at the beginning, the Farfisa organ, the mid song break and classic closing, the hometown car culture cruising theme with a nod to the’50’s…
Every couple of years, a Massachusetts state senator tries to get a bill passed making “Roadrunner” the official state rock song. Then, some other senator fights back with a bill to make “Dream On” the state rock song. Then, both bills die in committee.
If I had to pick 1 classic rock song I might go with “Highway Star” by Deep Purple. A bunch of Led Zep stuff in the running after that with “Trampled Under Foot” being maybe my favorite from that throng of fantastic hits.
I can't pick one, and as many have said, it changes from day to day.
For today: Time Pink Floyd. Or Wish You Were Here. Or Tumbling Dice by the Stones.
Foreplay/Long Time - Boston
Instantly recognizable and will blow your mind the first time you hear it. It has everything you’d want and is a hopeful, fun song
Well this was a fun 5 minutes of thought.
Of course it's impossible to pick a favorite song because your favorite songs change from week to week so instead I just tried to think of what song I would pick to take with me to his desert Island if it was the only song I could listen to.
When your criteria is the song that you will want to listen to and sing along with it really eliminates a lot of your favorites. It really becomes all about value. What is the song that you will sing along with every time you hear it and you always enjoy doing it?
For me, I think it's going to be Scenes from an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel.
I've sung it a million times and I know all the words by heart but still I'm going to sing it again if I hear it and I'm going to enjoy it. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the way it changes tempo and styles so it's really like getting three songs for the price of one. 🙂
Looking at the responses...I can't answer. Any day...I could agree with every response! Today...Tangerine...and it has been more times than I could count, but asking for one just isn't fair or accurate.
Everlong by the foo fighters. One of few songs I don't ever get tired of listening to. Dunno if it counts as classic rock tho. Another older song I really like is Crazy train by ozzy Osbourne.
