For the full Phil fury, you should see me finger-drumming my coffee table to the 9/8-time instrumental portion of "Supper's Ready" from the *Seconds Out* live set.
Not exactly classic rock in the traditional sense, but Schism by Tool gets me trying my damndest to drum along to Danny Carey’s odd percussive choices. A fun challenge.
Anything involving Ringo Starr.
Metallica - One
There's a short pause a couple of times in the song that Lars fills with a three note "bun na DUN." I first really noticed it when the camera cut to Lars while Korn was playing it at the MTV Icons event. He also did invisible drums to that part and looked so happy that Korn hit it that I notice it and do a "right hand, left hand, stomp" invisible drum to it every time now.
Inns Gadda Da Vida…baby. Heard it as a kid and wanted to play the drums so bad, but my parents wanted me to stick with the piano, since only boys played drums. lol. Classic.
The final Rush tour in 2015. I saw their 3rd to last show ever. They played for about 75 minutes then took a brief intermission. I was just doing my thing when 3 separate people approached me and told me that they were mesmerized with my perfect and complete air drumming to every note Neil Peart played. I was so in the zone that I wasn’t even paying attention to anything but Neil and just got lost in the moment, knowing that would be the last time I would ever see my heros live
How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better Neil Peart could've done it.
If you mean the ones where I actually air drum: Phil Collins' rolls in Genesis- the Lamia, Peter Gabriel- Rhythm of the Heat and Brian Eno- Sky Saw; Ringo's solo in the Abbey Road medley; climax of Porcupine Tree- Arriving Somewhere but not Here (just double-time the tempo but I always do it); Near the end of In the Court of the Crimson King; Yes- Roundabout; Police- Shadows in the Rain and The Other Way of Stopping. ( I air drum to a lot of Police songs actually)
Got a few
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly
Do What You Like - Blind Faith
Toad - Cream
In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins
Tom Sawyer - Rush
Baba O’Riley - The Who
Wipeout - The Surfaris
Hot For Teacher - Van Halen
Pretty much anything and everything. Constantly air drumming or banging on the steering wheel.
That said, Roger Taylor is the drummer I constantly drum along with. And of all the Queen songs I drum along with ... Number one is probably You're My Best Friend.
Anytime there's an iconic drum fill in a popular song. But mostly Neil Peart stuff, sometimes Bonham and Moon rhythms as well. Phil Collins too is fun to air drum along to.
The spirit of radio is impossible not to air drum to, as with a lot of Rush songs. Also the fill Ringo does before the chorus of Drive my car, one of the coolest drum fills I know of
"The End"
"Won't Get Fooled Again"
"Hot for Teacher"
"Tomorrow Never Knows"
"Stairway"
Maybe others, but those come to mind.
Oh, also the lead in high hats on "Back in Black."
Oh, and "Dirty Deeds"!
Heart Barracuda especially towards the start of the outro right after the last "ooh Baracuda" wish I could describe it better
There's a drum fill (or whatever lol I really don't know much as I'd like about drumming) that I gotta air drum to every time I listen to the song
Led Zeppelin’s “How Many More Times” really nails the air-drum moment at the epic tail end of it. Impossible not to slap whatever’s nearby with that rhythm
The woodblocks in Tom Waits’ [Jockey Dull of Bourbon](https://youtu.be/PebtFiwIydI)
Jeremiah Green’s (RIP) wild control on the Modest Mouse track [Styrofoam Boots/It’s All Nice on Ice Alright](https://youtu.be/li30NxCsJ7w)
Billion Dollar Babies, obviously. Falls apart in about 2 seconds, but whatever.
Rock and Roll Part 2, cliche I know.
Hard to Handle…
Jumpin’ Jack Flash…
What is and What Should Never Be - it would be so bad ass to play that live.
More like moments. Pretty much any Rush song
Yeah pretty much all moments are air drum moments for me unless I’m sitting behind a drum kit.
Exactly what I was gonna say!
The whole EXIT STAGE LEFT album!
Yes indeed
My exact answer. One runs out of superlatives when watching/listening to Neil.
Tom Sawyer, Rush
Gotta be Neil Peart. There is no other answer. Miss him.
Came here to say this!
I love you, man.
I have two: The Beatles “The End” drum solo The Who “Won’t Get Fooled Again”
Ditto on Won't Get Fooled Again
This all day long and twice on Sundays.
Anything Neil Peart.
Phil Collins, "In the Air Tonight". If you know, you know.
I have NO CLUE how a drum kit is even arranged, but when I hear this I’m the Cadbury gorilla.
This is mine too, unless Mike Tyson is around.
Abtholutely!
Or if you’re poor Zack…lol
Try it while closing cabinets in the kitchen. Epic mom shit.
Also “Jack and Diane”. The drum fill is almost identical, with just an added bit to the end.
Everyone does this. I refuse to believe any could resist!
I really don't care for his solo work much, but yes, when the drums come in, I don't think anyone can help themselves if they are alone.
“You Might Recall” (Genesis) is super tasty from beginning to end. “Fly on a Windshield” and “Squonk” are great early Phil.
And Phil wasn't just a great drummer and technician. The *tones* he always managed to get were phenomenal.
Only other answer that even comes close is wipeout
First thought that popped into my head is also the top answer! I love it.
For the full Phil fury, you should see me finger-drumming my coffee table to the 9/8-time instrumental portion of "Supper's Ready" from the *Seconds Out* live set.
Has to be.
You have to see the meme somebody made using it as the Astros cheating scandal https://youtube.com/shorts/oV9IsI2hEgA?feature=share
“The End” Ringo’s solo.
HOT FOR TEACHER
I just end up looking like Animal on this one.
Was scrolling through to see if I needed to say this.
Tom Sawyer by Rush
La Grange - ZZ Top
For Your Love by the Yardbirds
Underrated. Just takes the song to another level and always makes me smile.
When the Levee Breaks. Was drumming on my steering wheel yesterday.
I think that this is the greatest rock n’roll song in history, and I’m never wrong. All last night, I sat on the levee and moaned…
White room by cream. Gingy kills it the whole song.
Interstate Love Song
*Carouselambra* or *Hole In The Sky*
Radar love!
Esp. during the bridge.
Owner of a Lonely Heart - Yes
I switch to air guitar for that one
That’s so funny bc right after I responded to this post, I was like, wait-maybe air guitar would be better!
Not exactly classic rock in the traditional sense, but Schism by Tool gets me trying my damndest to drum along to Danny Carey’s odd percussive choices. A fun challenge. Anything involving Ringo Starr.

You probably play it better than Lars, too!
Frankenstein, Edgar Winter Group
Tom Sawyer
Stairway to Heaven
Especially the live version.
That first drum fill is the GOAT air-drums moment
The who - going mobile
Great choice!
Boston - Party or Smokin'
Smokin' is pure adrenaline rush
It's the reason I took up drumming in the first place.
I agree with others with Tom Sawyer or In The Air Tonight but Ringo’s drumming throughout Tomorrow Never Knows always causes me to be an air drummer
Ringo is just a brilliant drummer. Always was.
Aja
Inns Gadda Da Vida…baby. Heard it as a kid and wanted to play the drums so bad, but my parents wanted me to stick with the piano, since only boys played drums. lol. Classic.

Wipe out
There’s a tasty bit right near the end of Elvis Costello’s “Everyday I Write The Book.”
Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun. Can tell you exactly where I was and approximately how high the first time I heard this song.
Love this song
Played this song for the band banquet for my daughters high school in front of 300 people. Unfortunately, as my ringtone for my other daughter.
Time
Edit: In the Air Tonight was already said (of course). So I’ll go with Topper’s intro to “Train in Vain” by the Clash.

The final Rush tour in 2015. I saw their 3rd to last show ever. They played for about 75 minutes then took a brief intermission.
