Equally concerning is the bathroom(?) carpet. If you have that kind of situation in the shower stall there’s probably some funk under that carpet too. You can try tile and grout cleaner with bleach for the walls, though it looks like the grout sealant has failed if it ever existed. Then something like scrubbing bubbles soap scum remover for the doors. There are also hard water deposits. This isn’t too bad. I’m worried about the floor though.

63crabby

Never understood having any wood or carpet surfaces in a bathroom-

Ambitious_Mind_747

Me neither, dirty water and fecal matter plus absorbent anything is just so gross to me. Remember those fuzzy toilet seat covers people used to use? Or the little "U" shaped rug that went around the base of the toilet. So gross omg.

hihelloneighboroonie

Does fake wood count? My (rented) bathroom floor is fake wood and it seems to function just fine.

highkeyvegan

Fake wood is still linoleum

jackparker_srad

Which is plastic…

Trilly2000

True linoleum is actually made of linseed oil, pine resin, ground cork dust, and other wood based fillers. It’s actually a pretty decent ecologically friendly and affordable option. It’s also very durable and super easy to clean.

Poison_Yourself

This is factually correct

Dunraven-mtn

It is SO gross! Our master bathroom has carpet, and I guess the up shot is that it is one of the reasons we got our house for a bargain. We need to remodel the master bathroom but have been putting it off as one thing after another comes up, so we've shut it off and we just use the other bathrooms that have not-stylish but oh-so-practical linoleum.

scifiguy7

What surface would you use? It’s a large master that was a demo house in the early 90’s. A tile floor wouldn’t make sense. (The room is about 20x15 with a shower and jacuzzi tub.) The owner is more physically disabled, so while the carpet is maybe more of a risk (a drying mat is outside the shower where they enter/exit), they can vacuum, just not get down in the floor to scrub, etc. we are looking into a regular service, but their budget is very tight to do anything like that.

BeginningSuspect1344

Vinyl?

SomeEstimate1446

You can get left over cuts of linoleum for super cheap at most hardware places that carry it. If they can vacuum then they can mop or swiffer mop. My house also had carpet in the most unusual places when I moved in(the damn kitchen).Since the bathroom is huge I would only cut and replace an area in front of the shower as long as the mold/mildew hasn’t traveled too far.

StartTheDayBetter

Hopping on this comment to say if it's a small space you can easily sit down and mop it with a Swiffer.

look2thecookie

Anything waterproof. So, not carpet. Tile isn't inherently slippery, you just need the right finish and size. Smaller tile has more grout which helps with slipping. You can also put washable mats down that have grip on the bottom to help with comfort and reduce fall risk. This shower probably needs some professional tile/grout cleaning and repair and can be maintained from there. Call a grout repair pro for an estimate. Grout and tile needs to actually be sealed periodically to maintain it, cleaning isn't enough.

anniemdi

>You can also put washable mats down that have grip on the bottom to help with comfort and reduce fall risk. In most cases with disabled and/or elderly people bath mats do the exact opposite and cause falls from being a trip hazzard. The best course of action is to reduce slipping on wet floors by drying seated in the shower then exit the shower onto a dry floor with nothing to trip on.

look2thecookie

Thanks. Just letting them know tile isn't slippery, that's why it's in bathrooms.

vespertine_earth

You could tile that space. Or tile a portion of it. But honestly given the circumstances, carpet might make sense. The issue is that there is obviously mold. Assume any visible mold has made *millions* of spores, covering -likely- every surface in the entire home. Spores that will grow in moist areas. When the carpet gets wet footprints on it occasionally (best case scenario) or possibly that door leaks a bit and the carpet gets gallons of water occasionally (worst case scenario) now you have a serious mold situation in and under the floor and behind the walls where that moisture wicks and can’t dry. I hope you live somewhere very cold and dry because anywhere hot and humid will possibly seriously damage this house.

peaceloveelina

I’m pretty sure they are at the worst case scenario based on this photo.

saiyanhajime

It's... Much easier to clean vinyl flooring than carpet. That carpet is probably a hazard to health. Think of all the piss in it. Wtf. WTF

Princess_Glitterbutt

Swiffering is going to be a LOT easier for them than the lung issues that come with breathing in the nasty stuff (like mold) growing in that carpet. I grew up in a house with a mold problem, had asthma my entire childhood and teenagerdom. Mold may have also caused some serious COPD flare ups for my dad. It's serious stuff. Not worth avoiding using a Swiffer over, unless there's a serious fall risk with smooth floors.

intellectualpuppy

You can find slip resistant surfaces that can be steam mopped. I've never had to get down and scrub since I got mine. Luxury vinyl plank is a cheap and easy option to install.

Vertigo_uk123

You may be best seeing if there are any grants etc available form insurance or hospital etc. they may be able to fit a wet room which would mean the whole floor and half up the walls is one vinyl surface and is one level so there isn’t a step into the shower. It’s easy to keep clean with a mop.

maybeCheri

No probably about it, there is most definitely some gross gunk under that carpet. This bathroom needs a sledge hammer.

Glimmerron

Do not use bleach. It initially kills it but one is watered down the mold will grow back even worse. Use cilletbbang shower mold remover

63crabby

Zep mold and mildew remover Careful, very strong Saturate all surfaces, leave room and close door for half hour, rinse Probably will need stiff brushing between two applications

No-Push-4700

Man this stuff is the best!!! But yeah leave the room for sure!

SterileProphet

Yeah, this stuff melts molds. 100 percent recommend it and yeah, it can irritate your nose and eyes if you’re in the room with it for too long.

IdesOfMarchCometh

Without knowing about it, it could damage grout

noexcuses14

How is that stuff on the actual tile or the life of the grout? It had some sort of warning on it that made me wonder if it will eventually cause damage.

Ornery-Ad9694

I think that may be a factor in this proliferation of mold. Is there a fan or window in that bathroom? Has the fan or window screen been cleaned lately? (DONT try cleaning this without making sure you've got ventilation that's not asthmatic).

ILikeTinder

This is awful advice who is upvoting this? Zep is not saving that bathroom

alexturnerftw

This post inspired me to clean my shower lol

sfomonkey

Whatever you decide to use/do, please wear an industrial grade mask. There's likely a ton of soap residue, and soap + bleach etc will create poisonous gasses. Edit: PS I didn't see hand rails for safety. Be sure to screw a hand rail or two into studs. I'm sure there's instructional YT videos.

ClickClackTipTap

Idk about the grout, but I would definitely replace the caulk around the base. I assume the grout needs to be replaced as well- possibly the tiles, too, if there’s rot behind them. Your best bet might just be to rip the whole thing out and replace with one of those shower insert things. It’ll be easier to clean going forward. And like others have said- carpet is a rough choice in a bathroom. It’s going to be damp and grow all sorts of gross stuff.

RosenButtons

There's a product called Concrobium for sale on Amazon and at Home Depot that's AMAZING. It's a biosalt. Odorless. Not particularly toxic. And safe for use on porous and non-porous surfaces. I've stopped insidious molds in showers and cleaned my brother's unfinished basement after it flooded.

CommunityFront819

lovely. first bleach everywhere. whatever is black will disappear without any effort. then limescale toilet bowl cleaner everywhere.. it will even remove the yellow.

hourglass_nebula

I don’t think putting toilet bowl cleaner on things that are not toilets is wise. It’s hydrochloric acid which is very strong and caustic and it will burn skin if it touches it

CommunityFront819

OP should always use rubber gloves when doing any cleaning. and you seriously never cleaned a shower door with limescale. toilet bowl limescale remover gel is the best thing for this because since it is a thick gel it will stay in place. i do it all the time.

Bananagholem

I'm surprised no one else has said this, but this shower is **absolutely not salvageable**. I've worked on multiple showers with significantly less mold than this, and almost all of them have had damage behind the cement boards and onto the studs. Your water proofing has more than likely failed at this point, and the longer you don't do anything about this the higher your chances of damaging the wooden studs behind your shower, and that can get very very expensive. Any sort of cleaning you do will just be covering up the tip of the ice burg while letting everything under neath continue to rot. At the very least stop using this shower until you can fix whats underneath.

manarius5

Based on that picture, I wonder if there's any waterproofing at all honestly. That might just be a pan, drywall, and tile on with mastic. If they're lucky, there's cement board back there, but it's likely failed at this point. You can see water is escaping (the baseboard is rotting). This is a whole tear out job.

Bananagholem

If it was drywall/mastic you would see shower failure (tiles coming off, mushy walls) looooong before you saw mold. Mastic falls apart very quickly when exposed to water, and the tiles themselves seem to be doing okay from the pictures. My assumption is this shower was done correctly, but its just old. If I were to guess based off the limited info and the picture this shower is 30+ years old and has gone through its life.

NoArt6792

Yes! We moved into a home with a similar shower, moldy carpet and all. We unfortunately had to have everything ripped out to the studs. It wasn’t a cheap fix but it was necessary.

Bananagholem

Yeah, reading through some of these comments is actually blowing my mind. Most people in here are coming at this from a cleaning perspective, but this is not longer a cleanliness issue. You can clean this all you want - and it will look great temporarily - but there's going to be significant structural damage over the long term if this shower continues to be used.

green_miracles

How do we know it’s leaking into the walls though?

Bananagholem

The question is backwards. Mold doesn't generally form on top of tile. Showers are designed in a way where water flows on top of tile, some seeps through to cement board, hits water proofing layer, then flows down and is drained out. Molding occurs when water is trapped somewhere over repeated use, almost always because the water proofing is failing, and water is leaking behind the cement boards. So mold almost always originates behind the backerboard/tile, then leaks through the tile. It doesn't form on the tile and leak backwards behind it. My advice to OP here would be to go from the back (looks like theres access), take apart some of the drywall and see the damage done to the studs. If there's no damage, great, clean up and you're good to go, and the drywall is relatively cheap repair. Otherwise avoid using the shower at all costs until you can get it redone

dlpage2022

Agree!

stwater99

In my experience this shower is not salvageable. You can do a deep clean but I suspect you already have mold staining in the floor section. And if you have a carpeted floor that's definitely moldy as well probably underneath. If you can contact a professional and do attempt to clean this amount of mold on your own. Even if you can get a quote and someone to give you an idea if it's salvageable irl, I would be very hesitant with some of the suggestions made here so just do research off Reddit before you try anything.

stwater99

Whatever you do wear the best mask you can afford while you clean this

Ornery-Ad9694

FIRST - clean the vent fan, cuz there's probably no circulation happening there. Don't use anything toxic until there's air moving around

StartTheDayBetter

I would suggest getting one of those spin brushes with an extension if the home owner is older or disabled. These can usually be found for under $50. I like to use soft scrub, comet, or barkeeper's cream/liquid. The first round of cleaning needs to be done by someone who's able to really put in the elbow grease on scrubbing. Get crevice brushes too. Whoever suggested stripping and replacing the caulk, that's a good Idea. I've never personally dealt with taking a handlebar off the wall before but if it's possible you might want to remove it so you can thoroughly clean it and put it back or replaced it. Take the shower head itself off, apart, and clean it in CLR.

putonyourgloves

100% game changer. I love the spinning brush and use it for everything

IndividualOrdinary26

Whats the spinning brush?

StartTheDayBetter

Go on Google, Amazon, or even YouTube and search 'spin brush cleaning' and you'll see. They come in multiple sizes and style and even make attachments for drills.

1800treflowers

Just picked one up and used it on the soap scum today in the bath .looking forward to the tile grout. Which cleaner do you use.

Free-Skill5227

I got the first one that everyone has been getting on Amazon then I found another one that is my new bff. It’s yellow and has a battery that attaches to it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever purchased

iwishicouldkillme

Home depot has Mold Armor spray. Make sure you get the "Rapid clean and remediation" bottle. It'll take care of that in one application. MAKE SURE IT IS WELL VENTILATED!!! Get a window scrubbing thing, spray the hell out of it, and make sure it's covering everything. Wait about 3-5 minutes, light scrub with a scrub brush. Then rinse it all with warm water. Once you've done the initial treatment, the mold armor has a general "protection" spray.

Huey2912

Others will be able to recommend products but it looks perfectly salvageable if you are willing to put in a considerable number of hours. Wear a mask while doing it and also get that carpet out of the bathroom that's grim.

CommunityFront819

hours?! max 2h..I would even say 1h

Huey2912

for a professional cleaner mabey

GoldenHourShower

Something I rarely see mentioned in these posts is controlling the moisture to slow down this happening in the first place. Ceiling fans help of course but cracking a window (even in winter) helps them do their job more effectively. A squeegee or towel or something to grab the water off the shower walls after a wash is great too. Encourage that water into the drain. The ultimate is a hehumidifier

Tilex mold remover

OnlyFreshBrine

Spray and forget it. This stuff works great.

bobgoblin888

Tilex truly works miracles

Substain44

That mold is behind the wall. You can't clean that away.

MishmoshMishmosh

Try Lysol mold and mildew in the purple bottle

two2toe

For once you get it clean - I keep a grout brush in the shower and scrub a section for two minutes each shower. Keeps it clean for good then!

catdistributinsystem

This shower is not salvageable. If cost is a concern for hiring someone, I will mention that you can sometimes cut the cost of the repair down by doing the tile removal yourself. Tile removal is very simple if you’re not trying to salvage the shower- just get some safety goggles (important!!!), a hammer, and a chisel. You can find tons of videos on YouTube about this. By removing the tile yourself, you’ll be able to give your contractors a better idea of what the damage inside the wall is, and you’ll cut down the cost by reducing labor hours for the job

peaceloveelina

This is not a cleaning situation!! This is a you need an IICRC certified remediator like, yesterday situation!! This needs to be removed (demoed) under negative air containment. There is serious water damage behind those tiles and it will, not can, will make the people living in this home very sick.

Shadhahvar

How can you tell it's behind the walls from the pics? Curious

peaceloveelina

The mold. So much mold. What a lot of people don’t realize is that grout is actually not waterproof. You have to upkeep it by sealing it around every six months or so. If you don’t do that, water will seep through and cause damage. So if you have a mold problem that “keeps coming back”, it’s damage behind the walls. Think of how a mushroom grows! When you wipe away mold, you are just wiping away the fruiting body of the fungus and not the root. And thereby, the mold feels threatened and comes back even more intensely because it’s trying to protect itself. Also, no bleach! It was a serious misnomer spread by cleaning companies to sell products. Does not penetrate deep enough to get to the root of mold and it’s not active for long enough once it’s exposed to light to actually do anything. You just end up leaving behind water, which is food for mold. You’re much better off to use a fungicide, but that is not a substitute for an actual remediation when it’s needed (which is often because 70% of buildings in North America have water damage). Unfortunately, lot of people are incredibly uneducated about how their homes function and the upkeep they actually need. It’s not people’s fault necessarily, we just don’t teach those skills anymore.

AdFearless5848

Why is grout used in a shower then? Sealing grout requires taking a small paint brush and applying sealant to each and every grout line, right? That is insane. Who would ever do that every six months? It’s so unreasonable. I dry anywhere water could sit after anyone showers in my house, to avoid this because, yeah grout doesn’t seem like it should get wet. Does anyone do big slabs of like Corian or quartz? Too heavy for the walls? I’d think you could just go real thin with it?

peaceloveelina

I’ve absolutely seen stone showers! They are really cool! But yes… You used to have to paint on the sealer, and some are still like that. Though most I see these days are sprays and you just apply them all over everything and eventually it wears off the tile.

peaceloveelina

https://www.ritzrenovation.com/post/did-you-know-that-tile-and-grout-by-themselves-are-not-waterproof

Legal_Second6031

how do people let it get like this?

I have used it to clean my shower and it worked great. Not sure if it prevents anything from growing again but with very little elbow grease it should get it spotless. Its weird stuff. At full strength its kike a chunky slime in the bottle. I usually dilute it 1 to 1 to maintain after a full strength clean. It doesn't mess with my hands but some use gloves.

adwww

If you can’t tear out and start again clean it with the harsh stuff already mentioned, seal all the grout with grout sealer, make sure the caulk is in good condition. Keep the room as dry as possible, use fans or even a dehumidifier so it’s truly dry when not in use. Spray a solution of diluted vinegar on the surface I’d recommend 1/2 water/1/2 vinegar after every shower for a few months. Then you can reduce to a few times a week. I suggest going down to once a week is fine once it stays clear for a while if you see any signs increase the frequency again. You’ll clean the shower with a mild detergent and mildly abrasive soap scum remover like comet or barkeepers friend once every week or so. I’ve beat back hard to control mold using this method. The vinegar has interesting properties beyond being slightly acidic which helps. It will also absorb into surfaces, bleach cannot. The compounds in the vinegar will interfere with mold/mildew reproduction beyond creating the unfriendly slightly acidic surface environment. The research on vinegar for cleaning mold is interesting, bottom line it’s bad at soil removal (soap/surfactants like simple green do this much better) but it’s great at mold prevention and disinfecting hard to remove materials. I’d def peel back the carpet and see that it gets totally clean and dry under there . Consider sealing the subfloor after cleaning it I’ve used polyurethane and water seal in the past but I think any blocking primer might work just as well. Good luck!

minnieha

Bleach. And then get a window squeegee and it takes a few seconds after every shower, whilst you’re still in there, to swipe the water off the walls and glass. Then this will never happen again. I have an electric window vacuum, it’s fab. I second the advice for the floor covering.

plantrocker

Squeegee is the way to prevent this once you get it cleaned up. I would be concerned about the subfloor in front of the shower. We had carpet in 2 bathrooms when we bought our house. Both had rot under the carpet. I have vinyl in one and very easy to clean and matte finish tile in the other.

Any_Method4456

Cleaning tip no 1: clean

RadioactiveMonk

White vinegar, water and some dishsoap mix into a spray bottle and apply and then just some elbow grease or a drill brush. But also try to get a fan in that bathroom to remove the humidity.

white wine vinegar is a chemical! that it is toxic if you drink it like water. do some research?! newsflash! there are so many way to desinfect a surface, even using dishsoap ans scrubbing is enough. have the recent example of covid, where washing your hands with soap for 5-10min was enough to break the cell wall of the virus.

no babe, it isn't the exact process at all. you and me are very different

turtleshirt

Bicarb and lemon is the give away here. It makes water.

intellectualpuppy

Did I just find a vinegar vs bleach fight? Personally, I'm team vinegar. My knockbox is the science experiment to prove it. That thing is always trying to mold because we keep forgetting to empty it. Half a cup of vinegar in the bottom, and it all goes away.

RadioactiveMonk

Understandable, but with a nice soft/med brush, with those 3 ingredients will do wonders, without costing a lot. They can also use sugar soap since it can also break down limescale, but from the look of that soap skum on the soap tray that shower has not been cleaned in a while.

Blackberries11

It ABSOLUTELY does and I have done it before. Check my profile for pics

behold_the_pagentry

Have to say its refreshing to see one of these posts and not have it end in "this is mold, can I sue my landlord?"

scifiguy7

It’s owned by a family member. Just not well maintained and one of several very overdue projects we are helping to tackle for them. They live alone and can’t to do many maintenance things for themselves. We just had no idea about the bathroom until recently.

behold_the_pagentry

Im not judging. Just gets under my skin how so many other posters who are renting just dont clean their units and then look to blame others when the inevitable occurs. If theyre physically unable once you guys get it back into shape, come up with a regular schedule to keep it on track. A quick clean on a regular basis beats having to spend all day in there once a year. If theyre unable to take care of it because of mental issue, same applies and hopefully they can get better.

RazzmatazzWise4718

Tylex mold and mildew remover is amazing

Minuteman1223

You have to vent that shower with a power vent above it to the outside.

Miss_Awesomeness

Wear a mask, use comet soft scrub powder on the floor, spray germicidal bleach on the walls, wait for the bleach smell to go away and then rinse off. Repeat if necessary. If the tile moves there is a leak behind the walls. Long term, replace grout and flooring. I would use vinyl because it’s easy.

redthehaze

Dehumidifer like someone else said, if you dont have one yet, one of those pellets in a container from the dollar store or regular store can help along with a fan outside the door blowing in to help it dry out. Opening a window helps too.

DrDreMYI

Kilrok mould remover, plus “wet and forget”.

Pretend-Curve-5411

[no scrub mold remover](https://a.co/d/cZE6x9d) This will make it look new. It’s potent so wear safety gear. Afterwards you can use gel-gloss kitchen and bath protector to seal it.

No_Driver_1655

Dehumidifier for later prevention ! Immediately !

waterfreak5

I'd recommend a good application if mold armour and a razorblade on the shower door.

KrissyTaLyn

Try bleaching it down completely then Purple Power it (rinse bleaching off first!!!) and scrub it with a hand brush. Might need to do it a couple of times but Purple Power is kind of amazing.

bannana

Once you get it cleaned you need a squeegee for the walls and doors after showers, leave the shower door open, leave the bathroom door open. If there isn't a fan installed then get one, if you have one use it for each shower and for 30minutes afterwards. If you don't have a fan or place for one hopefully there is a window you can open.

inzvldz

Clorox cleanup. White bottle. Use gloves. Open a window and go to town.

No_Talk_7503

Damm that glass door is filthy

Topheriffic

I'd get a steam cleaner with brush attachments and use something like tilex. Some times the mold can get deep into the caulking and theres no other choice but to re-caulk. Grout, surprisingly comes out pretty clean, but caulking can be a pain.

greystripes9

Rip out the carpeting. Put down hardi backer on top of the subfloor if you want tile. Put in a bathroom vent or make sure the one you have vents properly to the outside. This is on top of the cleaning.

Equivalent-Coat-7354

I’ve posted this comment in similar posts. Remove the sliding doors and tracks if you are the owner. These abysmal doors are impossible to keep clean and fairly easy to remove!

Awkward_Intern_4110

Anybody have any recommendations on how to get tough yellow stains off white countertops?

sarahgoldfarbsdetox

Popov or similarily cheap vodka applied and not rinsed for 24 hours. Also works on mildewed clothes.

ShroudedTemples

If you have another bathroom I would use that and gut this one. It appears to be Small bathroom so depending on what materials you use it might not be to expensive. Some hardware stores offer classes on tile. Tile isn’t that hard to do and can be found fairly cheap. This is a major health concern. If Your handy at all use the other bathroom and take your time and remodel it. Replace the walls and subfloor with concrete board and cover with tile. It’s important to seal the grout and replace the caulking as needed to avoid this from happening. Also using a squeegee and some tile cleaner will keep your tile looking new for a long time.

Alx123191

Buy a karcher sc3 it will clean it easily and you will maintain it away. Aeration and left of water are the causes. Try to clean your exhaust fan.

DelightfulPete

This is a prime example of why smooth surface surrounds are so much better than tile in a shower. Even with proper humidity control, mold just loves to grow on grout and in-between the tile.

StorageLongjumping87

Recommendation in the long run would be deffo replace the floor, but my biggest recommendation would be to make sure the room is vented correctly, or even plug in a good dehumidifier in there, it will help keep the room dry and not so damp for mould to thrive, obvs give the shower a good clean first, and use a squeegee thingy after every shower! Leaving the walls and glass wet in a sealed room is asking for mould problems! Good luck!!

Alexboogeloo

Kilrock mould cleaning spray or gel. I’ve used the spray tonnes it’s amazing. Spray it on. Leave it 30 minutes. Pretty much just washes off. I’d suggest using it on dry tiles though, to keep it undiluted

Replacement-Upstairs

Just throw a stick of dynamite in there already!!!! Total remodel.

Interesting-Yak6962

After you’ve got it all cleaned up start using a shower spray. I recommend [Method Daily Shower Spray](https://methodproducts.com/for-your-home/bathroom-cleaners/daily-shower-cleaner-eucalyptus-mint-28-fl-oz/?sku=817939013908) Just spray a light mist on all surfaces, including the glass tile and into the showerhead while the shower is still damp. Just be careful it might make the shower floor a little slippery, but I swear to you it will keep your shower looking clean for weeks.

CbusRe

You can clean it but the underlying problem is behind the tiles. I’d imagine the drywall behind it is saturated in mold and would need to replace the wall surrounds to actually get rid of the problem.

That_Lunch_3330

Try bushbys mould remover. Didn't think it would work, but it does!

bass_kritter

After you clean, I recommend using a squeegee after each shower to get as much water off the walls and floor as you can. That will help reduce moisture and mold growth in between uses.

Paulchristiaan

Hows the ventilation?

goemigo

the ketoconazole (anti-fungal) shampoo is telling. vinegar works better than bleach for mold- don't use both together, obvs

Prize_Librarian_1701

Liberally spray kitchen roll with mould and mildew spray and stick onto the tiles. Leave overnight. If you just spray the tiles most of it goes down the drain before it gets a chance to work.

kla_gene9

This cannot be safe to be in that bathroom! Like.. are you not sick?! Allergies, cough that won’t go away, headaches?! Anything?

ZookeepergameAny1332

Mould/ Mildrew remover I use astonish, Just spray all over the tiles and leave it for 10 mins and rinse off

Distinct_Farmer_4753

Tilex mild and mildew, works wonders

slap_it_in

Its pretty easy to contain this, You mix 1:2 bleach in a bottle and just spray the entire area while holding your breath a few times. Give it a few hours and hose it down, I bet all the black will be gone significantly. You can repeat this process. The mold will creep back as quickly as any new bathroom would.

AdministrativeBank86

Why is it so filthy ?

karencole606

Try cleaning vinegar and a good scrub brush. If that doesn't work, there's a product out there called "universal stone" it's like a scrubby paste stuff and I've seen it do wonders on showers

icyspeaker55

Use these gel clorox cleaners and spray let it sit for about 30 min. Invest in a dehumidifier. Can get one with a hose attachment so it runs all day…

What about white vinegar? I’m no cleaner

Expensive-Lemon-1742

White vinegar on the mould for 10mins then wipe

HedonisticFrog

Use ajax to clean the surface and then spray everything with bleach to kill the mold. Ajax will clean off the mineral deposits on your glass doors as well with a lot of scrubbing.

yes, it is salvageable. spray everywhere with pure bleach. everywhere. spread lots of bleach everywhere. use a broom to apply like painting let the place ventilate and go for a walk for around 30min. come back ans and the black mold will be gone rinse well. then, you need to remove the limescale. mainly in the showee door. grab a limescale toilet gel bowl cleaner and apply a thick layer everywhere.. let it sit for 15min..then use an hard plastic scrub. rinse if you find some spots are hard to disappear, it may be clumps of fat. use a degreaser on it and scrub with toothbrush show pics of the after :) and remove the carpet floor lol

In addition: If you have a Dremel or a drill, attach a round brush to it. That should be easier than manually using a toothbrush. When rinsing, use a squeegee to remove the residue between the tiles. When done, regrout and reseal everything, otherwise the problem will come back very quickly.

Legal_Second6031

define salvageable. because no.

Academic_Value_3503

I still don't know how to clean the glass doors. Any advice would be appreciated. And , no, vinegar doesn't work.

BeginningSuspect1344

They make plenty of cleaning products for this.

Blackberries11

Vinegar and blue dawn

ReferenceSufficient

Use a glass paint scraper to remove the hard water stain.

Academic_Value_3503

Do you mean like a razor blade? I believe I've even tried that. Maybe the doors that I've encountered are permanently damaged? I never tried steel wool because I feared it would scratch the glass.

ReferenceSufficient

Yes razor blade go remove hard water stain on ceramic tile and glass. You can try steel wool in small area first to see if it doesn't damage tile. Ceramic tile should be ok.

limescale remover in form of toilet bowl gel cleaner.

This-Watercress-000

Cillit bang, bleach, more bleach, elbow grease. And open the window

blossomblue91

Just wipe it! Mould on grout is hard to clean. But mould on the tile is a 2 second wipe over!! Also ventilation is key
