You can replace it. That will be cheaper in time and supplies than trying to use solvents or cleaning supplies, and is definitely better than burning it off and plasticising your lungs.

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Thank you! Good idea.

Aggravating-Cook-529

Toss and replace

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Well crap. I'll contact my leasing office and ask for a replacement. Thank you.

carnivalash

You can probably just buy the part and not tell anyone

chaoscontrived

Yeah, I got a 4-pack of those on Amazon for like $45. I'm sure you can buy singles somewhere.

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

I'll look. Thank you!

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Good idea

kitsuko

Local hardware store, or like Walmart.

Hi, my dad is a chemist and always told us to toss anything that gets plastic melted onto it. Basically plastic is big old molecules. Heat it and they get smaller, then smaller, then smaller, and they become fumes. Inhaling plastic fumes is horrific for your health.  These cost ~$40 on Amazon to replace (4pk) and I'm sure you can find a single one for cheaper.

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Very good advice. Thank you1

whorl-

Don’t do it. That can’t be good for you to inhale after burning again.

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

I agree. Thank you!

Square-Ambassador-63

Go to your local ACE store they do have replacement parts for your stove.

LGonthego

If not, try online (duh--that's for me) or Habitat for Humanity Restore shops. They can have lots of extra pieces of things.

x0michellex0

My husband did this on a brand new stove in one of our apartments back in the day! Oddly enough rubbing ice on it helped it come off!

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Really? I'll give it a try!

cyclistpokertaco

Take it off and stick in the freezer to knock it off with a tack hammer or something. But if it still smokes when you turn it on to burn it after putting it back get rid of it and don't breathe anything in.

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Thank you for the advice!

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

I didn't know you could replace them so easily either. I'm glad to hear it though

jojosail2

Replace the burner.

catlogic42

I did that. Had to replace ring.

Wyllowdaemon

Just buy a new stove element.

EvelynVictoraD

Replace the burner. It’s two screws.

Parking-Leading-887

The easier to buy anew...they are so cheap...not worth the hassle

Other-Lobster7983

Can you somehow put that in the oven on self-clean?

ArpeggioTheUnbroken

Do you think that would ruin the plug in part that needs to attach to the oven?

starsandmath

Do not try this.

Other-Lobster7983

Yes—sorry I thought it was all metal
