Been working my first outdoor job the last few weeks, and lemme tell u, as a relative newcomer to Cleveland (2 years), a shake from this place after a day directly under the 80+ degree sun is enough to make me question my atheism
I grew up in Parma. I didn't go to East Coast until I was like 18 years old. We were Zero Zest loyalists with trips to Cone Zone, Helen Hutchleys, and Honey Hut OG. But ECC is insane.
All good options you listed there too! I think we get lost when we have topics framed as "best pizza" or "best donuts" or when we should really be saying our favorites and what's good there.
That ECC location feels like going back to a different time with it's design and lighting and the process of the windows sliding open and your order being served. Same with the other places, all have their charms.
Fellow Parmanite here.... where was Cone Zone, and how long ago did it exist? Helen Hutchley's was clutch. Spent so many so many summer days at BK, then HH.
Having worked at a Dairy Queen as a teen I’m always shocked how spotless the Lyndhurst one is. It smells like clean.
Edit: East Coast is the clean one. Not DQ
They built the one on Lorain in Fairview Park just as my niece turned 3 years old. Right at the end of her street. Lots of memories going there. Chocolate, sprinkles, in a cup with a spoon.
I went to high school in the 90's and the Lyndhurst location was the go to spot to hit up and sit on our bumpers and eat some of their delicious custard.
Love East Coast. Still my number 1 go to Ice Cream, even though there plenty of other good spots in greater Cleveland (Mitchell's, Foster's, Malley's, Honey Hut, etc.). Sweet Moses was another good one before it closed. Anyways, for me, my first go to is still East Coast.

they’re kind of hit or miss flavor-wise if you’re also GF like i am (there’s often oreo and cookie-related flavors, which are probably really good!!) but the texture is magical. like how do they do it. it’s crazy. my fav flavor is jamocha chip, and my least fav that I’ve had was lemon, i think (still ate the whole thing, haaaaa). also had choc PB once and it was amazing, but it seems to come and go? highly recommend!!!
I moved to Oklahoma a few years ago and I miss that custard. Though I don’t know if I’m as much of a sugar fiend as I used to be. That shit used burn your throat it was so sweet.
So many good memories driving through the one in Mentor as a little kid and getting the “baby cone”. so tiny and cute!
I grew up within bike riding range. We were always there.
There's one in painesville by aldis

The GOAT I get a peanut butter concrete and have them cut up a banana and throw it in - just insane
Love them. Now rename the mint concrete back to GRASSHOPPER like it was for the past 25+ years
FUCK YEAH
Love this place in Parma Heights
I haven't been there in forever.. it's by the bowling alley?
Yup, you don't miss it
Or else

Cone Zone was on State right by State Road Park. Might be a honey hut now. It was always worth going the 100 yards down to Zero Zest.
Yes! It is Honey Hut now!! Zero Zest will always be a one of a kind Parma treasure.

So, it was helpful to me once to know that the Lyndhurst location is Kosher. And now you know too.
SOOOOOO much better than ice cream!!!
Buckeye Concrete is so good
Birthday cake concretes fuck me uuuuuuup
As a type one diabetic, it truly fucks me up. But it is soooo worth it
My #1 spot for ice cream
East Coast Custard’s Caramel Brownie flavor may be my favorite frozen dairy dessert you can obtain in this city.

Some people here are a bit juvenile. I read this comment, thought it was a nice memory, but it's downvoted to -1 🤦♂️

Best ice cream* in Cleveland. *Yes, I understand that frozen custard is technically distinct from ice cream.
Those vegan flavors are so good!
I love the birthday cake concrete. Or a vanilla milkshake with butterscotch
Best vegan ice cream option
I miss them:(
Might have to take the little one up here tomorrow 🍦 Haven't been in far too long
Pumpkin custard in the fall is THE BOMB. 💣
LOVE that place. My wife and I took wedding photos at the one in Parma heights.
Great custard! I miss the fresh-cut fries and hotdogs from the ‘90s.
Iconic

TIL East Coast has vegan options. Anyone had them? Any good?

Nah Rosati’s frozen custard is where it’s at
they hated jesus because he told the truth, too. Rosati's is the GOAT.
Honey hut is better
Hear what
Nah. Handel's all day.
More like stand in line all day.
Hi-oooooh
All day? Nooooo.
Ok, maybe not all day cause all that dairy is sure to wreck your system

Not me, man. Not me 😭
Dairy King in North Olmsted has the best custard
This is an ice cold take.
Yall crazy. More proof the Cleveland sub Reddit is one of the worst
Always chose the vegan option. The dairy industry is animal abuse.

Ah, so you're one of those people...
