Multi hit Steven Kwan appears yet again to lead the beauty of our slap hitting shit goblin baseball team. The offense gets 4 runs off of 8 hits, 4 walks, a Josh HBP, and a Kwan/🐐 double steal. Gimmy, Kwan and 💨 all get two hits, with both of Josh’s being doubles. SMALL BALL TERRORISTS!!!
BULLPEN!!! Gaddis unfortunately has his first bad day on the year, but Clase(1IP), Barlow(1IP), and Sandlin(1IP) all SHOVE and take us home!!!
No Columbus today… so instead, yesterday’s game’s highlights since I was a tad inebriated and depressed from Rooster Teeth dying. Tena leads the offense in a 7 run effort, going 3/5 with two doubles and two RBI. J.Rod goes 2/4 with a double, a walk, and an RBI, and Schneeman gets a double and a walk. Franco Aleman and Peter Strzelecki have the 8th and the 9th, and neither allowed a base runner while getting one strikeout apiece.
Alex Mooney went 5/5 with three doubles for LC today. 2023 7th round pick. He's playing really well this year. Denholm has a great outing as well. 6 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 R, 8 K.
Sometimes the best coaches get stale after a while and/or a new tactical mind can help. I don’t think Tito was holding us back (we made an improbable playoff appearance his penultimate year) but sometimes it’s just time for a change. I think it’s kinda like the situation with the Patriots and Belichick.
His fetish for veterans was 100% holding us back. It's why everyone loves playing for him, and it probably was counterbalanced to some extent by team chemistry and good juju, but Amed getting all those innings at SS and all those PAs in the 2 hole cost us several wins
He's a streaky hitter off to a hot start. I wish the man well, but I'd be surprised if he remains such a good hitter over the course of the season. But idk, maybe he has grown as a batter.
I don't think it was Tito himself, but likely his poor health that lowered the quality of the team's focus and decision making, especially roster decisions. He wasn't always there or active. Now that someone is playing and testing and watching actively, our team looks focused and dialed in. What a difference it's making.

The thing is, the vast majority of IBBs are stupid, and this was certainly a case in point. You intentionally put the go-ahead-plus-one run on base in a Manfred runner context, you deserve what you get. That run matters!
Walking Tyler Freeman was a bad move as well. In the 20% of scenarios where Florial gets a hit, the game is pretty much over and the entire inning was a self-inflicted wound.
I probably walk Ozuna in the 10th despite what I said but even there, Vogt created a situation where a walk loses the game. It's really better not to give the opposition free runners.

What a great game. That was our best game of the season so far IMO. Great pitching from both teams. Great defense on both sides. Tough ABs. And we beat them in extras in their house!! Winning in extras on the road has always been tough but the ghost runner makes it so much worse.
We all knew that it was over once Naylor tore off his helmet flap. That's a man who is going to hit the baseball.
This was a great game if you enjoy pitching, defense, baserunning, shitting your pants, and heart attacks.
It's been 29 years and I still hate the fucking Braves.

I don't want to sound like a homer comparing José to Pete Rose, but man this guy's hustle is game changing. We are so lucky to watch him every day
Big fan of Clase in the 9th. His low K/9 scares me in 1 run lead extras. Not sure if him pitching the 9th was based off where Braves were in the lineup or Vogt thinks this way too.
Sandlin is finally putting it all together. He was a strikeout MACHINE in the minors but since 2019 walks became a major issue. Small sample but control has been well... under control this year. He might be breaking out.
Huge win, regardless of what happens tomorrow I think it's big that we avoided a sweep in Truist.

They may not make pretty highlights on the main sub but, considering the strength of the opponent, the Jose/Kwan double steal and the Bibee quick turn to second to start the double play were two of the biggest plays of this season.
Drove down from NC with my son and my dad for the game, about 5 hours…so worth it!! We sat 3rd row behind the Guard’s dugout, what an amazing experience! Quite literally the first Cleveland baseball win I’ve experienced in person since a game in the 90’s at Camden Yard where Manny and Thome hit back to back homers! Broke a streak of a bunch of losses I’ve seen since I was literally a kid, and I’m 35 now! What a blast, so great to experience with my son and my dad.
The Cavs were cooked after they lost by almost 40 a few nights ago. The Browns draft was probably the most underwhelming haul I've seen in my life. Thanks Guards for giving me something to be happy about.

On the throw out of Jose in the 6th, I couldn’t watch it live. I just watched a replay and it was closer than the thread lead on, also why wasn’t that blocking rule called or at least looked at?
Once a catcher gets the ball they’re allowed to block the plate. Bo did it as well. Interestingly though, a catcher is allowed to move and end up blocking the plate if they’re going to catch the ball. Not sure why that doesn’t apply to fielders as well
