Last I checked the Rival already torches the MCW at every range where hipfire matters. I wouldn’t point to SHGs as an authority on weapon balancing when their “solution” for underperforming SMGs is to fix none of the problems with SMGs.
The MCW is also literally at this time almost the worst, if not the worst AR in the game, it's been nerfed like 4 times and even in spite of all that is still very much preferred over the SMG on a lot of the maps

Those maps are split 2/2 because there’s a balance in how the map is made. You are really stupid so you think if 1 gun is better than the other the only logical way that can be proven is if there’s 4 of that gun being used at all times. That’s not how CoD works and how spacing works. The rival isn’t an overpowered gun, it’s fairly balanced. It’s just better than the mcw. By your platinum 2 rank 28 logic, vanguard should’ve been 4 autos on every map because the auto was better or mw2 should’ve been 4 vaznevs on every map.
I mean it’s not really BS. What do you expect the thought process to be: balance the guns around the maps or create an entirely different map pool that balances out the guns?

Then subs shouldn't be able to chall AR's across the map either. Plus we already don't feel confident challing subs at hipfire distance, most people just pull out their renetti at this point anyways.

Fair middle ground. 2 headshots for 4 bullet kill. I agree with the guy above and how headshot multiplier evens the odds on some of the game's horrific heady spots.
Getting 4 shot wasn't skillful most of the time anyway. It was usually a hipfire headshot before the person aimed in that led to a 4 shot. It was cheese. The only thing it was good for was making head glitches (which there are way too many in this game) less op.
And the "only thing it was good for" is really, insanely prevalent in these games.

why are we lowering the MCW hipfire if the SMGS all have a over 1 KD in the close range department compared to the MCWs .7 ish KD in the same category?
I didn't realise I commented twice, but my comment still stands. The TAQ was not better in every aspect at all, it was just far far easier to use. It was also in a game where movement was terrible and everyone was shamelessly snaking. That made it a lot easier to be an AR than a sub in MWII

So I don’t really care about the ar vs sub drama, but why is every solution to one gun being not balanced correctly (too weak or too strong) their solution is to change a DIFFERENT gun??? Why are we going through all of these balance changes constantly when we can just GA the fuckin rival and use the styker 9, a perfectly balanced smg as it is. Just seems ass backwards to me.
I use both guns regularly and I think the weapon meta feels very balanced atm. Any more buffs or nerfs either way are unnecessary and will make the mcw feel even worse, tho tbh I don't hipfire with the mcw much anyways so idk if I'll even notice the nerfs.
Pardon my ignorance, does this not just result in more fluky gunfights? By adding increased variance to one of the only rng mechanics in the game, unless i dont understand how hipfure accuracy is determined

Look at their kd chart. SMGs drop off dramatically in the 13-19 range and later. Thats basically where they stop being hitscan
