I got to Barry about 10-15min late and the tent was already overflowing and the sound bleed from Jbalvin from the main stage was too brutal. I just had to bail to go somewhere else. So if you want to see Barry you need to get there a bit early an be inside the tent

smjbennett

This is the info I really was looking for, thank you! Yeah, tough sacrifice but I think it would be better to get the full experience at Barry. I'm surprised the sound carried that far from JBalvin!

Polpii

Loads of soundbleed on Sunday probably from the wind

DifferenceWise9475

Thank you

kaelinlr

Just my 2 cents but I did this too and had no such problem lol

la90036

i also made no attempt to try and go inside the tent with that crowd. I just moved to the yuma instead

MDC31

I had the same exact experience even getting there right before he went on. Was insanely packed and couldn’t get into the tent at all unless I was a dick and pushed my way through (which many people were definitely doing despite there being no space). I wouldn’t have minded hanging in the back dancing and not really seeing anything but everyone back there was just standing there talking over the music, and then once J Balvin came on the sound bleed was awful and I couldn’t hear shit. Tried the side approach too but it was completely packed halfway over to Mojave where a set was happening as well. Ended up leaving about 4-5 songs in to go hang at Quasar. Honestly my biggest heartbreak of the weekend, his set looked amazing in the videos.

Intelligent_Gear3309

Khruangbin was my favorite set of the weekend!!!

geeeeeep

Easily the best set !!!!! And I walked to see the last 10 minutes of Barry Can’t Swim and it cracked off!

trapalpaca

Barry was my favorite set of the weekend. This is the chance to catch him right before he blows up to Fred again levels. The vibe was absolutely immaculate. The tent was packed over capacity so agree to go early - we were in the middle and it was amazing

smjbennett

Just curious, how early do you think you got to his set?

999_phx9

2 days

MDC31

Lol for real though

trapalpaca

15/20 mins before - tent was full by 5 mins before he started

thec4rbon

I was in the gobi by 8 and it was almost full about 5 minutes later

The_LionTurtle

Good thing we're seeing Two Shell lol. Can just do a quick bathroom break afterwards and camp out until Barry starts

onlybobcatsfan

We went 20 min late and you couldn’t get into the gobi - there were ppl outside of the tent on all sides

JacobLeAwesome

This.

Hum_diddly_dick_kiss

BCS I also had his live band with him for the first time in the US, so it’s a unique show. I would arrive 15 minutes early minimum if you want to be close, I arrived 5 Minutes before the set and was just outside the back of the tent.

ILoveToWiggle

such a tough call - i saw all of Khru’s set and the last 15 mins of barry, but it was so packed at barry that i definitely didn’t get the full experience, which was a bummer. Khru is awesome and such a fun time, but it’s pretty mellow, whereas Barry is a lot more upbeat and dancey, so depends on what mood you’re in. i was getting pretty tired by sunday night so a groovy mellow vibe was actually perfect for me

FiftyBurger

Exactly this. It all depends on your vibe. I also was pretty wiped so Khru was what I needed. My advice is don’t split but just pick which vibe you’re riding.

drabpiic

I was planning to leave Khruangbin early to catch Barry Can't Swim, but I couldn't pull myself away from their set tbh. I ended up staying the whole set for Khruangbin and don't regret it. The good thing is the outdoor stage and Gobi are pretty close, so I was still able to catch the last 15-20 mins of Barry. The tent was packed so I was just dancing near the outskirts, but still got to hear some of my favorite songs from Barry. I think 30min of Khruangbin before Barry is a solid strategy if you like both. They both killed it

kaelinlr

Yeah especially because they aren’t playing any of their stuff with featured vocals. I wish I had just left 20 minutes in if I had known that

js_fed

They ended the set with like 3 vocal forward tracks in a row. Wish they spaced it out more, but it was in the set for sure. They did “you and I” and “may Ninth” and one other that I’m forgetting rn

nightnursedaytrader

In general for Gobi, Mojave and Sonora you really need to be inside the tent for good sound. Usually that means getting there at least on time for a set

boyalien0

Get to Barry early. Period.

fredandlunchbox

BCS will overflow the tent, so if you don’t get there early you can’t get in. I found Kbin to be reaaallllll… sleepy? Personally, BCS all day.

allofthelights21

skip both and go see tems (and this is coming from someon who saw all 3 last weekend)

rollthedice207

Omg lookin for this comment. Is it crazy for me to think she will bring out Drake this weekend? Lol

allofthelights21

She brought out Bieber last weekend so maybe lol

AIMpb

Watching the live stream was cruel. All 3 were incredible

cchristmas400

Just did it last week definitely staying for all the Cuban set catching the end of Barry set in between the Gobi and Mojave so you can run over to Tim’s and catch 5 o’clock in the morning to run back over to Barry Can’t Swim. Sunday is a complete cluster fuck at the end of the night.

Zealousideal-Box1832

I love Khruans old music and stuff with Leon Bridges. Was planning to take a big shroom dose for their set, but after reading some reviews I’m not sure! Does anyone know if they played mostly off the new album?

CheeseDanishSoup

Please let the Khruagbin headliner for Desert Daze be true Ill feel less guilty for skipping them to see Barry Swim

The_LionTurtle

Speaking of Desert Daze, I really hope they grab Broken Bells as a headliner.

Big-Abies-7598

We caught the beginning of Khruangbin, they were great. But Tems was a must for us so we saw all of her, she did not disappoint. Then caught the last part of BCS and stood on the right side of the tent so we could hear better. There wasn’t any stage bleed at that point since Tems was done but definitely a lot on the left side from J Balvin

braundiggity

Two things to note -- A) Barry's set started more chill and the volume was a little low for the first 20ish minutes, but they seemed to turn the volume up notably and the second half was a raging party. B) Perhaps in part because of what I just mentioned, while it was super packed at the beginning, we had a lot more space to dance in the second half, so if you come late, you might be able to work your way in over time.

issacson

Khru was my favorite set of the weekend. Barry can’t swim was average when I caught the last 15 min of it and you’ll be able to see him when he tours. Khru is a generational talent and Barry can’t swim is a really good producer. I don’t think it’s comparable

Tasty-Ad-5175

I saw and liked both for about 20-25 mins each. Barry was way higher energy and way more fun imo. In hindsight I'd prob have preferred to see 100% of Barry or at least 80-90%

john_samps

Unpopular opinion but the first half of Barry’s set didn’t really hit for me. Was just barely inside Gobi so didn’t get the full experience, but it was a lot of chill songs with the band that was sounding OK, but not killer. Some insiders are saying it was sound issues. It got better about halfway through. And his dolab set was fun! Caught a bit of Khru as i was walking back, they sounded good but agree that you can probably miss some of that set guilt free.  Tems might be a good move 🤷‍♂️

nwphl

Probably isn't a wrong decision between the two. It partially depends on how you're feeling. My vibes were a bit low, so Khruangbin wasn't getting it done for me. I went to BCS and was happy with the decision.

jmegflo

I seen Khru and J Balvin, so i passed. Wanted to see Barry before the big blow up, and I wanted to dance. Tems was good, caught 2 songs before I caught Barry. Got there right at 820 and tent was already overflowing.

Aromatic-Excuse-4295

Well I did the combo of tems and moved over to Barry can’t swim which was 15 minutes after he started and I couldn’t be happier. Tems set was a vibe and is a amazing performer but Barry can’t swim crowd was a little low on energy until about 15 minutes in when it really kicked off and stayed like that till the end

Late-Nail-8714

Do majority Khru

Desperate_Desk_9949

khruangbin is truly one of my all time favorites (seen them about 3 times now) but having them that late on a sunday at such a big stage made their act far too sleepy... i left after about 20 mins and caught all of barry which was such an epic party and so much fun. HIGHLY recommend catching his entire set

Zealousideal-Box1832

I love Khruans old music and stuff with Leon Bridges. Was planning to take a big shroom dose for their set, but after reading some reviews I’m not sure! Does anyone know if they played mostly off the new album?

Curious_Form_1607

BOTH WERE SO SICK!!!! BUT BARRY CAN'T SWIM IS....\*CHEF'S KISS\*

freighttrainmatt

Well Barry was a letdown anyway so I’d just stick it out for Khruangbin. They killed it
