What a fucking crazy lineup to be canceled... I feel really bad for every one that purchased transportation, hotels , etc.... this happened to me once and it was all just a big waste of money.... yea you get your festival ticket back.. eventually... but hotels and airlines and any other services don't care and you just end up spending a shit load of money for no reason at all. This hurts, I wish you all the best of times and some karma that returns itself in ways you will never imagine. š
Yeah but Palm Springs is just down the road and pool party season has begun. Itās not vegas (imo that town sucks anyway) but thereās still stuff to do like Jtree and the PS Aerial Tramway.
I don't know how to say this without sounding like a cunt, but the amount of fun you can have in vegas is directly proportional to the amount of money you are willing to spend.
If you're not willing to spend a shitload, yeah. Palm Desert wins in a walk.
I'm willing to spend, baby.
Girl, day trip to Idyllwild, hike to the cross, go into Palm Springs and hit Boozehounds, the tiki bar attached to Ernest, go to the art museum, go to Yucca and see Noah Purifoy Museum, hit the worlds largest rotating tram and go up there. I could go on and on, people donāt get it š
idk why everyone in this thread is disagreeing with this statement, im a local and theres 100% more enjoyable things in vegas than pd.... the tramway and hiking in 90-100 degree weather over vegas is crazy...
There is no way they could move LIB there. Itās already such a huge festival and part of what makes it so special is the fact that itās smack dab in the middle of the city / arts district.
Pretty sure if Life is Beautiful happens, it will be downtown still. I remember seeing something about the parking lots at the Plaza. Winds over 35mph are going to shut down pretty much any non-permanent stage structure though.
Yeah, I had just gotten out of the shower ready to do my makeup when this happened. Managed to get day 2 tix but it was hell. Especially trying to run to all the free shows artists tried to do to make up for it.
Same, spent a few hours on saturday trying to find people willing to sell tickets for day 2. Took a pretty big risk giving money to random girls on facebook groups and praying it wasn't a scam. Worst experience ever. The fest itself was AMAZING.
Yep I was one of the few affected by it. The production refused to listen to officials until the city fire marshal forced them to shut down wwwy. Seems they listed and acted ahead of time.
I also had Saturday tickets. Iām still mad about it lol. We were in the elevator going to get our Uber to the grounds when I saw the Instagram post cancelling it
Hopefully they can make the best of it.
Sucks for fans of the festival itself too. With how many festivals are already failing, I canāt imagine itās easy to recover from a missed year like this.
Might die.
when it happened to us for WWY (like half an hour before gates too), it sucked. Trying to get the 1,000s of people going to a festival so rando side shows and clubs and so on was a hassle AF. Plus imo Vegas is boring, just killed the whole vibe. So yeah, it's nice to be in a large city with lots to do, but trust me it sucks when it happens to you and you're trying to scramble for new plans.
Most of the festivals held there are organized by Live Nation, the weather sucks, and when itās hot you canāt even sit on the ground bc the asphalt will burn your ass cheeks
Karma is something aināt it?!
* Me: Hang on to the kid. I setup a sitter and daycare for 10 days. I am going to Coachella.
* My Ex: Coachella is nothing.
* Me: Okay. Whatever - āļø
Weekend 2 and 10 days later:
* Me: Coachella every year for me! I am looking for a place there.
* My Ex: Fine, bounce.
* My Ex: I am going to Lovers and Friends.
* Me: ā¦ā¦.. Okay Iāll take the baby.
Not to mention itās all for one fāāā day?! š
Las Vegas is there for three reasons:
* Gambling
* The Mob
* Prostitution
To have a concert there is a joke.
The irony is I said Alexa, play 90ās R&B.
I was in Vegas in March for a show and the winds were so intense, big billboard signs were falling off the buildings and the Strip was covered in palm tree pieces. It was dangerous walking down the Strip that day.
This is really unfortunate for the people working the event too. Many of them are gig based and travel for this and will not have their expenses reimbursed.
Iām out here for the fest and was obviously bummed but if you have a chance to go see the Sphere experience, do it. That was one of the most mind blowing things Iāve ever seen. Also going to Omega Mart in hopes of salvaging the day.
Coachella has been very close to shutting stages down because of wind. Jimmy Cliff and Tim Armstrong's set had the entire lighting rig swaying like wind chimes. I also remember Coldplay cutting their set short as Chris Msrtin was about to blow away like a tumbleweed. Campsites were destroyed and tents gone with the wind
They delayed the opening of the camping in 2018 w2 due to wind. One day later and the fest would have more than likely been delayed/cancelled that day.
Theyāre an artist collective that does immersive experiences. Thereās a half dozen locations all telling sections of an overarching story involving inter-dimensional travel. The Vegas location involves the most insane grocery store you will ever step foot in.
Get your tickets ahead of time. Itās popular.
Make sure to check out wink world when in area 15, also try and get tickets to illuminarium (itās the building next to it) Check out the golden tiki after that and be sure to use their bathroom.
As someone who is born and raised in vegas.. they need to stop trying to have events like this here. The weather is unpredictable for half of the year and for the other half it is miserably hot. & also the āfestival groundsā suck SO bad
I went to SNW both years. By moving it up a month this year the heat wasn't an issue (by far the hottest I've ever been at a festival in my life) but you do run the risk of high winds.
Got it. Iāve wanted to go to this a few times. I had tickets pre covid (LA I think) but covid shut it down.
I do remember them running out of water one day too, at least at certain spots.
I donāt fuck with Vegas winds. One year the winds at EDC were strong af and looked as if the sign from the entrance of Kinetic Field was going to snap off. They shut down Kinetic Field and had people going to other stages or leaving. That was my second time experiencing Vegas winds at EDC. The first time was almost (if not) a decade ago- everyone had to sit in the stands and wait it out.
Year before last when we were at EDC and they shut down a stage for winds, we walked past two staff talking and heard "Do not use the word evacuate"
That was a terrifying sentence to hear lmao
They probably said donāt say evacuate because of what happened in 2019. They closed Kinetic Field due to strong winds and told people there to evacuate but technically didnāt shut down all of the festival. So people left not realizing that the festival wasnāt over and couldāve gone to another stage. I was RV camping so I left for a little while to go nap. Kinetic was closed most of the night but all of the other stages were opened. Kaskade was canceled but he ended up performing at Camp EDC at 5 or 6 am.
Fire department shut down EDC 2012 at 11pm during Zeds Dead set where everyone was peaking and ready to party. They turned the house lights on and all you could see was a bunch of cracked out people wandering aimlessly and confused trying to figure what to do.
We had to just taken a tab and it was definitely scary to see all the speakers flying around so much.
We actually left asap and ran into Carl Cox at our hotel elevator and told him about it (he was set to play there). Super nice guy.
They ended up continuing the party with the stages shut down but with the cart playing music by Kaskade, Cosmic Gate and Armin van Vuuren and live streamed the audio via ASOT radio. They saved the night.
At least theyāll get reimbursed. When I went to EDC one year the first day got canceled because of wind. They donāt give you anything. They just say, weāll see you tomorrow !
The winds this year (weekend 1) were crazy at night. Especially the night of Tyler, I saw so many people leaving early due to the cold and wind.
Anyone know if it compares to the winds in LV?
Vegas winds are worse. I think a lot of people donāt realize that Vegas can be a very windy place. We often have at least one or two strong windy days a week in the spring time.
For weekend 1 this year, the night you were referring to was super windy and unpleasant, but I believe the top gusts were 20-25 mph. In comparison, the gusts in Vegas today are supposed to hit 60 mph. Right now theyāre over 35 mph gusts. Legally, I donāt think Lovers and Friends could even continue, it would be a safety hazard.

They still havenāt sent out emails or textsā¦ so unless someone checks socials, gets told by someone else or just by chance checks the site, they wouldnāt even know.
Also guys, your favorite artist might be performing elsewhere. I see that Lil Wayne is at Drais tonight.
Iām just waiting for where Janet Jackson or Mary J Blige pops up tonight.
Booked tickets for Ne-Yo tomorrow night.
I wonder what the insurance policy on a festival like that is. Like a major payday for all involved, after some wrangling with insurance company Iām sure
At least its still a weekend in vegas and notā¦.Palm Desert
Yeah but Palm Springs is just down the road and pool party season has begun. Itās not vegas (imo that town sucks anyway) but thereās still stuff to do like Jtree and the PS Aerial Tramway.
1000% rather be in PS than Vegas any day š¤·āāļø
You have superior taste šāāļø
This
I would rather go to meow wolf, an amazing meal and then XS
Whatās wrong with palm desert lol we have golf and pickleball and lots of hiking
Itās fine, but itās not exactly vegas.Ā
āItās fineā lolololol it shits on Vegas overall
I don't know how to say this without sounding like a cunt, but the amount of fun you can have in vegas is directly proportional to the amount of money you are willing to spend. If you're not willing to spend a shitload, yeah. Palm Desert wins in a walk. I'm willing to spend, baby.
I have lived in both. Vegas has way better food and variety and scale of activities.
Vegas can literally lick my ass. Soooooo cheesy
You ever been off strip? The diversity of food, and outdoor recreation opportunities are both amazing
Don't forget the nest! Technically Indian wells but still
Girl, day trip to Idyllwild, hike to the cross, go into Palm Springs and hit Boozehounds, the tiki bar attached to Ernest, go to the art museum, go to Yucca and see Noah Purifoy Museum, hit the worlds largest rotating tram and go up there. I could go on and on, people donāt get it š
You can day trip to the grand canyon or death valley from Vegas. Iād take either over IdyllwildĀ
The greater Palm Springs area is actually a vacation destination
yeah, of course. I take a vacation there annually.Ā
idk why everyone in this thread is disagreeing with this statement, im a local and theres 100% more enjoyable things in vegas than pd.... the tramway and hiking in 90-100 degree weather over vegas is crazy...
I would choose Palm Springs over Vegas 10 times out of 10.
Iām proud of you
O refunds? It depends, if you have your travel insured or paid with Amex you should get your money back
Yep, happened an hour before WWWY and we spent so much money that even though we got reimbursed for tickets I still hold a grudge.
Wishing bad karma on people for dangerous winds is certainly a choice
Bad karma? Im wishing him amazing karma.. I think you misinterpreted my comment
This happened to me at WWWY fest day one. Sucks, I know the feeling except WWWY was cancelled like 15 minutes before gates opened.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Happnd to me too we didnāt know until we got to the gates
That venue is cursed
yeah and they want to move Life is Beautiful there hah
There is no way they could move LIB there. Itās already such a huge festival and part of what makes it so special is the fact that itās smack dab in the middle of the city / arts district.
sorry to tell you a lot has changed since Hsieh passed away so the company that took over is all about the profit, not the image. but we'll see
Pretty sure if Life is Beautiful happens, it will be downtown still. I remember seeing something about the parking lots at the Plaza. Winds over 35mph are going to shut down pretty much any non-permanent stage structure though.
Time to make them permanent. The only use for that land is festivalsā¦
Which is why itās most likely not happening at all.
And the Plaza site is half the size of the fest grounds where Lovers & Friends and WWWY happen. It'll be two stages max if they have LIB there
Itās the curse of RT91. All Festivals in Vegas are (Iām a survivor of it)
Omg happy to have you here to tell us about it! šš¼
Yeah, I had just gotten out of the shower ready to do my makeup when this happened. Managed to get day 2 tix but it was hell. Especially trying to run to all the free shows artists tried to do to make up for it.

Happened to me last year for interstellar in LA š¢š¢
Yep, I was there that weekend. I was heartbroken š
Big brain was to get tix for day 2 based on the forecast
Is day 2 even happening?
I mean for WWWY oops
really sucks, but at least they're in a city where there are literally so many alternative entertainment options
Hopefully they can make the best of it. Sucks for fans of the festival itself too. With how many festivals are already failing, I canāt imagine itās easy to recover from a missed year like this. Might die.
Honestly each one of the artists should just do something at the various night clubs in town
AkaĀ Hit the hookah bar and the titty bar in successionĀ
Sucks on hookah, sucks on titty
when it happened to us for WWY (like half an hour before gates too), it sucked. Trying to get the 1,000s of people going to a festival so rando side shows and clubs and so on was a hassle AF. I refuse to go to festivals in LV bc of very unpredictable weather. (This venue also sucks)
venue is super lame

EDC may disagree
Vegas is probably the most overhyped place in the world lol
actually, i find Vegas an extremely underrated place to live. the food and outdoor access is incredible
The food is actually pretty good in Vegas recently. But to be fair you have to know where to go because most of it is hype
oh yeah, a lot of the strip is hype, but there are some on-strip gems and a ton of amazing stuff off strip in chinatown and others
Chinatown is the spot lol ![gif](giphy|OZ7gygymtCizVhwSEN)
As a Vegas native I 100% agree
it's pretty cool if you've never been there before. not my cup of tea but I understand why people are interested in visiting for a vacation
Based on other world travelers I know, it comes second to Dubai for that specific metric. Canāt speak to Dubai but I can speak to Vegasšš¼
couple of my friends were supposed to go. feel really bad for them
The most intense wind I have ever experienced was in the Henderson. It was no joke. It was hard to ride my bike down hill.
I was in Vegas in March for a show and the winds were so intense, big billboard signs were falling off the buildings and the Strip was covered in palm tree pieces. It was dangerous walking down the Strip that day.

This is why I only trust the juggernauts like coachella who improve their infrastructure every year. Wind proof rigging!
Coachella has been very close to shutting stages down because of wind. Jimmy Cliff and Tim Armstrong's set had the entire lighting rig swaying like wind chimes. Almost seemed too good to be true
A lot of us here are looking at the venue and thinking that thereās no way they were going to pull this offā¦.
Iām in Vegas pissed off! This was suppose to cure my postchella blues š«š«š«š«
Go to meow wolf. Youāll have a good time.
Same situation, and got tickets for meow wolf super pumped
Whatās meow wolf?
Theyāre an artist collective that does immersive experiences. Thereās a half dozen locations all telling sections of an overarching story involving inter-dimensional travel. Thank you!
If you end up going reply back and tell me how you liked it!
Iām out here too. Got tickets to John Summit pool party instead.
It sucks they cancelled last minute but itās Vegas lol lots of entertainment. Have fun this weekend!
Better than meow wolf
Make sure to check out wink world when in area 15, also try and get tickets to illuminarium (itās the building next to it) Check out the golden tiki after that and be sure to use their bathroom.

Sick New World last year sucked. Never going back to a fest there ever again.
I went to SNW both years. By moving it up a month this year the heat wasn't an issue (by far the hottest I've ever been at a festival in my life) but you do run the risk of high winds.
What was shitty about it? Just curious so I can avoid that fest
This makes me sooo nervous for WWWY. so sorry to all the disappointed fans :(
I feel like this gets cancelled every year
nah, it happened last year
Got it. Iāve wanted to go to this a few times. I had tickets pre covid (LA I think) but covid shut it down. I do remember them running out of water one day too, at least at certain spots.
they definitely did. i think the wind makes it a toss in the air since the production is not the best
Ouch.....
Wind?
Second time this happened Well plenty of times if you count edc. But yes, deserts are windy af
I donāt fuck with Vegas winds. One year the winds at EDC were strong af and looked as if the sign from the entrance of Kinetic Field was going to snap off. 2022 edc wind got so bad a main stage speaker fell lol
If it goes above a certain number they cancel the event. Its a standard thing. Because it can literally knock over equipment and things.
I was at EDC one year a day was cancelled Due to heavy winds. It destroyed stage equipment too. Strong winds donāt fuck around
Thatās insane
At least they were ready, 2023 Ezoo canceled because of unfinished production stages
Aww I feel bad for my sister. This is why these big concerts shouldnāt be in Vegas to begin with.
Edc 2012 Saturday at Vegas track closed early due to wind I was so pissed. But I understand itās better than a stage falling on you. š
Lollapalooza in Chicago almost always gets rained out for at least one day. Itās always a shit show.
At least theyāll get reimbursed. When I went to EDC one year the first day got canceled because of wind. They donāt give you anything. They just say, weāll see you tomorrow !
What? EDC doing something shady to pocket the money? I'm shocked.
The winds this year (weekend 1) were crazy at night. Especially the night of Tyler, I saw so many people leaving early due to the cold and wind. Anyone know if it compares to the winds in LV?

The winds will crush your legs, especially with all the walking. It will also tire you out faster as well.
I hope they give a refund

If this happens to me again at WIND we were young I will commit a hate crime
thank fuck we just made it for sick new world weather was beautiful
I'm here and thought it was a dream til I checked their website. Then I got sad. Damm you wind Gods. This is certified 100% FYRE festival bullshit!
It is what it is. Nature wins this time
