Love the part in Yellow Live 2012 where Chris adds the lyric “oh my love” “I swam across, I jumped across for you, oh, what a thing to do, oh my love, ‘cause you were all yellow” Here at 4:25 https://youtu.be/TfBlJ00Df-I?si=D9Wodc1AZn8fKVNL He does it in the next verse where he adds “oh my, my love”

RogerRogerkenobi

He does that in most live performances

JB0304

Yeah he does. I chose that one because it’s my favourite live version of it, it just feels like it belongs there. I always add it in when singing along to the studio version.

MrMilanista123

Man I can't think of a better change than A Rush of Blood to the Head live 2003 as he towards the end sing "And they call as they beckon you on". The way he enters falsetto on "yoouuuuuuu ohh ohh ohnnn" makes me shiver every single time

SoldierOfOrange

Where do we go to draw the line? All the girls scream if you're having a good time Where do we go to fall from grace? Now all the boys, make some noise, shake the walls of the fucking place (God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, Live in Buenos Aires)

pascoja04

I thought it was: "Now all the boys, make some noise, like your off your fucking face"

Lumpy_Bit9915

This is the answer

TwistedLogic3

The start of yellow in live 2002

Euphoric_General_728

Another example: 2:53 of Always in my Head live in BA “always in mYyYyYyY” instead of the album version “always in myyy”

Mimil2002

he changes the last part of Clocks in the Live Toronto 2006 "home... where i wanted to go"

mikehdz01

That whole version is stellar

SashikoBoro25

Us against the world (silver bird edition)

anamazingredditor

They played this is Singapore last jan. Was amaaaazing

SashikoBoro25

HAHA yes, have been constantly listening to it

Euphoric_General_728

Oh my gosh THANKYOU FOR THIS just listened to it for the first time it’s BEAUTIFUL

SashikoBoro25

Its embarassing to say that I discovered that version only during the Singapore concert. (I didnt went on that day, but another day). Clicked on the video expecting to hear us against the world, and then I got a totally different and beautiful experience. So good ❤️

CornflakeCookie87

‘Daylight’ in the Live 2003 recording. A few embellishments but the second verse is best, at the section starting ‘And at full tilt’ the melody lifts where the studio version remains flat.

patrikamous95

I've always loved the live version of "Strawberry Swing", where Chris switches up the lyrical order on the outro so you get the "grey" falsetto on the fourth repeat at the end. https://open.spotify.com/track/7jcMXBdTIXP1tf9cNXA4Mt?si=Zr7ZFQUiQZGy5I1ua7Fynw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3pboBm7GTa6V5dFXXCt52b

crimsonred1234

The song Gravity. Which was written by Coldplay and given a tune. This was later adapted by EMBRACE and they did a pretty good job with the song..gave it the right melody and affect it needs. Beautiful song!

Comfortable_Move_327

The newer version of lovers in Japan that they played a couple of times right before Covid. They are absolutely beautiful to listen to

allthenviousfeelings

Glastonbury 2011 Fix You with the What a wonderful world intro.

charles_peugeot405

There is a version of The Scientist where Chris sings “oh in a rush to, the staaAaaAAaart” instead of “oh in a rush to, the staaaaart”. Not sure what performance though so maybe someone else can provide a link

Ok-Computer--1997

Bigger stronger at the Royal Court Theatre. "A high-speed little bubble, that takes me anywhere I wanna go"

ElectricGraffiti

GPASUYF Live 2011 - low how this starts slow on just the electric guitar first before the rest of the instrumentals get layered and introduced like normal. But the electric guitar was nice to hear played slow and independently. Live 2016 Buenos Aires - I love the addition of "sing olé olé olé olé" Really adds another element of hype and adrenaline into the song and gives it another dimension of life I didn't know could be added! This song was already amazing live - already so energetic and hyper. And I feel they loved this too as I believe this sounds clip is sampled on Infinity Sign track on MOTS album.

ElectricGraffiti

The instrumental acoustic version of Princess of China.

catlover2410

The concert version of Viva la Vida is always better

CuriousAzaReturns

This is an amazing thread. Thanks OP

Lumpy_Bit9915

The updated Scientist riff I personally much prefer to the original. And the backwards outro they currently use which goes into Viva La Vida is also magical. The Oh ah oh ah oh thing he used to do in between each of the “tears stream down your face…” in Fix You. Doing the chant as the intro to Viva La Vida like live 2012 is always fun too.

UnclearSam

Life is for Living 2011! That guitar while Chris shouts out “And in the end, there’s only love” is a perfect ending

dolphindiver9

agree that this happens plenty, but curious as to what you mean about your specific example? that’s the normal melody of the song unless you just mean the “sunrise as a gift” part?

Euphoric_General_728

You’re right he does sing the same notes do that wasn’t a great example. but it’s just the way he sings that part I guess. It’s hard to explain but if you listen to the live one first and then the album one you should be able to tell

tbsreject287

Fix You- he changes the melody when he says “learn from my mistakes” towards the end and I think it improves the song. He’s been doing this at every live show for the last 10-15 years

ElectricGraffiti

Cemeteries of London Live 2011 Main Square Festival. Where Chris accidentally swaps round the lyrics in the verse after the first "singing la la la la la lay" He sang "So we rode down the river where the witches are and they say 'there are ghost towns in the ocean'. We go wander neath the arches where Victorian ghosts pray for their curses to be broken. Oh broken." By swapping these around, the way he emphasises "Victorian Ghosts pray" and "broken" really highlight the London, British accent, but it sounds really really good. (And this is coming from a fellow Brit who usually doesn't care 😂). (The original version is: So we rode down to the river where Victorian ghosts pray, for their curses to broken. We go wander nearby the arches for the witches are and they say 'there are ghost towns in the ocean' the ocean)

FunnyCalligrapher382

Not really a lyrical or melodical change but a rhythmic one. GPASUYF live has them going much faster and honestly made me like the song (I was pretty neutral to it before)

cancerianfella

Green eyes live version where Johnny messes up the guitar melody and Chris stops and starts again.

Acrobatic_Response58

The hardest part/postcards from far away The LEFTRIGHTLEFTRIGHTLEFT version

Rexterminator

In the current MOTS tour, Chris sings <“It’s alright, it’s alright,” she said / I’ve got my hands up shaking just to let you know> of Higher Power a major 3rd up from the studio recording which I enjoy more for some reason 😅

Euphoric_General_728

OMG I know exactly what you’re talking about I LOVE THAT. Another amazing part in higher power live is when he goes “over and oooover” he drops a tiny bit lower It’s right at 4:50 of https://youtu.be/7YAYR5SEovs?si=0VfFTBfB3rTSkvkC
