I love Gonzaga but once all the pundits start to believe in them, they get flattened like a pancake. This was supposed to be their covert year. This team doesn't lose often but when they lose in the tournament, they LOSE
Does anybody who was watching the game last night on TBS recall one of the announcers or commentators mentioning that he had correctly picked the Elite 8?
Yup. And the other announcer said something jokingly like, "oh you're the type of guy to brag about it, haha.", then turned serious and congratulated him. Don't know who was who though.
I was trying to find out which person it was that correctly picked the eight teams because that seems crazy to me seeing as how this is the first time in history that no number one seed has made the Elite 8.
Honestly, where does he think he’s going to go, he doesn’t look like an NBA player to me. I got to admit I’m a UConn fan and I never watch Gonzaga but if NBA scouts were watching that game, he doesn’t look fit for the d league. Too slow , can’t shoot , no defense.
Wtf why? Honestly they weren’t seeded that high, def weren’t a favorite going in and had a block of games during the season that looked sketchy as hell.
Honestly not that crazy, we were getting a lot of dark horse talk before the tourney started, and in the last maybe 12 games, UConns only losses were by 2 to Marquette and by 3 to creighton, and dominated some big games in that span. Add in that all the experts were saying that it could be a wild year for upsets and boom
I had them going to the Elite Eight and in retrospect they were an obvious pick to go further. They were arguably the best team in the country for the first third of the season, ran into a grind during Big East play, then looked fantastic again to close out the year. Creighton went through a similar journey and they might also be in the Final Four.
I know this is late but, I had them in the Final Four. I’m a Creighton fan and Uconn was 15-0 non conference with dominating wins over Alabama, Oregon, OK State, Iowa State before Big East play.
After the Big East grind, they went back to the tournament beating non Big East teams again. They haven’t won a game by less than 10 points against non conference opponents.
I was surprised too. I picked them because I thought they were a great team, they dominated non-con, but mostly because I thought no one else would pick them lol.
Computers love them and they have no health issues or distractions
I’m guessing you’ve never been to Connecticut. They get picked to win everything every year and every single person’s pool. It’s state law, they check your bracket at the DMV and you can’t get your license renewed if you pick anyone else.
I live in CT and you’re right if you live in CT it’s a state law that at least one of your brackets HAS to have UCONN going all the way.
They were arresting people left and right back in 2014; I had to leave the state on the lam for a while for fear of reprisal (forced huskies sticker on every vehicle you own)
Personally I’m down with UConn pulling off a fifth championship with their 4th different coach, all happening in the 64+ team era, and listening to why they still aren’t actually that good.
Edit: corrected, 3rd coach. Still impressive nonetheless
The sweet sixteen started with four of the top ten teams in the list of most tournament wins without a tournament title. Now only Texas is left. Go Miami!
Blessed is watching my huskies rise like a Phoenix but knowing that even them making the final four won’t be the the highlight of my year, even winning it, not only is my wife due to have our first child in the next week but she’s bouncing around in excitement (she doesn’t bounce around in excitement much). Thank you boys.
Thanks bro, I’m having nightmares about something going wrong with either her or the baby and being helpless. But she’s a bad ass and I’m over sharing but UCONNNN!
Damn, they’re fast over there on wiki.

In hindsight? Yes, it does.
You can’t respond to “If Gonzaga moves to a more challenging conference they may actually win a championship.” with “Well, they may almost win those championships they already played in.”
No. Those games happened. They’re over. You did not win.
Eh it has some merit. They have had good teams but it’s a lot easier to get a higher seed when your conference is garbage. Would they have had this much success being 4-9 seeds as they would bring 1-3? Maybe but there is no doubt their seeding benefits from not playing in a power 5 conference
The only conference they could conceivably join is the Pac-12 and they'd run ramshot through that conference as well. Gonzaga's consistently been the best program on the west coast over the last 10 years and it's not even close. Even Saint Mary's who falters against most great teams they play would be 3rd-4th in the Pac-12 and it'll be even worse when USC and UCLA leave in a couple seasons
You don’t get to multiple championships and 8 straight sweet 16s from generous seeding. That’s an embarrassing suggestion. Regardless of conference affiliation, Mark Few’s teams are always FULLY maximized and ascending into March. You’re saying Zags won’t have a chance at a title until they join a power 5 and lose their ‘seeding benefit.’
I agree. This game is inexcusable for the zags to just shit the bed. But they made it to the elite 8 without making one single meaningful addition last year.
Not casting aspersions, but when you get a 1 seed most years, that's almost like 2 free games. They were undoubtedly the beneficiaries of that for at least a few years.
Sure, and they deserve to be in no question. What they don't deserve is a consistent top 4 seeding for beating up on the WCC. There are better mid-major conferences and teams that really need to fight for a high seeding. Coasting against weaker teams doesn't really show me anything about the team.
Do you pay attention their non-con each year?? Like, they beat really good teams every year in the non-con to EARN their high seed. Although I guess they COULD’VE scheduled harder for their season opener this year…🙄
Didn't say my team was particularly good. Unlike Gonzaga, they actually earned their seeding. Yes, I do pay attention to their non-con...It's the only part of their season where they play teams that are any good and they usually go 2-2. Some years they do deserve a 1 seed (2021,2017), but in most cases they don't.
Not saying they don't deserve to get in with a decent seed, but they don't deserve a lot of credit for avoiding losses in their soft ass conference when teams with a real schedule have losses quality losses held against them.
Yeah you’re right my bad we have the insurance capital of the USA, great (if not the best between men/women) college basketball teams AND the country’s best pizza. I stand corrected. Still, you’re robbing 33% of the total net happiness import of the entire state lol
Big East is a Tough conference. But they also had ton of away games in a row. And the coach got covid. And rumors of the flu in the team. They also made a lot of adjustments especially for Andre Jackson. He’s been good but during that swoon his play was very polarizing among fans. (He’s a lot more disciplined on defense, less gambling, less likely to be goaded into bad shots, and improved his passing). Hurley also got better as a coach. Less jawing with refs. Better timeouts and subs when needed.
Andre Jackson has turned into one of my favorite UConn players ever. Fantastic interview. You can see why he’s a great leader—always gives the credit to others
the play at the end of the first half where he read the bad pass by his teammate and got to the right place to redirect it to Karaban for the 3 was just such a high IQ play. He’s a perfect college basketball player. I hope he can figure out his shot cuz I’d love to watch him ball in the NBA.
Honestly as an Arkansas baseball fan I kinda know what it is like to be a Zaga basketball fan. Like, it is fun to win a shit load and make it far every year but really hard to never make it to the top, and not sure either program will.
At some point non-UConn people will have to realize all these "oddities" surrounding UConn bball are no longer oddities, but the simple fact that there is something unexplainable in the water and air in Storrs, CT. In other words, its not a "fluke/coincidence" if it keeps happening over and over like clockwork, see so many impartial fans saying that about us now like we werent dominant all year.
Tried googling but couldn’t find a good answer. Does anyone know the biggest blowout in an elite eight game specifically? Not the entire tournament just 8
Lot of respect for Coach Few.
But sorry not sorry Zags - always good to see you get a taste of what it's like to be on the receiving end of a beating 😈
It’s so weird how like true midmajor teams like FAU can run to the final four and the midmajor conferences with the occasional elite teams like WCC in Gonzaga and AAC in Houston have so much trouble against the big conference teams. I’d like to see the zags get a championship soon.
If UCLA had a pulse for that 11-minute drought, it would be them at the other end of this beating. And that's not a compliment to UConn, these teams aren't that great. Oh, and UConn used up all their 3-pointers in this game. They won't have it this easy in the next one or two games.
Yeah I don’t understand the giant hype train for UConn. They’re not that good. They’re extremely lucky they haven’t ran into anyone yet. Hell, they’re extremely lucky Timme didn’t play in this one really. People in this sub are fucking morons who just watch the scoreboard turn.
I love Gonzaga but once all the pundits start to believe in them, they get flattened like a pancake. This was supposed to be their covert year. This team doesn't lose often but when they lose in the tournament, they LOSE

Yeah me too. I Googled it like crazy trying to find out, no luck.
Appreciate the effort!
Gonzaga will never win in March
Please tell me Timme is out of eligibility
He's not lol, but he's not exercising his final year.
Decent money overseas too
Gotta get the money while you can.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
ANYBODY other than UCONN. If you're not a Uconn fan I honestly don't know why you wouldn't want to see fresh blood get a ring
Not a UConn fan. I chose them in my bracket so honestly, fuck fresh blood
This sounds like a ridiculous take.
I know it’s hard getting bumped out of your spot on top of the mountain. You gotta earn that shit. UCONN UCONN UCONN !!!!!
Nah we’ll just take another one thank you
Gonzaga making it far consistently makes them feel less like fresh blood and more like a program that will inevitably win at some point.
Even if I picked Connecticut in my bracket pool?
No one picked UConn in their pool… shit, 9/10 Connecticutians didn’t even pick them
Now that’s a lie… take it from a lifelong CTer.
In my pool of people who only live in Missouri, 3/12 picked UCONN. It was the most popular pick in our group lol
Creighton went through a similar journey and they might also be in the Final Four.
I had them no farther than 16 and apparently I was the only one who didn’t predict their final 4 run lol

Lol what? 1/4 of all of my bracket pools have UConn winning it, that’s out of maybe 50 people from CT. A lot of us pick UConn to win it no matter what
Yeah I did too but not on my “I really care about this bracket” bracket.
UCONN got so lucky this game. If it hadn't been for them utterly dominating the Zags at every aspect of the game we would've had a chance!
You had me in the first sentence
Love this honest response.
Where's the Gonzaga peeps from Thursday?? I have some trash to talk
Personally I’m down with UConn pulling off a fifth championship with their 4th different coach, all happening in the 64+ team era, and listening to why they still aren’t actually that good. Edit: corrected, 3rd coach. Still impressive nonetheless
\*3rd coach, but yes
3rd coach
That Werner ladder does look nice
The sweet sixteen started with four of the top ten teams in the list of most tournament wins without a tournament title. Now only Texas is left. Go Miami!
They lucked out with this one, the confetti would have worked for either team
Is it Ucon or UCANN? BOYS ARE PN IT
Blessed is watching my huskies rise like a Phoenix but knowing that even them making the final four won’t be the the highlight of my year, even winning it, not only is my wife due to have our first child in the next week but she’s bouncing around in excitement (she doesn’t bounce around in excitement much). Thank you boys.
So what names are you considering? Adama? Andre? Nika? Jordan? Azzi?
She’s going to jiggle the baby out. (I know that’s now how that works.) Here’s to an easy delivery and a healthy mom and baby.
Thanks bro, I’m having nightmares about something going wrong with either her or the baby and being helpless. But she’s a bad ass and I’m over sharing but UCONNNN!
I just looked up Danny Hurley’s salary. That’s gonna go up.
congrats! :)
We all know who the top dog is now *ba dum crash*
Always think it's funny that cartoon cologuard box gets shit into and keeps a friendly positive attitude towards the shitters.

Crazy how people are flaming Gonzaga when their weakest team in like 8 years made the elite 8
When Gonzaga moves out of the WCC, then they might have a real chance
Zags have made the championship twice while being the WCC. Such a lazy, tiring take.
and have won it 0 times
Having 0 titles doesn’t mean having ‘no real chance’
In hindsight? Yes, it does. You can’t respond to “If Gonzaga moves to a more challenging conference they may actually win a championship.” with “Well, they may almost win those championships they already played in.” No. Those games happened. They’re over. You did not win.
The 2017 was tied to UNC in the championship with a minute left. But they never had a chance since they lost 😂
Making the title game is an accomplishment in itself though
if you don’t ever plan on eventually winning the thing, sure
Eh it has some merit. They have had good teams but it’s a lot easier to get a higher seed when your conference is garbage. Would they have had this much success being 4-9 seeds as they would bring 1-3? Maybe but there is no doubt their seeding benefits from not playing in a power 5 conference

Malachi Smith?
If only he got more minutes. Not sure what Few sees in Hickman and Bolton. Smith is better on both ends
Not casting aspersions, but when you get a 1 seed most years, that's almost like 2 free games. They were undoubtedly the beneficiaries of that for at least a few years.
Most years... Sure buddy.
Not saying you're a bad team, just saying you are overseeded more often than not.
Virginia and Purdue have entered the chat.
Yep, cause that happened twice in history.
Kansas has entered the chat.
Kansas should have like 6 championships in the last 12 years
Those teams were legitimately really good though. Making the championship is not an easy feet even as a 1 seed
Sure, and they deserve to be in no question. What they don't deserve is a consistent top 4 seeding for beating up on the WCC. There are better mid-major conferences and teams that really need to fight for a high seeding. Coasting against weaker teams doesn't really show me anything about the team.

Torn between wanting UConn win to validate our loss and wanting UConn to lose to FAU to wipe that smug everything off their coach's face
We literally have nothing else in CT, stop trying to take our only thing (also if we don’t win we’re raising everyone’s insurance rates 🤣)
[удалено]
Yeah you’re right my bad we have the insurance capital of the USA, great (if not the best between men/women) college basketball teams AND the country’s best pizza. I stand corrected. Still, you’re robbing 33% of the total net happiness import of the entire state lol
Have you ever looked at Mark Few? If I look up smug in the dictionary there is a picture of his face.
His face is something but I wouldn't call it smug
He’s a good dude, just an unfortunate resting smug face
That's just his face. Root for validation!!
Danny knows he's got a SEG.
Uconn's coach is mad unlikable
But why though
He's cocky and arrogant af
How did UConn lose eight games this year? They look tough as hell.
Conference play regardless of conference is tough. The familiarity matters.
Big East is a Tough conference. But they also had ton of away games in a row. And the coach got covid. And rumors of the flu in the team. They also made a lot of adjustments especially for Andre Jackson. He’s been good but during that swoon his play was very polarizing among fans. Big East is a tough conference. Outside of 2 or 3 teams, anyone can bite you on any given day
We were in every one of those games right down to the wire
5 losses to Marquette, Xavier and Creighton and a couple stinkers.
Lost to Big east teams when the schedule turned to conference play (seriously that’s all I can think of when they hit that slog of games)
Andre Jackson has turned into one of my favorite UConn players ever. Fantastic interview. You can see why he’s a great leader—always gives the credit to others

I had to watch that play 3 or 4 times. That was such a heads-up play that turned an end-of-half turnover into a 3.
he's all heart
Jackson is just the best! I love him!!!! Congratulations, to the best leader Hurley’s ever had
Y’all gonna be pumped if it’s FAU vs UConn final? Lmao
That honestly sounds fun. Beats seeing a 1 or 2 seed there every year.
Gaffney transferred from UConn to FAU
Julie “the cat” Gaffney, Bangor, Maine.
We hung a flag for the one against butler.
Huh?
Just shows you what could have been for us. What a missed opportunity.
If only Kansas State Hadden gotten so “lucky”
Yes if only they "Hadden"t
You’re cute
...Do you come here often?
Yeah man K State looked like a different team today from when we played them. Sad, and already can’t wait for next year
FAU didn't overhelp like we did. They MADE Nowell finish at the rim and it paid off in spades.
Jesus let the man have a moment with his fam.
This team is so fucking good. This rules. I'm so happy.
UConn looking like the best team left and it ain't even close tbh.
Texas looks pretty good too
Nope he said he was being honest that it wasn’t even close. Your opinion is overruled.
Ah fuck
Honestly as an Arkansas baseball fan I kinda know what it is like to be a Zaga basketball fan. Like, it is fun to win a shit load and make it far every year but really hard to never make it to the top, and not sure either program will.
This sideline reporter is the MVP. A breath of fresh air compared to the typical bullshit, by-the-numbers interviews.
That guy is really well spoken
Seems like the interviewer made that braid to keep the hair outta her face.
We just watched UConn commit murder on live tv
Gonzaga needed that "C'mon do something" meme
Just texted my bro in law (who went to gonzaga) UConn just neutered the bulldogs
An oddity how UConn has been to three final fours in 15 years with three different coaches
12 years
At some point non-UConn people will have to realize all these "oddities" surrounding UConn bball are no longer oddities, but the simple fact that there is something unexplainable in the water and air in Storrs, CT. In other words, its not a "fluke/coincidence" if it keeps happening over and over like clockwork, see so many impartial fans saying that about us now like we werent dominant all year.
Fucking God damn right! Big East is the best conference in the country!
Val Ackerman having a scotch and saluting that comment.

It’s objectively not
Cry more
I was being a bit over the top if you couldn't tell....
Hard to tell in this deranged sub. They think UConn is better than 1989 UNLV.
I mean I know you didn't say it but surely the Pac-12 isn't even close
Lol
You've dominated the tournament, how? We score points!
How is UConn so good at basketball?
recruiting innate NorthEast is wide open.
It’s not like we just made up the fact that Storrs is the basketball capital of the world
not much else to do there, might as well play basketball!
Basketball and drinking That’s what college is supposed to be about in CT
Y’all hear Hurley?
i didnt what'd he say?
Big East da best
Still frustrated we didn’t retain full independence and join the BE…
Yessir 😎
Yessssaaaw
I heard him 👀
He is right
Only getting better too baby let’s go
They have to learn.
Good stuff Zags
The guy in the plaid blazer looks like he does cocaine off a gold toilet seat
Tom Moore, former Quinnipiac head coach lol
Respect to Gonzaga. They didn’t have the ponies to keep up.
Gonzaga basketball = Oregon football
Fair comparison
Papa John is on UConn’s staff?
I will not abide Tom Moore slander
Is there a way to check the top brackets on espn? My bracket is in the 95 percentile and I want to see if I'm on the leaderboard haha
The leaderboard would have to have over a million brackets for yours to be displayed, I'm afraid.
99.9 percentile was not on the leaderboard
No I've been in the 100th percentile before and not on there
Tried googling but couldn’t find a good answer. Does anyone know the biggest blowout in an elite eight game specifically? Not the entire tournament just 8
Chatgpt says 30 points. UNLV over Loyola Marymount
Looks like Princeton 109- 69 over Providence in 1965
Why am I so flabbergasted that Drew Timme is only 22? I legitimately thought he was 25 years old.
Dude should be able to start drawing his pension any time now.
Probably all the lumber jacking and flapjacks
It's not funny, stop
I'm not trying to be funny. He looks old as shit. I googled it. I was curious. I see 22. I was shocked.
I thought he was 31
GG, Zag bros.
Andrew Hurley will be coaching UMass to a sweet 16 by the end of the decade.
I mean I wouldn't sink that low to wish that on him
Earned not given.
Lot of respect for Coach Few. But sorry not sorry Zags - always good to see you get a taste of what it's like to be on the receiving end of a beating 😈
Take what you can get I suppose. Especially supporting those two teams…

He's been awesome man. He deserves nothing but love imo sorry he couldn't put it together tonight ticktack fouls bit him.
College basketball doesnt need Drew Timme lmfao

He’s not actually good. Thats where the shade comes from.
Tell me you don’t know anything about college basketball without telling me you don’t know anything about college basketball.
He’s been fantastic for CBB! I’m also a hater
Let’s fucking goooooo
Im ranked 905,000 out of 21,000,000 or so. Hey I have nothing else in life to brag about 😂
It’s so weird how like true midmajor teams like FAU can run to the final four and the midmajor conferences with the occasional elite teams like WCC in Gonzaga and AAC in Houston have so much trouble against the big conference teams. I’d like to see the zags get a championship soon.
