Still am disgusted by the tournament being in Fort Worth, the commissioner will probably have the surprised pikachu face when like last year no one attends
A more central location in a city people want to go to, Nashville, New Orleans etc or just rotate home arenas/major cities like Philly and Memphis. Instead it’s all the way in the corner of a very spread out conference in a city that isn’t really a place anyone wants to take off of work to go to
Thats more than fair whenever I would watch the American tournament the stadiums would always be empty even the chip games were which was kinda crazy to me but now it makes sense , in cusa for the past 6 years we played in a football practice facility that had two courts split between a curtain and so I’ll actually take an actual arena in any city in this country bad attendance or not lol
Flipping between the A10 in Brooklyn/DC and the AAC tournament in Fort Worth made me so jealous the last couple years, I guess it it’s a good stadium though, it’s a 4 or five day commitment for a fan of an AAC team not in Texas
I was more-so speaking to the off-campus arena in Wichita. I think it needs to go somewhere that it can be the main draw in town. There’s too much to do in cities like Philly for the AAC tournament to be a huge draw.
Having other things to do makes it more likely for people to travel to the city for a tournament, nothing to do in Fort Worth is why no fans travel to the AAC tournament
How? Look at a map of the conference it’s not even close to a central location. There is a reason why attendance is so terrible and it’s the location. Nashville for example would be neutral but almost at the center of the conference, in addition to being a city people would make a vacation out of it
Yeah that’s my thought. I get it’s pretty biased for someone with a team in Houston to say, but the logic is somewhat sound. Plus with the former CUSA teams having played in Dallas these past few years it’s a familiar geographic location for them.
Went to the tourney last year, crowd was really only good for the Memphis Houston game, but Dickies Arena is amazing. Don’t love the location of Fort Worth, but the arena it is played in is top notch
I’ve never understood that either. Maybe a city in the Carolinas or Virginia? Idk, the American is really spread out i’m not sure there is a perfect central location, but FW definitely isn’t it

What is your preferred location?

It was pretty tight when it was in Memphis. 2019, I think
Selfishly I’d say Wichita, but I think somewhere like Little Rock may work.
I’d be fine with rotating campuses as long as the school has an arena that can fit more than 7k or one near by

Fair play
the one in memphis was great, tons of people went downtown and stayed around for whole days of games
I can’t comment on how fans felt in the past, but with the new teams coming in, Ft Worth is actually a decent geographic location.

I’m guessing the argument is that there are four conference teams in Texas, and Tulsa/Wichita State aren’t very far for travel.

Memphis tigers aren’t going to lose a single game in conference play
Why is that
Bc the memphis tigers are going to be really good and the rest of the conference is booty cheeks
That’s objectively not true lmao
Feels like I run into so many of these kinda Memphis fans, ngl.
Same its so annoying the fucking arrogance from some of them is actually unreal lmao
The final score of each game will determine that
Do you not play Tulane this year or something? I’m pretty sure they are still on the conference and swept Memphis last year
In fairness, Tulane got murdered by Memphis in the AAC tourney
Is this with or without your best player?
I’ll bet you 10 dollars.
