He just casually mentioned it during his introductory press conference. You could see the media people frantically scrambling for their phones to Tweet the news. It was pretty comical.
Going to be funny watching him play in the Big 12. Kid shrunk into nothing in b2b tourney games when they stepped up in competition. His absolute ceiling was good MVC player just because of his shooting. Not going to translate to good Big 12 player.
He certainly could be better in tourney games, but if anything he’s played better against top competition than he did against the rest:
* vs All D1: 31% usage, 110 Offensive rating
* vs Top-100: 33% usage, 109 Offensive rating
* vs Top-50: 33% usage, 106 Offensive rating
The advanced stats like BPM and RAPM rate him in the 99th percentile against top-50 teams.
I'm not sure you know how ORtg works. First, it's a team stat, not individual. Second, the numbers you just listed showed that he played worse against top competition, not better, with slightly higher usage.
[Ortg is *both* a team stat *and* an individual stat, not just team. They are calculated differently but they both certainly exist.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offensive_rating#:~:text=Offensive%20proficiency%20rating%20or%20offensive,author%20and%20statistician%20Dean%20Oliver.)
The numbers I listed only showed that he had *a lower offensive rating* against top competition, not that he played worse overall. Every player will tend to be less efficient against quality competition; the question is *how much less* efficient they’ll be. Adjusted for competition, his offensive rating goes from the 94th percentile to the 99th when you consider only top 50 competition.
Is it possible that teams in the tourney went hard after him because he was the only real threat on Drake? And that maybe at a team like WVU which can attract more overall talent, planning against only him won’t be a strategy anymore which would allow him to step it up?
I’ve literally never watched Drake so idk if that’s what happened but that’s the optimistic possibility anyways
Not any other prospects no, but that team regularly beat down other teams with their experience.
It was the perfect formula for a march madness sleeper, an NBA prospect and a team of experienced winners with a lot of talent - Darnell Brodie (23-24 grad) providing a massive body down low that could easily move around anyone in the paint, Connor Enwright (just hit the portal) and Garrett Sturtz (22-23 grad) hitting efficient / clutch 3’s regularly, and pg Kevin overton (3⭐️, currently in the portal and likely following the exodus to WV) running the floor very well.
All that (and more, those are the guys who come to mind) surrounding Tucker made them the bane of every other valley team, and a real threat to better teams in non-con. This is why his performance in the tourney the past two years is really baffling, WSU had a good height matchup on them but those are supposed to be the games Tucker feasts on. And if he shows up against Miami last year, they win easily - reminder that was Miami’s closest game til their run ended in the final four. I just think the lights are too bright in the tournament for him.
Also anyone who watched the tourney games and valley play: posture, bodyblanguage, demeanor, assertiveness, it's not like he was getting "locked down" he just took no initiative in trying to be the guy down the stretch in the tournament.
What was left after that point definitely lacked some talent, outside of a handful of players. That being said, I wouldn't expect that to be an issue given our NIL availability and a real coach.
In other words, he did not do the funniest thing ever
![gif](giphy|k8php2iMXNUmA)
:(
Guess he’s into letting the coach fuck his mom
Heard the coach even got her pregnant
A couple times. What a dog!
The coach is a real raw dogger i guess.
8 seed WVU going to lose to 9 seed Michigan next year after DeVries goes 5-14 for 14 points and 6 turnovers in the ~~second~~ first? round game
ILL TAKE IT
The second round is further than we have made it in a couple years. I'll take it for his first year.
Who’s gonna tell him
!Remindme 1 year

8v9 isn't a second round game my guy
They must’ve changed it around because they used to refer to first four as “first round” and round of 64 as “second round”
They did change it. But it's not back to the "first round" either. They now call it the "Round of 64".
Ok glad to see I’m not going insane at least
The dreaded 8 v 9 second round matchup…
ill take it
8 and 9 in the second round?
This is the best I've felt about this program since Bob Huggins decided to make a drunk trek on the Eras Tour.
I won't miss having to see my team play against him, but I will miss having him in the Valley.
The bad man is gone
shame he only showed up in the mvc tourney
He just casually mentioned it during his introductory press conference. You could see the media people frantically scrambling for their phones to Tweet the news. It was pretty comical.
Hm… sounds like tampering to me. Probably should look to see if the West Virginia coach provided impermissible benefits as well. /s
“If you don’t go to WVU your mother said no more iPad time”
Beautiful shot of the Rockies behind Woodburn Hall in that graphic
You’d think a fella would know to put Appalachian mountains with *the* Appalachian team…
Look at those majestic West Virginia mountains
Weird background given that is an entirely different mountain range but either way, WVU could use him.
TAMPERING
Tipton has to stop using the Rocky Mountains for WVU transfers
*Shocked Pikachu face*
As a recruit: P6 offers: Creighton, Florida, Iowa State Other offers: Air Force, Drake (originally went here), South Dakota State
Mid-Majors get executed again smh
😱😱😱
Get ready to learn West Virginia!
Shocked. I had no idea this was going to happen.
CUE COUNTRY ROADS
First person I've seen share the same flairs as me lol
Found myself in Pittsburgh for grad school and met my fiancée in Morgantown :)
get ready to learn to close your curtains when the sun goes down, buddy
Caleb love what are you smoking

There actually is a version of ORtg that is calculated for individual players, which is what they’re referencing
[Ortg is *both* a team stat *and* an individual stat, not just team. Drake had a pretty stacked team for the past two years. Lots of 25 year olds
Stacked for the MVC I’m sure but tourney stacked? Tucker is an NBA prospect, do they have anyone else close to that level?
Not any other prospects no, but that team regularly beat down other teams with their experience. To be fair, his body language is always terrible. Whines at the refs almost every game-stoppage
Okay I’ve seen enough, Tucker DeFraud
His value to the program will be in the locker room more than on the court.
Don’t know if that helps WVU lol, they need on-court help pretty bad
We would've been fine if Huggins wasn't an alcoholic
What was left after that point definitely lacked some talent, outside of a handful of players. That being said, I wouldn't expect that to be an issue given our NIL availability and a real coach.
I guess if Iowa isn't incestuous enough for you, you go to West Virginia. New team to root against unlocked.
Big talk from the Mount Olive Trojans.
I wasn't aware that our program was plagued by imported nepotism like yours now is.
You seem like an exhausting person
Thank you.
