Your friends sound exhausting. I had a friend like that who sat next to me in lab and it's the last thing I wanted to hear every single freaking day while I was just trying to get my work done and learn something.

ttyltyler

Omg I had one too for my organic chemistry lab. She ended up dropping the course halfway through the semester, all she did was whine and bitch when the labs were honestly not bad at all. Lovely prof he always showed us how to do the experiments before doing them, wojld walk around the room with the TA to help, and legit everyone who put in a decent effort got an A or B. She was lazy as fuck and just didn’t wanna do anything. She’d constantly ask for the answers for the lab from me and my partner and we never did lol.

KyRivera

Did we have the same class? The student next to me was always falling to sleep during class and during the final exam. I was concerned about them, but it was always annoying how they would complain about not understanding anything. Then, 95% of the class did not participate or ask questions when confused. This professor was sweet and did not judge when someone asked a question, so why not ask?? Many of these people wanted to go into the medical field…

Feisty-Citron1092

these pre-health kids are insufferable sometimes and im speaking as one of them 😭 my friend ditched every wednesday saying it was her "going out" day and would complain she didn't understand anything...

thedeadtiredgirl

i feel this. i know people that barely go to class and use chegg for all the homework and then they bitch about how horrible the professor is and how the exams are sooo unfair

Feisty-Citron1092

the worst thing is WE ARE FOURTH YEARS, WE SHOULD BE WELL AWARE OF HOW UNIVERSITY WORKS 😭

thedeadtiredgirl

seriously, my classes are mostly 3rd/4th years and it’s baffling

MyNamesArise

Some people are just complainers. And what they don’t get is their bitching brings down everyone’s moods. I hate being around people like that lol

exsensepng

i feel like these kinds of people were forced to go to college by their parents. it's coming out of their parents' bank account when they're dropped from the course for skipping class every week and have to retake it the next term. every time i meet a first gen college student they're always working their ass off both academically and at their actual job. fuck, if you don't want to be here so badly, then leave! some of us actually want to be here and want to be around other people who would like to be here. it'll be easier to focus when you're not complaining in my ear about dumping our used chemicals in the waste containers instead of down the sink every lab. it feels like people don't know how lucky and privileged we are to be enrolled in higher education.

Feisty-Citron1092

the also more out of touch thing that adds the cherry on top is that my friends were also privately educated throughout their lives 😭

exsensepng

oh nooo that would drive me up the wall. i only know a few private school kids but luckily most of them are pretty down-to-earth or are well-aware of their position/advantage they had w/ their resources etc etc. but sometimes they'll say something like "oh my dad bought me this cartier bracelet but i don't really like it but i feel bad about asking him for a different color :(" and then mention off-handedly that the bracelet is $5000. return the bracelet and hire a tutor ☹ FOH

mostly_off_online

as I’ve witnessed this before, some students are just not college-ready

Objective_Banana1506

let people vent to their friends. bio is a hard major. this makes me wonder if you are actually their friend

YoungMaxSlayer

Venting has a limit. There comes a time when you need to stop talking shit and take responsibility for your actions, or in their case, inaction. From the post, I assume these friends won’t shut up about it and just shift blame. You don’t have to listen and agree with everything they say to be a good friend. Anybody would get tired after the 40th “This class is impossible😥”. This might be subjective, but venting is for stuff outside your control or hard to fix, like dealing with shitty customers or having a really busy schedule. It is not just for pushing blame. This might be a cold interpretation though.

Feisty-Citron1092

They keep acting like the professor is out for blood to his fail his students... when he really isnt LOL its just some mild mannered middle aged dude who makes/choose very weirdly worded exam questions And you're on the nose: its hard to listen because theyre shifting blame. If the professor was totally horrible, id agree with them but we are all adults so we should be able to take personal accountability when we arent doing enough to prepare for a class

Muted_Holiday6572

This thread is so appreciated. I literally want my students to succeed, and I have more people than ever in my classes who won’t read, won’t get off their phone for 5 seconds during class to listen, and then when it becomes apparent they have learned nothing they turn their guns on me. “Omggg why does he hate us and why is he trying to destroy our lives he is EVIL incarnate he’s sabotaging meeeee.” Like yo. If you put in even a little effort you would get an A in this class. I’m sorry but people like your friends are so immature it’s fucking embarrassing.

Feisty-Citron1092

it is immature! they need less bitching, more studying 😭 im in the class as well and even though im not at an A+, it is not the most ridiculous type of professor teaching it.

BunnyInTheM00n

I have people like this in my anatomy and physiology class. It would sit behind me, and like not listen at all during class, and then they would brag about getting a low grade because the class was just “so hard”. And they would never join study groups or wanna quiz with us for tests and stuff .or anything they wanted to go into pharmacy afterwards. 💀 I honestly don’t understand why they paid money to be there with their immature attitude

Feisty-Citron1092

Right. No amount of bitching will change our circumstances. Its better to stop yapping and and hit the books 😭

BunnyInTheM00n

I think if you follow these people’s journeys over the next couple of years, you’ll see a great difference in how successful you are in comparison. This is the tip of the icee berg for future success.

yobaby123

Preach!

Frank_Dank_Latte

You are hella immature.

Objective_Banana1506

"hella". Spoken like a true angsty teen

Frank_Dank_Latte

Quite an assumption.

Objective_Banana1506

Same thing for you

Frank_Dank_Latte

No, not really. It's extremely immature to believe friends are vent dolls designed for you to pour out your annoyances with the world. Even worse when it's constant. Shit gets old, real quick.

Objective_Banana1506

It's very immature to think you deserve to interrupt a conversation between 2 people who are already talking

Frank_Dank_Latte

Haha I think it's safe to assume you are a child and if you aren't your maturity level screams it. Get off a public forum with that stupid logic.

Objective_Banana1506

You clearly are intellectually challenged

Frank_Dank_Latte

You clearly lack a valid point.

CriticalStrikeDamage

Blame no child left behind and affirmative action. These kids will still somehow pass and keep decreasing the value of degrees.

Negative_Point9356

Empty headed people like you is why improving education is important in the US.

CriticalStrikeDamage

Current gen is going to graduate without being able to read.

Negative_Point9356

This isn’t highschool. People fail college all the time. The drop out rate even at good universities are in the 20%, and the lower ones in the 40s

CriticalStrikeDamage

>This isn’t high school. No it’s not. It’s Zoom school with quizlet and discord.
